Many of the false doctrines of today are based on mistranslations of the scriptures. The mistranslations often create obscurity, and deviate from their original meanings, creating much confusion as to what was really being said in the original language. One of these mistranslations is what we see in most English bibles of today rendered as "forever and ever", and also "eternal". Did it ever occur to you, how can you add "ever" to something that is already "forever"? Its nonsensical. And even though it can be said that it was perhaps trying to add emphasis to forever, when going into study of the original words, does it become obvious that it was not. The problem of "forever and ever" does not necessarily exist in other translated languages, as even the Spanish Reina Valera 1960, commonly used in most Spanish speaking countries renders the original words in closer meaning to the original words,
y el humo de su tormento sube por los siglos de los siglos. Y no tienen reposo de día ni de noche los que adoran a la bestia y a su imagen, ni nadie que reciba la marca de su nombre. (Apocalipsis 14:11 [RVR1960])

So what is "los siglos de los siglos" mean in Spanish? It means the "the centuries of the centuries". But even so, we know that the scriptures do not operate in periods of one hundred, but instead, operate in much longer periods of time, more accurately conveyed by the word "age", or preferably "eon", as the noun eon can be used as an adjective much easier than the noun age can in the English language, just as the original language interchangeably uses the same word in both noun and adjective forms in the Greek language. So what was the original word? It was the root word "aion", which is a noun indicating a long time with beginning and end, usually in the thousands of years. And this noun has a family of noun words in the Greek which vary depending on singular or plural and other circumstances in the context, which are mainly these other nouns, "aionas", "aioni", "aionon", "aionos", "aiosin", "aiona", "aionos". You can view the family of words here. The first scripture we will study is Luke 16:8, and you can see the interlinear of this scripture here, lets quote the verse,
And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world [aionios] are in their generation wiser than the children of light. (Luke 16:8 [KJV])

This is the King James rendering of it. Notice how it translates it as "world". This is incorrect, as "world" has its own Greek word, which is "kosmos", as we see evident in this other scripture in John 1:10, and you can look at the interlinear for that verse here, lets quote that scripture,
He was in the world, and the world [kosmos] was made by him, and the world knew him not. (John 1:10 [KJV])

Again, causing confusion. So how do we know that "aion" is dealing with time and not world? Lets look at these scriptures the first being Colossians 1:26 and you can look at the interlinear for that here,
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (Colossians 1:26 [KJV])

This is the same King James Version, now rendering the same root word "aion", now correctly as "ages", since having translated it as "worlds" would not have made sense, since there has only been one world in existence since creation. So what should the Luke 16:8 verse have been translated as? Like this,
And the master praised the unrighteous manager for he acted with practicality. For the sons of this eon are more practical than the sons of the light are their own in generation. (Luke 16:8 [ABP])

The word should've been translated as "eon", as it is more accurately translated in this version called the Apostolic Bible Polyglot. So what are some more usages of the word "aion" that make more sense with the beginning and ending of a set time, lets look,
As then the tares are collected together and incinerated in fire, so it will be in the completion of this eon. (Matthew 13:40 [ABP])
and the anxieties of this eon, and the deception of the riches, and on account of the remaining desires entering in, they choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. (Mark 4:19 [ABP])
[34] And answering Jesus said to them, The sons of this age marry and give in marriage. [35] But the ones being deemed worthy of that age to attain and of the resurrection of the ones from the dead, neither marry nor give in marriage.
(Luke 20:34-35 [ABP])
in which the god of this eon blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so as to not shine forth to them the illumination of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is image of the unseen of God. (II Corinthians 4:4 [ABP])

See, now that we have a better understanding of the word "aion", does it start giving more clarity to these verses. We have an understanding that we are in an "eon" that is evil, and that this "eon" ends, and a new "eon" begins with a resurrection of those worthy to attain that next "eon" when this current one ends.

