Feeding the 5000.

Matthew 14:13
Feeding 5,000
13 When Jesus heard about it, He saw a huge crowd, felt compassion for them, and healed their sick.Send the crowds away so they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 “They don’t need to go away,” Jesus told them. “You give them something to eat.” 17 “But we only have five loaves and two fish here,” they said to Him. 18 “Bring them here to Me,” He said. 19 Then He commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them. He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.Everyone ate and was filled. Then they picked up 12 baskets full of leftover pieces! 21 Now those who ate were about 5,000 men, besides women and children.

John 6:6 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples.the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number.when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!”

Mark 6:30 The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves. recognized them, and they ran there on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. Send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him,“Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?” “Five, and two fish.” looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all. 42 And they all ate and were satisfied. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. 44 And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

Luke 9:10 And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. 12 And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place. 13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people. 14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company. 15 And they did so, and made them all sit down. 16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

Is this the same event described in all four gospels?

If you look a little further beyond the portions of the passages you have quoted, (at least John) I believe you will see that the Luke version occurs at "a desert place belonging to Bethsaida", (Luke 9:10) while in John the location appears to be the city of Tiberias or somewhere nearby that area, (John 6:1 and seemingly clarified in John 6:23 because in John 6:17 they were headed back toward Capernaum). Tiberias was on the southwestern coast line of the Sea of Galilee. :)

So what do you make of that? I read that there are two locations called Bethsaida.

Well, you already know what I think about John 6:4, (it is Pesach Sheni) so imo the John account is not the same event as what is recorded in the synoptics. So if you are counting how many "thousands fed" with manna from the heavens then you might have at least 10,000 plus 4,000 at this point, that is, unless and until you find other reasons why other events are not the same. How many times did Yeshua feed 5,000? What about the 4,000? Was it only one event or did it happen more than once?

Hmmm . . . :D

The GREATEST MIRACLE is recorded in all four Gospels with considerably more detail than any other miracle. Knowing you as i do me thinks you were very aware of this MIRACLE "described in all four Gospels", but perhaps you were waiting to see just how long before the light of day shines forth, Ahhh Haaa! ;) Me thinks at least one MJ might have preferred that Yeshua arose during the 7th Day Sabbath, so will not wait until the 1st day of the week to post what you already knew. :)

Portions of detailed accounts of the Resurrection of the slain Lamb of G-D as found in all four Gospels ...

Matthew 28:6-10
CJB
6 He is not here, because He has been raised — just as He said! Come and look at the place where He lay.
7 Then go quickly and tell the talmidim, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and now he is going to the Galil ahead of you. You will see him there.’ Now I have told you.”
8 So they left the tomb quickly, frightened yet filled with joy; and they ran to give the news to his talmidim.
9 Suddenly Yeshua met them and said, “Shalom!” They came up and took hold of his feet as they fell down in front of him.
10 Then Yeshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go and tell my brothers to go to the Galil, and they will see me there.”

Mark 16:9-14 CJB
9 When Yeshua rose early Sunday, He appeared first to Miryam of Magdala, from whom He had expelled seven demons.
10 She went and told those who had been with him, as they were crying and mourning.
11 But when they heard that he was alive and that she had seen him, they wouldn’t believe it.
12 After that, Yeshua appeared in another form to two of them as they were walking into the country.
13 They went and told the others, but they didn’t believe them either.
14 Later, Yeshua appeared to the Eleven as they were eating, and he reproached them for their lack of trust and their spiritual insensitivity in not having believed those who had seen him after he had risen.

Luke 24:13-16, 25-27 CJB
13 That same day, two of them were going toward a village about seven miles from Yerushalayim called Amma’us,
14 and they were talking with each other about all the things that had happened.
15 As they talked and discussed, Yeshua himself came up and walked along with them,
16 but something kept them from recognizing Him.
25 He said to them, “Foolish people! So unwilling to put your trust in everything the prophets spoke!
26 Didn’t the Messiah have to die like this before entering his glory?”
27 Then, starting with Moshe and all the prophets, he explained to them the things that can be found throughout the Tanakh concerning himself.

John 20:14-20 CJB
14 As she said this, she turned around and saw Yeshua standing there, but she didn’t know it was he.
15 Yeshua said to her, “Lady, why are you crying? Whom are you looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you’re the one who carried him away, just tell me where you put him; and I’ll go and get him myself.”
16 Yeshua said to her, “Miryam!” Turning, she cried out to him in Hebrew, “Rabbani!” (that is, “Teacher!”)
17 “Stop holding onto me,” Yeshua said to her, “because I haven’t yet gone back to the Father. But go to my brothers, and tell them that I am going back to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”
18 Miryam of Magdala went to the talmidim with the news that she had seen the Lord and that he had told her this.
19 In the evening that same day, the first day of the week, when thetalmidim were gathered together behind locked doors out of fear of the Judeans, Yeshua came, stood in the middle and said, “Shalom aleikhem!”
20 Having greeted them, he showed them his hands and his side. The talmidim were overjoyed to see the Lord.

Shabbath Shalom

Also Vis, if you note the differences in the baskets, the name for the twelve baskets left over from the five thousand is not the same as the name of the seven baskets left over from the four thousand; they are two different sizes or styles of baskets, so they most likely do not speak of the same supernal things. For instance the five thousand are fed with five loaves and two fish but that does not likely constitute a full basket in the sense that it is used of the twelve leftover baskets of fragments in those passages. More likely one full basket would hold the equivalent of six cakes made from two tenth deals. Thus, if you have two different occasions where this occurred, (the feeding of the five thousand) then there would have been twelve full baskets of fragments left over from each of the two separate events. If each basket holds a pile of six cakes worth of bread fragments then six loaves would feed six thousand by the example of the five loaves feeding five thousand. Thus twenty four baskets worth six cakes apiece would have been left over from the two events which speak of this particular style and size of basket. So whatever number is the total of six cakes times twenty-four baskets would be the amount of loaves or cakes left over from the fragments. Multiply that total number by one thousand and that would be how many the twenty-four leftover over baskets might have fed. :D
