Jesus's Preparational New Testament Teachings (While under the OT):
(Continued):

11. Do not disobey the words of Jesus.
(For disobeying the words of Jesus will cause one to fall greatly)
"And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."
(Matthew 7:26-27).

12. Confess Jesus to others.
(And Jesus will confess you before His Father in Heaven)
"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 10:32).

13. Do not deny Jesus before anyone.
(For in doing so, Jesus will deny you before the Father in Heaven)
"But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 10:33).

14. Do not love your family more than Jesus.
(For in doing so, you will not be worthy of Him)
"He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." (Matthew 10:37).

15. Do not refuse to follow Jesus and take up your cross.
(For in doing so, you will not be worthy of Him)
"And he that takes not his cross, and follows after me, is not worthy of me." (Matthew 10:38).

16. Do not find your life.
(For in doing so, you will lose your life)
"He that finds his life shall lose it" (Matthew 10:39).

17. Lose your life for Christ's sake.
(And you shall find your life)
"...and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it." (Matthew 10:39).

18. Receive Jesus.
(And you will also receive God the Father)
"...he that receives me receives him that sent me." (Matthew 10:40).

19. Receive a prophet from God.
(For in doing so, you will receive the same reward a prophet gets)
"If you welcome a prophet because he is a man of God, you will be given the same reward a prophet gets." (Matthew 10:41 TLB).

20. Receive a righteous man from God.
(For in doing so, you will receive the same reward a righteous man gets).
"And if you welcome good and godly men because of their godliness, you will be given a reward like theirs."
(Matthew 10:41 TLB).

21. Give water to a child who needs it in the name of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.
(For in doing so, you will never lose such a precious reward)
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. (Matthew 10:42).

22. Do not be offended by Jesus.
(For you will be blessed by God if you are not offended by Christ).
"And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me." (Matthew 11:6).

....

These are some heavy teachings from Christ here (in the quoted box above, or in Post #21). Most of those in the Eternal Security camp will just right most of these teachings off by saying that they do not apply to them because they now are forgiven of all their sins: past, present, and future by having a belief on Jesus. Yet, Scripture says,

"If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to ... the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing," (1 Timothy 6:3-4).

"God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble."
(James 4:6).

In fact, these teachings (in the quoted box above) should give all believers a moment of pause. Is one truly following Jesus? Is one truly taking up their cross or suffering for His sake? Are we truly not ashamed of Christ everywhere we go? Meaning, are there times you are not talking about Jesus with people? If so, then why not? These are all deep questions that should hit us all in the gut (If we are not doing them).

So how can we change? It begins with God. Ask Him to change you. Fast, and pray and seek after His righteousness (i.e. His "good work" to flow thru you) and you will be filled. Pray so as tell others about Jesus today. Ask God to change you to follow Him more. Ask God how you can suffer for His cause today. Let Jesus live and reign in your life. Call out to God. Make Him known in your life. Live the life that you know you should be living for Him. Let His goodness transform you more and more (Being conformed more and more into the image of the Son). This is the reason why we are here. To have a real walk and relationship with the Lord not in word only (But in power by His Spirit transforming us and our lives like only He can do).

I say this in love and with the hope that all here will come to see the goodness that we can learn in obeying the Lord's teachings within the New Testament.

May God's love shine upon you all today.
And may you please be well.

Sincerely,

~ Jason.

Old Testament Commands mentioned in the New Testament before the cross that do not apply to New Covenant believers today.

Commands by Jesus given to specific people before the cross:

1. Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. (Matthew 5:24).

2. Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (Matthew 10:5-6).

Commands Jesus' quotes from OT Scripture that He changes during His Earthly ministry before the cross:

1. "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" (Matthew 5:38, cf. Exodus 21:24).
(But Jesus says to, "...resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also." - Matthew 5:39).

2. He that curses father or mother, let him die the death. (Matthew 15:4, cf. Exodus 21:17).
(But Jesus said, "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." - John 3:17).

Side Note:

Please take note that I mentioned these Commands because they were mentioned within the writings of the New Testament. They are Commands found in the writings of the New Testament, but they do not apply to New Testament believers today.

1. Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. (Matthew 5:24).

Why would Jesus tell someone to be reconciled with a man first before being reconciled with God before the altar here?
Well, it's because in the Old Covenant, the blood of goats and bulls (as a part of the sacrifices under the Aaronic priesthood) never took away sin (Hebrews 10:4). It would be Jesus and His sacrifice that would solve man's sin problem. Jesus was going to be the perfect sacrifice and it would be thru his blood that man would be able to find true redemption (Whereby sin could be permanently atoned for instead of having to revisit the same sins year after year).

