When I see something about "sacrifice", I think of being sacrificed to loving, forgiving >

"And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5;2)

sacrificed to submitting to God and how He rules us in His own peace >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

Be sacrificed to doing only what Jesus has us doing in His "rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-30)

There are sacrifices we make, in order to keep on in the rest Jesus gives us. We may sacrifice certain things which we discover do not give us real peace, though they might give us some pleasure. We may sacrifice doing a lot of workaholic self-wasting ministry or study or work or chores. We may make the "sacrifice" of stopping our talking, right away when we see we are starting to get into an argument, and even make the sacrifice of letting someone else have the last word . . . no matter how wrong that might be . . . so we don't get into fighting and struggling in our egos. But, of course, once we are returned to being prayerful, then is when we can say something to help someone who is wrong. But be sacrificed to not fighting and trying to control people. Sacrificed to being humble and gentle.

So, there are negative and nasty things we sacrifice, refusing to give in to them and refusing to go along with them, so we are in Christ's "rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-30)
