I must start by saying that I am an independent. I watched the debates, and I can't think of a single candidate on that roster that I would remotely consider. But more importantly, the top candidates (Trump, come on) look just incredibly bad to me. So my question for the Republicans out there, are you guys genuinely excited about any of the candidates? If so, which one?

P.S.: The Democratic field does not look terribly exciting to me either, another Clinton, come on.

I really like Carly Fiorina. She's articulate and confident. She knows her positions, explains them well, and, as the face of our country, she would do us well. Yes, Donald, THAT face! I especially like her foreign policy and that she would legitimately defeat ISIS, rekindle our relationship with Israel and Netanyahu, and that she would have no tolerance for Putin's nonsense.

I do not like Trump at all. He strikes me as an evil man, and he's never able to articulate his ideas. When he's asked questions, he simply responds that he's going to do a lot of stuff and things. He can't state his ideas because he doesn't have any.

Carson is a kind man, but being a kind man doesn't qualify you to be President of the United States. He seems clueless and lost a majority of the time and is a poor speaker.

I don't identify with either party, but I'm closest to being a Wall Street, socially liberal, country club Republican in the style of Nelson Rockefeller, Jacob Javitz, Jim Jeffords, and Olympia Snowe. Which is a critically endangered species. John Kasich would be my pick of the litter.

I really like Carly Fiorina.

I would really like her if it wasn't for the fact that she almost wrecked HP (fired 30 THOUSAND workers), and if you can't handle a company... And people love giving the justification that silicon valley was in a bad place at the time. Well, look at what happened to Apple during the same period of time.

I figured that this would be the response. Considering HP has come out and said that Carly was not at fault for the disaster, and listening to her debates and interviews and seeing how articulate and intelligent she is, I'm willing to believe her story and believe HP when they say that she was not at fault.

I love it when people jostle around deciding which politician who most closely mimics the personal traits that people want in a leader. I just wonder if they are so sure that those traits they want to see in a leader will ultimately make things better for everyone or just themselves?

They say that whoever wins there has to be a looser. I hope the person who wins is not themselves a looser and ends up making all of us losers for putting them in office.

You mean HP minus the 30,000 who were fired and minus the investors who saw their portfolio value decrease tremendously. Sure it wasn't her fault, she was only the chief executive officer. And quoting false videos is not a demonstration of intelligence.

For me it's between Carson and Cruz. What we DON'T need is another "establishment" candidate. I was living in FL when Jeb Bush was governor and he did a fairly good job, but I just don't see him as a good candidate for the presidency.

I honestly wish that Allen West was running. And as for the debates, I really don't put a lot of stock in them. Why? Because the moderators can't / won't make the candidates actually answer the question that's being asked. They say two words about it and then move on to their political stump on what they've prepared ahead of time.

I think if they're asked a question and they don't at least attempt to answer it directly then they get axed for the remainder of the debate. As they do the debates now it's just like an extension of the candidate's campaign advertisements. And the questions that need to be asked should come from sources other than the moderators, the so-called "journalists" and the organizations that host the debates. I understand that would be an ideal situation. But until something is changed about them I still won't read too much into them.

Carson. I especially love his calling for the IRS to pull the tax exempt status of that Muslim group. Has almost cinched it for me.
Hating on Muslims has been Carson's golden ticket. Every time he makes a prejudiced statement he bounces in the polls. It's proven to be even more effective than hating on Mexicans.

You like the fact that she wants to start World War 3?

I don't identify with either party, but I'm closest to being a Wall Street, socially liberal, country club Republican in the style of Nelson Rockefeller, Jacob Javitz, Jim Jeffords, and Olympia Snowe. Which is a critically endangered species.
I wish you guys would recover. What has replaced you is craziness.

John Kasich would be my pick of the litter.
Who?

I used to like Chris Christie. But didn't he hug Obama when he had the chance to punch him instead?

I think if they're asked a question and they don't at least attempt to answer it directly then they get axed for the remainder of the debate.
I love this idea. The audience could have 'that's-not-an-answer' buttons. Enough get pressed and they're out. Maybe a hole could open beneath their feet, and drop them into a shark infested pool.

I don't let a misstatement disqualify someone. If I did, I would not be able to support anyone. Anyone can misspeak. Especially in politics today where reporters are more interested in soundbites and "Gotcha" headlines.

What I look for in a potential candidate is a person's character. Carson is a man of great character, integrity, and honor. Those are the qualities we need in our next president.

John Kasich is Governor of Ohio. He's conservative, but not an ideologue. He's willing to compromise for the common good. He supported expanding Medicaid in his state because providing health insurance to people of lesser means is the right thing to do. He also doesn't trash talk immigrants and gays. There's more in the article. But he's also in the low single digits in the polls--even in his own state.

Over the years, I've seen and heard so many different things from politicians. Maybe I have become a bit cynical. Politicians, no matter who they are, do not "excite" me. It's been a long while since any excitement has been generated by a political candidate.

When I look at the field of GOP candidates, I see that the top three are political "outsiders". This, makes me feel positive. The message from the average American is that we are all tired of the same old retreads. These "outsiders" may not have all the answers, but they bring attention to issues we all seem to care about, instead of just giving them "lip service". This has happened before, in that the candidate selected by the people was not considered to be from the "mainstream". Because the "mainstream" did not truly represent the opinions of the voter. The average voter wanted a candidate that actually stood for something instead of checking which way the political winds were blowing. That they actually believe in the things they say. Hopefully, this is the case with this election cycle.

Personally, I don't know which candidate represents the "best" chance of doing the things I feel are necessary to bring this nation back from the 'brink'. I want to see a bit more from each of them.