So now that we have concludes that the Greek word "aion" means a specific time with beginning and end, what about its adjective form? The adjective form of "aion" is "aionion", which in English would be "eonian". This is why using the word eon is better than age, because trying to age as an adjective is difficult, "age life", "age punishment", makes no sense in English, however, if you use the root word eon as an adjective, then you can properly render it as "eonian life", and "eonian punishment", which makes more sense in English. So if eon is a very long time with beginning and end, then what is eonian? Eonian is an adjective that describes whatever it is describing as lasting a very long time. Can it describe something that is endless? Yes, and I will demonstrate examples where it does. Can it also describe something that ends? Yes, and I will demonstrate examples where it does there as well. Lets study first where it describes things that end. There is a Hebrew word equivalent to "eonian", and it is "olam", and its definition and usages can be seen in this interlinear here. "olam" is also rendered as "eternal" from the Hebrew scriptures just as they are from the Greek scriptures, and lets look at this first example,
The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren. (Genesis 49:26 [KJV])

Are any hills everlasting? No, we even see in the new heaven and new earth that the earth will be made new, so how could these hills then be said to be everlasting? However, can they be very ancient hills or hills that last a very long time? Yes. Hence they can be said to be "eonion hills", meaning hills that last a long time or have existed a long time. Lets look at another scripture,
And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. (Exodus 12:17 [KJV])

Was this ordinance to observe the feast of unleavened bread in fact an ordinance that must be followed forever? No, it was observed for a long time until Jesus brought forth the new covenant, as even Paul says,
Let not then anyone judge you in food or in drink, or in the rank of a holiday feast, or new moon, or sabbaths, (Colossians 2:16 [ABP])

So that ordinance was in fact an eonion ordinance. An ordinance to be followed for a very long time, and it that case until the coming forth of the new covenant under Jesus Christ. So what we see here is the same conveyance of "eonian", that although it pertains to something that lasts a very long time, it can pertain to something that ends. Lets look at examples where eonian pertains to something that doesn't end,
For thus richly shall be supplied to you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and deliverer Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:11 [ABP])

So this should have been translated as eonion kingdom. So what does eonian kingdom convey? That it is a kingdom that lasts a very long time, in fact, it never ends, as we know in this other scripture,
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob into the eons, and of his kingdom there shall not be an end. (Luke 1:33 [ABP])

So we know that this kingdom does not end because this scripture says it does not, not because eonian means endless, as we showed in those other scriptures that eonian things can also end. So in this sense, eonian speaks of something that does not end, but it itself does not define the thing that it describes as endless. Eonian describes something as lasting a very long time, so then we must look at other scriptures to try to determine how long it will last. In this case, it never ends, because we have another scripture telling us how long it lasts, so although "eternal" could be used to describe this kingdom, its not what the original word means, because eonian things can end. So if we render the word "eternal" here, then we are forced to render it in other passages where it may not be referring to things that do not end.

So lets move on to one of the big question, what then is eonion life? Eonian life is a life that lasts a very long time. But does it end? No. How do we know this? Because of these scriptures,
And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not be any more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor misery -- it shall not be any more, for the first things departed. (Revelation of John 21:4 [ABP])
But whenever this corruptible should have put on incorruptibility, and this mortal should have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the word having been written, death was swallowed down in victory. (I Corinthians 15:54 [ABP])

So even though eonion life does not in itself mean endless life because of the mean of eonion, we know that this eonian life does not end because of these other verses that indicate that death will be no more and that we will put on immortality. So these other verses are defining how long this eonian life is, it is endless. So in this case, it could also be accurate to call it "eternal life", but again, if you render that original word as "eternal", then you are forced to use it in other areas where it may not be referring to endless things, creating confusion.

