CNN denies "white"ing Harper-Mercer's photo ... but then airs reports of his mom as white

So they used b-roll of a white woman, but the original "photoshopped" image turns out to have not come from CNN after all. Got it.

Is there a video of the report? The video on the link appears to be not working.

The video in the OP link is not working, and shows no evidence that there was ever any picture of a white hand on a black lady. There are no other images found anywhere else. The white hand accusation is not true.

The accusation of the killer's face made white is also a fake. The original source (conservative treehouse) of the white face posted a disclaimer admitting that the picture was probably faked and did not come from CNN




NOTE: *Since the original discussion thread was posted on Friday October 2nd, the comparative image above has become the matter of some controversy. On Thr/Fri a twitter acct (we did not record who) posted a video vine on showing a CNN broadcast (TV) including that image. Additionally the same source posting a side-by-side as above. We captured the side-by-side image and shared it – as shown. We did not create the image, we copied it from a twitter feed. According to various comments posted: CNN denies attribution. Absent our ability to return to source origination for further inquiry, the comparative side-by-side image should be considered suspect, and quite possibly false

CNN denies doing this because the accusation were not true, and some of it was faked by conservative websites.

I've seen the video in question. The "white hand" accusation came about after the photoshop charge was made, but before is was debunked; and it stemmed from CNN using b-roll of a white woman typing on a computer while the reporter was talking about the killer's mother's penchant for posting stuff online. The woman's face wasn't shown, just her hands and the keyboard.

It's a tenuous argument, at best, and I doubt it would have been made at all if the (now-debunked) photoshop charge had not already been made.