Jesus's Preparational New Testament Commandments (While Under the OT):
(Continued):

76. Honor your father and mother (Matthew 15:4) (Matthew 19:19).

77. Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees (Matthew 16:6).

78. Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3).

79. Take heed that you despise not one of these little ones;
(for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven). (Matthew 18:10).

80. Moreover if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone: if he shall hear you, you have gained your brother. (Matthew 18:15).

81. But if he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. (Matthew 18:16).

82. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto you as a heathen man and a tax collector. (Matthew 18:17).

83. Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them!
(For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these). (Matthew 19:14).

84. Keep the commandments.
(If you will enter into life, keep the commandments) (Matthew 19:17).

85. You shall not steal, (Matthew 19:18).

86. You shall not bear false witness, (Matthew 19:18).

87. You shall love your neighbour as yourself. (Matthew 19:19) (Matthew 22:39).
(Essentially called the: "Second Greatest Commandment").
(All the laws within the Old Covenant hung upon the Two Greatest Commandments).

Side Note:

Please take note that the believer today is under the New Covenant Commands and Laws and not the Old Covenant Commands. For even the moral laws of the Old Covenant have death penalties attached to them (Which is not the case under the New Covenant today). In other words, believers today are to look to the New Testament, and not the Old Testament so as to obey the Lord. During Christ's ministry before the cross: Jesus was making changes in the Law and providing commands and teaching so as to prepare the New Covenant believer for the New Testament (Which would officially begin with Christ's death upon the cross).

78. Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3).

We have to be converted and become as little children so as to enter the Kingdom of God. Children are innocent and they are also willing to learn and obey their parents. Children's minds are like sponges. Once they receive a teaching, it is ingrained into them a lot easier than say an adult man who is accustomed to his old ways. In other words, children are under a parent to learn from them and to be loved by them. This is what we must be willing to do for God (who is our Father or ultimate parent) if we are to enter the Kingdom of God. But many today, believe we can sin and still be right with God, though (Whether it be a lot of sin or a little bit of sin over the course of the rest of their life). But God wants us to obey Him as obedient and good children. For we know that the Scriptures say that the Wrath of God abides on the children of disobedience (See Colossians 3).

"Render ... unto God the things that are God's." (Matthew 22:21).

90. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. (Matthew 22:37).
(Essentially called the: "First Greatest Commandment").

91. Be not ye called Rabbi:
(for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.)

I have updated the Commands a bit.
I have eliminated a few on the Command's list that did not sound like direct Commands by the Lord and have added them to an offline teachings list (that is not yet posted on this thread yet) instead.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this.

I also re-edited my last two posts in regards to the Commands List so as to add a "Side Note" to clarify my statements in regards to the "Old Covenant" for the two greatest commandments (Which is Command numbers 87 and 90).

I hope this helps.
May God bless you all.
And please be well.

(Essentially called the: "First Greatest Commandment").
(All the laws within the Old Covenant hung upon the Two Greatest Commandments).

We are to love God. That is the 1st and Greatest Commandment. This is our purpose. To love God. For we are to love God with all our heart (emotions), all our soul (the very inner fiber of our being), and with all our mind (with every facet of our intelligence and thoughts). Luke says we are to love God with all our strength, too. This would be loving God with our physical strength (i.e. our body).

A Study of the Scriptures: All the New Testament Commands & Teachings.

This is a Bible study thread so as to discuss all the New Testament Commands and Teachings in Scripture so as to guide the believer deeper into the Sanctification process or into holiness.

Warning: Please Read Thread Rules Below Before Posting.

Rule #1. This is not a debate thread. This is a study thread. If you disagree with an interpretation or view expressed here, you can say how you disagree in one or two sentences, but you must provide a link to a new thread (or one that was previously created in the past) to produce your reasons as to not interrupt the purpose of this study.

Rule #2. I will put forth the Commands and Teachings (Taken directly from Scripture) and nobody else. Please no random mention of God's Commands or a general discussion of God's Commands within the Bible. If you disagree with how the Commands are put forth, state your reasons briefly in one or two sentences and provide a link to another thread to discuss such a thing. The purpose of this study is to stay on track with discussing the Commands and Teachings of the Bible. This is not a thread about the debate of the Bible or about how you disagree with someone. This is a Bible Study thread which is supposed to help enrichen your beliefs about the New Testament Commands and Teachings in God's Word. Also, there is absolutely no discussion about the Old Testament Commands or teachings here. This is strictly New Covenant Commands and Teachings for the believer today (That can be found in the New Testament).