So what then is the eonian fire men will be thrown into that is also commonly called as Hell? Lets look at a scripture mentioning this fire,
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (Matthew 25:41)
[43] And if your hand should cause you to stumble, cut it off! It is good to you to enter crippled into life, rather than having two hands to go forth into Gehenna, into the inextinguishable fire, [44] where their worm does not come to an end, and the fire is not extinguished.
(Mark 9:43-44 [ABP])

So here we have one verse saying that it is an "eonion fire", then in the other that this place is also called Gehenna, that it is a place where the worm does not come to and end, and that the fire is not extinguished. At first glance, it seems that this eonion fire will never end, but lets study more deeply to uncover the truth on the matter. That last verse in Mark where the worm does not die and fire is not quenched is actually an old prophecy in Isaiah, lets take a look,
And they shall go forth, and shall see the carcasses of men, the ones violating against me. For their worm shall not come to an end, and their fire shall not be extinguished. And they will be for a sight to all flesh. (Isaiah 66:24 [ABP])

The fire Jesus was referring to is the same fire this passage also speaks of. And what is the biggest thing to note about this passage? It says the "carcasses of men" will be visible that are thrown into this fire. Did you catch that? Carcasses. You can only have a carcass if you die. So in fact, those who are tossed into this fire of Gehenna, otherwise called Hell, are in fact killed by this fire. And what else can be noted about this fire? That it will be a sight to all flesh. Meaning this fire will exist on the earth and it will be seen by everyone living on the earth, hence "flesh". Do we have any other evidence of this? Yes, lets look,
[1] For behold, a day comes burning as an oven; and it shall blaze against them, and all the foreigners will be, and all the ones doing lawless deeds, as stubble. And the day coming shall light them, says the LORD of the forces; and in no way shall there be left of them root nor vine branch. [2] And to you, O ones fearing my name, shall arise sun of righteousness, and healing is in his wings; and you shall come forth and shall leap as young calves being spared from out of the bonds. [3] And you shall trample the lawless ones; and they will be ashes underneath your feet in the day which I prepare, says the LORD almighty.
(Malachi 4:1-3 [ABP])

So if the wicked become as ash, and those that are kept alive will be able to walk over their ashes under their feet after they are consumed, it stands to reason that this fire will be a place on the earth. So this fire exist yet on the earth? No. Notice that even this scripture says it is "prepared". Meaning it will come forth when it is time for it to come forth. But then what does "their worm shall not come to an end mean"? It certainly does not mean immortal worms as most ignorantly believe it to mean. It means that there will not be an end to worms in this place. Why? Because this is an eonian place. Meaning a place that will exist for a very long time. Hence why it is also said to be the place where the "fire is not extinguished". What this means is that it will not be like any other fire that merely burns and extinguishes once it consumes whatever it is burning. This will in fact be a lake of fire that will continue burning for a very long time, hence "fire that will not be extinguished". How long will this fire burn for then? It will burn for around a thousand years, which is indeed a very long time, hence eionan fire. Here we see the evidence of how long it burns,
And the beast was laid hold, and with this one the false prophet, the one performing the signs before him, in which he misled the ones receiving the imprint of the beast, and the ones doing obeisance to his image. The two were thrown living into the lake of fire burning with sulphur. (Revelation of John 19:20 [ABP])

So this event we know happens after the second coming of Jesus Christ, because it is he who causes them to be thrown into this fire when he wages war against them, as we see evident in this verse that precedes that,
And I saw the heaven being opened, and behold, a white horse; and the one sitting upon him being called trustworthy and true, and with righteousness he judges and wages war. (Revelation of John 19:11 [ABP])

So this eonian fire burns from the time of the second coming to the time of the final judgment. As we see evident in this scripture,
And if any should not be found written in the book of life he was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation of John 20:15 [ABP])

Here again, at the final judgment, the lake of fire still exists. And what occurs between the time of the second coming to the time of the final judgment? The thousand year reign of Christ and the saints,
Blessed and holy is the one having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation of John 20:6 [ABP])

So this is why it is called an eonian fire and the "fire that is not extinguished", because it is a fire that burns for around a thousand years. Going further, do we see other evidences that this fire destroys its subjects? Yes, in something Jesus said,
And fear not of the ones killing the body, but not being able to kill the soul! But you fear rather the one being able both the soul and body to destroy in Gehenna! (Matthew 10:28 [ABP])

