When The people Jesus feed at Tiberias came to Capernaum ; and asked Him what sign was He going perform; John 6:30; so they may believe Him; they said, John 6:31, "Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat." quoting Psalms 78:24.

Jesus then said; John 6:32,33; "Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

So is the psalms wrong calling it the "bread from heaven"? Or is it a contrast in that the "manna"; as the house of Israel called it in Exodus 16:31; to what Moses said was "the bread which the Lord has given you to eat." Exodus 16:15? So where was the Manna from?

Or is it the contrast that Jesus is the true "bread of heaven" not the earthly "manna" that the Isrealites received in the desert?

Edit:all my quotes from NKJV.

Yes I agree the contrast is in that which perishes and that which has eternal life. The people were distressed that He called Himself the bread of life saying "is this not the son of Joseph yet he says he came from heaven?" The manna in the desert sustained the people for the day while the manna of the Lord is for eternal life. Those who ate in the desert died and didn't obtain a heavenly life from the eating of it. Those who do eat (believe in) Jesus, He says that is what gives heavenly life.
John 6:27 Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you; for Him has the Father, even God, sealed.