Rule #3. Stay on point with only the Commands being currently discussed. No past Command type discussions that are really old. Please try and discuss only the current Commands under discussion. Granted, I will allow a few comments after a group of Commands has just passed, but such discussion should not continue on and on so as to interupt the current Command discussion or study. If you want to add to a past discussion on God's Commands (that has been over for a long while), start another thread. The purpose is to stay on point with each of the group sets of Commands I will put forth. This would also include refraining from telling a Command (or Commands) that is still yet future for us to discuss, too. If you feel a Command has been missed, please PM me and I will be happy to discuss it with you (and possibly add it). Thank you.

The Last Old Testament Prophet's Commandments (While under the OT):
(Which Lines up with New Testament Commandments):

1. Repent / Confess sins.
First mentioned by John the Baptist in the New Testament.
(Old Testament prophet, but later repeated by Jesus, John, and Paul).
(Repent / Confess your sins: Matthew 3:1, Matthew 3:6).

2. Repent / Turn From your Wicked Ways.
First mentioned by John the Baptist in the New Testament.
(Old Testament prophet, but later repeated by Jesus and Paul).
Words that sound similar.
(a) Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make your paths straight.
(Matthew 3:8) (Mark 1:3-4).

3. Bring forth fruits worthy of Repentance.
(i.e. Do those type of works for God that are worthy of your repentance.)

Jesus's Preparational New Testament Commandments (While Under the OT):

1. You shall not tempt the Lord your God (Matthew 4:7)

2. You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve (Matthew 4:10)

3. Repent (Matthew 4:17).

4. Follow Me (Matthew 4:19).

5. Rejoice when you are persecuted (Matthew 5:12).

6. Let your Light shine before men (Matthew 5:16).

7. Your righteousness must exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees or you will not enter the Kingdom of God (Matthew 5:20).

8. You shall not kill (murder) (Matthew 5:21) (Matthew 19:18).

9. Do not hate your brother without a cause or you will be danger of Judgment
(Matthew 5:22).

10. Do not call your brother an "Idiot" or a "Moron" (Raca) or you will be in danger of being brought before the council of God's people (Matthew 5:22).

11. Do not call your brother a "fool" or "reprobate" or you will be in danger of Hell fire.
(Matthew 5:22).

12. Settle an agreement with your adversary quickly (or make peace with them swiftly) otherwise they could take you to court and have you imprisoned. (Matthew 5:25).

13. You shall not commit adultery. (Matthew 5:27) (Matthew 19:18).

14. You shall not look upon a woman in lust; For by doing so, you are committing adultery with her in your heart (Matthew 5:28).

15. If your right eye or right hand offends you (Because you are looking upon a woman lustfully), it would be better if you completely remove your eye and your hand (metaphorically speaking) instead of having one's entire body being cast into the Lake of Fire.
(Matthew 5:29-30) (Matthew 18:8-9).

16. Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery. (Matthew 5:32) (Matthew 19:9).

17. Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committes adultery. (Matthew 5:32) (Matthew 19:9).

18. Do not swear or make promises by anything. Do not swear by Heaven, Earth, Jerusalem, or your head, etc. Let your yes be yes and let your no be no.(Matthew 5:34-37).

19. Resist not evil (Matthew 5:39).

20. If any hits you on the one cheek, turn to him the other cheek, too (Matthew 5:39).

21. If any man sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also (Matthew 5:40).

22. If any man compells you to walk with him one mile, walk with him for two miles (Matthew 5:41).

23. Give to them that asks of you (Matthew 5:42).

24. Do not turn away him that wants to borrow from you (Matthew 5:42).

25. Love your enemies. (Matthew 5:44).

26. Bless them that curse you. (Matthew 5:44).

27. Do good to them that hate you. (Matthew 5:44).

28. Pray for them that despitefully use you and for those who persecute you.(Matthew 5:44).

29. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48).

30. Do not do give for the cause of God so as to be seen by others, otherwise you will have no reward from your Father in Heaven. (Matthew 6:1). Neither announce your giving before others like the hypocrites do who seek the glory of men (Matthew 6:2).