What this scripture is saying is, don't be afraid of someone who can just kill the body, but rather, be afraid of God who can kill the body and soul in Gehenna. And it doesn't just say kill, it says "destroy". Meaning completely eradicate. Who else will be eradicated and destroyed in this fire? Angels and demons. How do we know they will be eradicated as well? Lets look at this passage,
[13] you bound on in the luxury of the paradise of God; you bound on every precious stone -- sardius, and topaz, and emerald, and carbuncle, and sapphire, and jasper, and silver, and gold, and amber, and agate, and amethyst, and chrysolite, and beryl, and onyx. And with gold you filled up your treasuries and your storehouses among you. [14] From which day you were created and were carefully prepared with the cherub being anointed by God, and encamping in the tent, even I put you on the holy mount of God; you existed among the midst of the stones of fire. [15] You were unblemished in your days of which day you were created, until of which time the offences were found in you. [16] From the abundance of your trade you filled your storerooms with lawlessness, and sinned. And you were wounded from the mountain of God, and the cherub overshadowing led you from out of the midst of the stones of fire. [17] Your heart was raised up high over your beauty; your higher knowledge was corrupted with your beauty because of the multitude of your sins. I tossed you upon the earth; I put you before kings to be made an example. [18] Because of the multitude of your sins and the iniquities of your trade you profaned your temples; and I will lead fire from out of your midst, this shall devour you; and I will put you for ashes upon the earth before all the ones seeing you. [19] And all the ones knowing you among the nations shall be gloomy over you; you became for destruction, and you shall not exist any longer into the eon.
(Ezekiel 28:13-19 [ABP])

This scripture is talking about Satan, as it describes this being as being in Eden and as having been tossed upon the earth, as we even read here,
And the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent, the one being called the devil and Satan; the one misleading the entire inhabitable world was cast unto the earth, and his angels were cast with him. (Revelation of John 12:9 [ABP])

So what does the prophecy in Ezekiel say concerning the fate of Satan? That the fire will devour Satan and that he will no longer exist. Yes, that same fire of Gehenna that will devour those that are tossed into it. So the fate of eradication also applies to Satan.

So, this eonian fire consumes its subjects and is itself also called the eonian punishment,
And these shall go forth unto eternal punishment; but the righteous unto life eternal. (Matthew 25:46 [ABP])

So why is it an eonian punishment? Because it results in endless death, just as eonian life results in endless life. Those that are tossed into this fire are never brought back to life, they are obliterated. The final resurrection occurs at the very end of the eon, and even death and hades are destroyed in this fire, so therefore it stands to reason if no more resurrections occur ever, and that death and hades are also destroyed, that this destruction is indeed endless. So even in this scripture, can "eternal" punishment and "eternal" life be used, but as I said earlier, doing so would force you to render the usage of the word in other areas where it may not be endless. Lets look at these scriptures pertaining to the final destruction of death and hades,
[14] And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death -- the lake of fire. [15] And if any should not be found written in the book of life he was cast into the lake of fire.
(Revelation of John 20:14-15 [ABP])

So, are death and hades completely eradicated in this fire as well? Absolutely. Because in further reading, we read that death is no more. But will this fire end? Yes, it will become a former thing in the new heaven and new earth, as it has suited its purpose in the complete destruction of all the wicked and even in the destruction of death and hades. Here we read,
And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not be any more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor misery -- it shall not be any more, for the first things departed. (Revelation of John 21:4 [ABP])

These things will in fact no longer exist at all in the new heaven and new earth. And Isaiah also affirms the same thing,
For there will be the new heaven, and the new earth. And in no way shall they remember the former things, nor in any way shall it come upon their heart. (Isaiah 65:17 [ABP])

If indeed this fire existed endlessly, wouldn't it stand to reason that those seeing it on the new heaven and earth would then call to memory what happened in it? Or if even the wicked kept burning on endlessly wouldn't it then also violate this scripture since then it would indicate that there is still suffering? So no, the eonian fire will also become a former thing. Lets look at another scripture that is known to also cause much confusion on the matter,
And the devil, the one misleading them was cast into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet are. And they shall be tormented day and night into the eons of the eons. (Revelation of John 20:10 [ABP])

