• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Just wanting to cry and be held...

I hate when I get like this.  Where I ache all over...inside and out b/c of emotional pain.  Why does it take God so long to heal the wounded heart?  I just want to curl up and be held in someone's arms...except I want that someone to be my ex.  Why won't this pain just go away?  I just want to cry for a long time...but that takes so much energy.  Can anyone help...please...anyone?

I am sorry that you are hurting.:hug: I too carried a lot of emotional pain. There were times when I was not sure that I was going to make it.

There is no greater comforter than our Lord Himself. Turn to Him in your time of need. I promise He will not let you down. I will pray for you.

God bless you.

Thank you all so much. I thank God that He let me find this place. Your words and encouragement help after a long hard day of fighting this battle I call my life. I know I will struggle for a while, but each day God will heal me a little more and I take heart in that. Thanks again!
In Him,
Angi

Don't try and rush God, He knows what He is doing. Our hearts can take a long time to heal. It may be weeks months or years before He is done working on this with you. Take heart and wait on God.

Read the verses in my sig too! The reward for enduring is great!

I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

HOW TO EXPERIENCE GOD'S COMFORT

"Happy are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matt 5:4

1. Realize that God is with me

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

Things I Need to Remember

* God is aware

"You (God) keep a close watch on all my paths." Job 13:27

* God cares

"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him . . . (Nahum 1:7)

* God wants to help you out

"Let us approach (God) with confidence, so we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16

2. Release the hurt

How?

I must stop focusing on what's lost and start focusing on what's left

"... Do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!" Isaiah 43:18

"Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God, for He has said He will repay those who deserve it." Rom 12:19 (LB)

Psalm 10 - Victim's Psalm

3. Rely on God's Resources

Three "Comforters":

* God's Word

"I am completely discouraged ... Revive me by your Word. ...Your Word has been my comfort." Ps. 119:25, 52 (LB)

* God's People

"... The God of all comfort comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2 Cor. 1:3-4

* God's Spirit

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy ... that by the power of the Holy Spirit, your whole life and outlook may be radiant with hope." Rom 15:13 (Ph)

Revelation 21:4