31. When you give, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing
Make it a habit to give to God in secret and He will reward you openly (Matthew 6:3-4).

32. When you pray, do not do so publically so as to be seen by others (Matthew 6:5).

33. When you pray, shut your door and pray privately (Matthew 6:6).

34. When you pray, do not use vain repetitions like the heathen does; For they think they will be heard for their much speaking (Matthew 6:7).

35. After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13).

36. If ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (Matthew 6:14).

37. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:15) (Matthew 18:21-35).

38. Moreover when you fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. (Matthew 6:16).

39. But when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face so that you appear not unto men to fast, but unto your Father which is in secret; For your Father, which sees in secret, shall reward you openly. (Matthew 6:17-18)

40. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (Matthew 6:19).

41. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6:20). For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

42. You cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24).

43. Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. (Matthew 6:25). Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

44.Seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33).

45. Take therefore no thought for the tomorrow: for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. (Matthew 6:34). Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

46. Do not judge unless you have been judged yourself (Matthew 7:1).

47. Do not judge hypocritically. Take the beam out of your own eyes then you will see clearly to take the beam out of your brother's eye. (Matthew 7:5).

48. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, otherwise they will trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. (Matthew 7:6).

49. Ask, and it shall be given you; (Matthew 7:7).

50. Seek, and you shall find; (Matthew 7:7).

51. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:7).

Jesus's Preparational New Testament Teachings (While under the OT):

1. Speak God's Word (And live spiritually);
For man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God that proceeeds out of his mouth (Matthew 4:4) (Deuteronomy 8:3).

Be-Attitudes:
(Matthew 5:3-9):

2. Be Poor or Humble in Spirit (Be-Attitude #1).
(For the poor or humble in Spirit are of the Kingdom of Heaven)
(And they are blessed by God).
(And they will be exalted or lifted up - Matthew 23:12).

3. Be Sorrowful in a Godly way (Be-Attitude #2).
(For those who have a Godly sorrow will be comforted)
(And they are blessed by God).

4. Be Kind (Be-Attitude #3).
(For those who are kind will inherit the Earth)
(And they are blessed by God).

5. Be Hungry and Thirsty for Righteousness (Be-Attitude #4).
(For those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled)
(And they are blessed by God).

6. Be Merciful (Be-Attitude #5).
(For those who are merciful shall receive mercy)
(And they are blessed by God).

7. Be Pure in heart (Be-Attitude #6).
(For those who are pure in heart will see God)
(And they are blessed by God).

8. Be a Peace Maker (Be-Attitude #7).
(For those who are peace makers will be called the "Children of God")
(And they are blessed by God).

9. Do the will of the Father.
For he that does the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. For not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21) (Matthew 12:50).

10. Hear and obey the words of Jesus.
For hearing and obeying the words of Jesus brings wisdom and security. For Jesus said, "whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:" (Matthew 7:24).

Anyways, here is my response to what you had written:

First, this is not a debate thread, but a study thread. If you want to argue, this is not the place. I have laid out specific rules in the original post that make it clear that this is not a traditional debate thread but a thread where believers can come together over God's Word and share what they believe God's Word is saying. It's a study thread. Sort of like a Bible study.

Two, last I checked it was not wrong for believers to have a Bible study (without any kind of Theological training). Also, what do you think the purpose of being on a Bible discussion website is? Are we not here to comment and talk about the Bible? Are the requirements for us to talk about God's Word here need to fall under your approval?

Three, men of God do not gain knowledge of God's Word by going into debt to other men. God's Word is free and we are actually guided into all truth by the Spirit. Yes, there are teachers in the body of Christ (Because some people need them), but not everyone in the body of Christ required a teacher so as to be taught the Word by the Lord. How so? 1 John 2:27 says this,

"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." (1 John 2:27).

I mean, do you honestly believe that every single believer thru out time had formal seminary training so as to have the knowledge of God's Word by the Spirit? Here are some verses for you to consider,

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you." (John 14:26).

"When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths" (1 Corinthians 2:13).

"So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32).

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15).

In fact, just because one is a teacher, does not mean you have understanding, too. For the Scriptures say,

"I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation." (Psalms 119:99).

This is so childish dear friend! You will get more people here if you were not so arrogant. We are all here in Jesus. No need to be so nasty about reporting! How can civilwarbuff's post be disruptive? (He will be saying this post is disruptive next!)