The first thing to note is that those thrown into this fire are indeed tormented. Have you ever considered dying being burned alive? It is extremely painful. I know because I've burned myself with something hot, and even that was extremely painful. So imagine being burned alive with fire. Its terrifying. So the eonian fire, although it does consume its subjects, does also inflict excruciating pain and torment. Next, notice how the verse then says "day and night". This indicates a gradual tossing of the wicked into the fire, not a tossing of all the wicked at once. Each is tossed into it as each is judged, hence "day and night" the wicked are tormented as they are tossed into it for the time it will take to judge all of them. Do we see other examples of "day and night"? Yes.
[9] Sink them, O LORD, and divide their tongues! for I saw lawlessness and dispute in the city. [10] Day and night he shall encircle her upon her walls; and lawlessness and misery will be in the midst of her;
(Psalms 55:9-10 [ABP])
And always, night and day, in the mountains, and in the tombs, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones. (Mark 5:5 [ABP])

In this scriptures its not referring to and endless action, but rather, something that happened continually for as long as it happened. The same with the "day and night" time of torment, the wicked will be each gradually tossed into the fire as each is first judged, then punished, to be tormented and consumed by it. So if for example, one hundred men were appointed to be tossed into the fire, and ten were thrown into it each day for ten days as each was judged, here we would have a "day and night" continuance until the ten days of the consummation of all the one hundred was complete. So who does the judging? Those that are raised in Jesus Christ and partake in the first resurrection, as it is said,
Do you not know that the holy ones shall judge the world? And if by you the world is judged, are you unworthy of the judgment seat of the least? (I Corinthians 6:2 [ABP])
Do you not know that we shall judge angels? how much more indeed of the cares of life? (I Corinthians 6:3 [ABP])
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them; and the souls of the ones hewn with an axe on account of the testimony of Jesus, and on account of the word of God, and whoever did not do obeisance to the beast, nor to his image, and did not take the imprint upon their forehead, and upon their hand; and they lived and reigned with the Christ a thousand years. (Revelation of John 20:4 [ABP])

And in what manner are all those that are tossed in the fire judged? Each according to works,
[5] But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and of revelation of righteous judgment of God; [6] who will recompense each according to his works;
(Romans 2:5-6 [ABP])
And the sea gave up the ones dead in her; and death and Hades gave up the ones of their dead. And they were judged each according to their works. (Revelation of John 20:13 [ABP])

So it could very well indicate that each may be tormented differently or "varying time of torment" before they are consumed by the fire. The other thing to note is that scripture also mentions the "eons of the eons". What are the eons of the eons? The eons of eons refers to the commencement of the eons of the new heaven and new earth, that are "the great eons of the eons". Why are they great? Because they are the eons where only righteousness will dwell,
But new heavens and a new earth, according to his declaration, we expect, in which righteousness dwells. (II Peter 3:13 [ABP])

So in fact, the torment that is carried through "day and night" until the complete consummation of the wicked, will carry through until the eons of the eons, meaning the commencement of the new heaven and new earth. And in the new heaven and new earth it is said that there will be no night,
And there will be no night there; and they have no need of a lamp, and the light of the sun, for the Lord God enlightens them; and they shall reign into the eons of the eons. (Revelation of John 22:5 [ABP])

So therefore, if the tossing of the wicked into the fire carries through "day and night" for however long it carries through, it stands to reason that it will end because all the wicked will finally be destroyed, and that there is also no night in the new heaven and new earth, therefore the "day and night" continuance will also stop by mere virtue of there being no night in the new heaven and new earth.

So we've identified the eons of the eons referring to the new heaven and new earth, but it is itself not the next eon to come after the current one we are in. Here are a few verses describing the end of this eon,
[39] and the enemy, the one sowing them is the devil; and the harvest is the completion of the age; and the harvesters are angels. [40] As then the tares are collected together and incinerated in fire, so it will be in the completion of this eon. [41] The son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather together from his kingdom all the ones causing offence, and the ones committing lawlessness. [42] And they shall throw them into the furnace of the fire; there, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth. [43] Then the just shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. The one having ears to hear let him hear! (Matthew 13:39-43 [ABP])

