Happy Thanksgiving!
They certainly were.

In fact it must be recognized that the vast majority of the fields opened for evangelism in the 19th century (the "great century of Christian missions") were pioneered by those who held to "Reformed" theology.

So much for the idea that Calvinism has a cooling effect on evangelism. :)

It is why Paul endures all things, that is so that those who are elect will also obtain salvation.

That should be our motivation as well. Acknowledging God commands all men everywhere to repent and believe the gospel, as well as that only the elect will actually obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory, they His very own elect will all of them be glorified together with Christ. We preach a salvation to all that if they believe in Christ, they will have eternal life, all the while knowing only the elect will obtain it, and that according to the council of His own will. He has foreordained them to glory who are His very own elect which He has chosen beforehand. Only they will respond to the call, since many are called, but few elect. (chosen). In the greek that word 'chosen' is 'elect'

The outward call of God commanding all to repent and believe, Acts 17, but the inner call is for the chosen, His elect.
Mat 22:14
“For many are called, but few are chosen.

2 Timothy 2:10
Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