This is what will happen shortly after the coming of Jesus Christ. That the wicked will be gathered by angels to then be thrown into this great fire. But even before this other things will occur, here the disciples ask,
And in his sitting down upon the mount of olives, there came forward to him the disciples in private, saying, Tell us when these things will be, and what is the sign of your arrival, and the completion of the age? (Matthew 24:3 [ABP])

So Jesus answered,
[29] And immediately after the affliction of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its brightness, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the forces of the heavens shall be shaken. [30] And then shall appear the sign of the son of man in the heaven. And then all the tribes of the earth shall beat their chest. And they shall see the son of man coming upon the clouds of the heaven with power and great glory. [31] And he shall send his angels with a trumpet of great sound. And they shall assemble his chosen from out of the four winds, from the tips of the heavens unto their tips. (Matthew 24:29-31 [ABP])

So at his second coming, he will again send angels, but this time to gather the elect as opposed to the other time where he sends angels to gather the wicked. Do we see an affirmation related to the gathering of the elect in other scriptures? Yes,
[50] But this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood are not able to inherit the kingdom of God, nor can corruption inherit incorruptibility. [51] Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall not all indeed sleep, but all shall be changed, [52] in an instant, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. For it shall trump, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
(I Corinthians 15:50-52 [ABP])
[16] For the Lord himself in a word of command by the voice of an archangel, and with a trumpet of God, shall descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ shall rise up first. [17] Thereupon we the living, the ones remaining, together with them shall be seized in clouds, for meeting the Lord in the air, and thus at all times with the Lord we shall be.
(I Thessalonians 4:16-17 [ABP])

Those that are alive, will be changed into immortal bodies in an instant, and those that are dead in Christ, will be raised from the dead, and all will be collected by angels to meet the Lord in the air as he descends upon the clouds. Will this powerful second coming and this great collection of the elect be evident to the people of the earth? Yes.
[25] And there shall be signs among the sun, and moon, and stars; and upon the earth conflict of nations, in perplexity of resounding sea and tossing about; [26] men fainting from fear and expectation of the things coming to the inhabitable world; for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. [27] And then they shall see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and much glory.
(Luke 21:25-27 [ABP])
[15] And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the commanders of thousands, and the rich, and the mighty ones, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the caves, and in the rocks of the mountains. [16] And they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of the one sitting upon the throne, and from the anger of the lamb! [17] For is come the great day of his anger; and who is able to stand?
(Revelation of John 6:15-17 [ABP])
And the militaries, the ones in the heaven followed him upon white horses, being clothed in clean white fine linen. (Revelation of John 19:14 [ABP])

Jesus is said to come upon the clouds, and that he will be visible to all men, and event the elect that have been gathered by angels will be behind him and will also be visible, even this scripture affirms the same,
[9] And having said these things, of their looking, he was lifted up, and a cloud undertook him from their eyes. [10] And as they were gazing into the heaven at his going, and behold, two men stood by them in white attire, [11] ones who also said, Men, Galileans, why do you stand looking into the heaven? This Jesus, the one being taken up from you into the heaven, so shall come in which manner you saw him going into the heaven.
(Acts 1:9-11 [ABP])

So at the end of this eon, the dead in Jesus Christ are raised into immortal bodies, those that are alive in him are changed into immortal bodies in an instant, and then these two groups of believers are gathered together by angels and taken to the meet the Lord in the air, and also comes the outpouring of the wrath of Jesus upon the earth, as he also brings war upon nations and begins to take control and possession of the earth. These are things concerning the conclusion of this eon. So what happens in the new eon about to be? The eon pertaining to the 1,000 years reign of Jesus Christ. Lets start off with an old prophecy in the Psalms concerning it,
[2] the kings of the earth stood by, and the rulers gathered together against the LORD and against his anointed one, [3] We should tear up their bonds, and we should throw away from us their yoke. [4] The one dwelling in heavens derides them, and the LORD ridicules them. [5] Then he shall speak to them in his anger; and in his rage he will disturb them. [6] But I was placed king by him over mount Zion, his holy place; [7] declaring the order of the LORD. The LORD said to me, you are my son, I today engendered you. [8] Ask from me! and I will give to you nations for your inheritance; and for your possession the ends of the earth. [9] You shall tend them with a rod of iron; as vessels of a potter you shall break them.
(Psalms 2:2-10 [ABP])

Notice first how the kings of the earth are gathered against the "annointed one". This is talking about the great battle to come at the coming of Jesus Christ that we find in Revelation,
And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their militaries being gathered together to make war with the one sitting upon the horse, and with his military. (Revelation of John 19:19 [ABP])

So at his second coming, the dead are raised and they are collected by angels to meet the Lord in the air, and also in this same time frame are the kings of the earth and their militaries gathered together to war against Jesus. So what happens next?
[20] And the beast was laid hold of, and with this one the false prophet, the one performing the signs before him, in which he misled the ones receiving the imprint of the beast, and the ones doing obeisance to his image. The two were thrown living into the lake of fire burning with sulphur. [21] And the rest were killed by the broadsword of the one sitting upon the horse, by the one going forth from out of his mouth. And all the birds were filled of their flesh.
(Revelation of John 19:20-21 [ABP])

The nation that the vision of the "beast of the sea" points to, and the nation that the "false prophet" points will both be destroyed and tossed in the great fire of gehenna. And the militaries of these two beasts are said to be destroyed by the "broadsword", which is by the very words of the Lord that they will die. The death of these militaries and kings are then said to be the great supper of God, because the birds of the air will feast on the dead bodies of kings and military men,
[17] And I saw one angel standing in the sun; and he cried out with a great voice, saying to all the birds, to the ones flying in mid-heaven, Come, and be gathered together for the great supper of God, [18] that you should eat flesh of kings, and flesh of commanders of thousands, and flesh of strong men, and flesh of horses, and of the ones sitting upon them, and flesh of all, both free and bondmen, both small and great.
(Revelation of John 19:17-18 [ABP])

So after these things occur in this new eon that starts, what happens next? The thousand year reign of the saints with Jesus Christ on there earth. There are many who believe that the saints will ascend into heaven, but this is not so. They will remain on the earth to govern the earth with Jesus Christ, as powerful and immortal beings. Lets read a couple verses indicating this,
But the ones being deemed worthy of that age to attain and of the resurrection of the ones from the dead, neither marry nor give in marriage. (Luke 20:35 [ABP])
Blessed and holy is the one having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation of John 20:6 [ABP])

The rulership will be on the earth, because even in further reading, when Satan is let loose to deceive the nations again, we read this,
And they ascended upon the width of the earth, and encircled the camp of the holy ones, and the city being loved. And fire came down from the heaven from God, and it devoured them. (Revelation of John 20:9 [ABP])

The nations that exist then will encircle the saints that have been ruling on the earth for that thousand year reign. It is an earthly rulership and a kingdom that will exist on the earth that will be inhabited by the saints and by Jesus Christ. This goes along with other prophecies concerning the this rulership on the earth. In fact, the true promised land and inheritance of the people of God is the earth,
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5 [ABP])
Ask from me! and I will give to you nations for your inheritance; and for your possession the ends of the earth. (Psalms 2:8 [ABP])
[9] And the LORD will be for king over all the earth. In that day there shall be one LORD, and his name one, [10] encircling all the earth, and the wilderness -- from Geba unto Remmon according to the south of Jerusalem. And Rama shall remain in its place; from the gate of Benjamin unto the place of the first gate, and unto the gate of the corners, and unto the tower of Hananeel, unto the wine-vats of the king. [11] And they shall dwell in it, and it will not be anathema any longer; and Jerusalem shall dwell securely. [12] And this will be the downfall in which the LORD shall smite all the peoples, as many as marched against Jerusalem. Their flesh shall melt away while standing upon their feet; and their eyes shall flow from out of their openings, and their tongue shall melt away in their mouth. [13] And there will be in that day a great astonishment from the LORD upon them; and they shall take hold each the hand of his neighbor, and shall closely join his hand to the hand of his neighbor. [14] And Judah shall deploy in Jerusalem; and he shall bring together the strength of all the peoples round about -- gold, and silver, and clothes into abundance exceedingly. [15] And this will be the downfall of the horses, and the mules, and the camels, and the donkeys, and of all the cattle of the ones being in those camps, according to this downfall. And it will be as many as should be left of all the nations coming against Jerusalem, that they shall ascend by year to do obeisance to the king, to the LORD almighty, and to solemnize the holiday of the pitching of tents.
(Zechariah 14:9-16 [ABP])
Behold, days come, says the LORD, and I will raise up to David a just dawn; and a king shall reign, and shall perceive, and shall execute equity and righteousness upon the earth. (Jeremiah 23:5 [ABP])
[9] For the ones doing wicked shall be utterly destroyed; but the ones waiting on the LORD, they shall inherit the land. [10] And yet in a short time, and in no way shall the sinner exist; and if shall you seek his place, then in no way shall you find it. [11] But the gentle shall inherit the earth, and they shall revel over an abundance of peace.
(Psalms 37:9-11 [ABP])

Finally, based on all these scriptures we can conclude the following things,
  • that Jesus Christ comes again and will descend on the clouds with great glory and will be seen by all men,
  • the first resurrection of the dead occurs and those that are in him are raised and changed into immortal and glorious bodies,
  • and those that are alive in him are changed in an instant into immortal and glorious bodies,
  • and both of these are gathered together by angels and taken to meet the Lord in the air as he descends upon the clouds,
  • the Lord will then wage war against the the nations coming against him, which includes the beast and the false prophet nations, and will take possession and control of the earth,
  • some will be thrown into the lake of fire and others will die by the "broadsword" of the Lord, which is by his very words will they be killed,
  • the wicked will be continued to be gathered by angels from the ends of the earth to be judged by the saints, and also thrown into this lake of fire, and very few will be left alive,
  • satan will be bound around this time,
  • the saints and Jesus Christ will continue to rule and govern the earth for one thousand years,
  • satan will then be set free and will deceive nations again,
  • the nations that have been deceived will come against the saints and Jesus Christ, but they will be destroyed by a fire that comes down from heaven,
  • the final judgment happens with the last resurrection where the rest of the dead come to life,
  • each will be judged according to works, and those not written in the book of life are tossed into the fire,
  • satan, his angels, and his demons will also be destroyed in this fire,
  • all the wicked are finally judged and destroyed and every knee would have bowed to Jesus,
  • death and hades are also destroyed in this fire,
  • then begins the new heaven and new earth.

May God bless you and open your understanding. You can also view this teaching on my blog http://www.wisdomofgod.co/2015/12/1...translations-of-eternal-and-forever-and-ever/ .

Therefore the misunderstanding of Jesus cursing the fig tree without fruit "for ever". This mistranslation lends itself to replacement theology. However in reality, Israel will not produce fruit for only the rest of this "age".

Presuming of course you know what the "fig tree" truly represents. In knowing the interpretation of the parable, do you then know what will not yield fruit for the rest of the eon,
And beholding one fig-tree upon the way, he came unto it and found nothing on it except leaves only. And he says to it, No longer from you should fruit be produced into the eon. And immediately the fig-tree dried up. (Matthew 21:19 [ABP])

So what are the possible interpretations of the fig tree, maybe I'm to deep in the forest to see the forest from the trees, (pun intended)

I haven't studied it deeply to know for sure yet, so if I gave it a guess as to what it might be, it would be presumptuous. Right now I am studying some other topics.

Fair enough, just thought you might have something right off the top of your head. Considering the context of the passage it is hard for me to see the fig tree as anything else other than Israel. Some say it is just arbitrary agricultural analogy to observe and recognize the times and season leading up to the tribulation. I'd say that is rather nebulous and redundant. So much more information is being conveyed if indeed Israel is the fig tree.

I have my doubts about that. I feel like it is conveying the entirety and fullness of the saints, when they come into existence, and the tree is then full of fruit ready to be reaped at the end of the eon. It includes both Jews and gentiles. Just my best guess though until I study it.
