I remember going out with a guy who gave up smoking. He had a terrible smoking habit, but he did not smoke at all on the date. Imwas surprised and he said proudly he had given it up.
I dont know if it was just for that date. Could have been.

The only concerning thing was...apart from smoking. He drank alcohol, like a fish. Asked how often he drank, and he said every night. Uh oh. Of course, he thought nothing of this. But i cant handle alcohol. Or alcoholics.

I just realised why people so passionate bout going to coffee places. Starbucks idolatry.

ROFL! Reading that about made me fall over.

Ive learned that starbucks logo is the godess astarte, and that the corporation supports gay marriage. Why a company would do that i have no idea.

The logo actually features a siren from Greek mythology. If you remember, the sirens would lure sailors to their deaths with their beautiful songs. The sirens were said to be the daughters of the Greek gods Achelous and Melpomene, so yes, it's an idolatrous symbol, something I was completely unaware of until you mentioned it.

I'm having a hard time getting my head around the notion that she's "the girl of my dreams". With the way she's been described and all the conditions that she apparently has when it comes to dates, she certainly wouldn't be.
No kidding. Multiple guys in this thread have already said that they wouldn't even go out with her based on the numerous stipulations, so why would they answer any further? It's silly to try to force every guy to morph into Mr. Right for a particular high-maintenance hypothetical girl.
Well, its very rude of you so I will ignore you.
I haven't seen anyone return your rudeness in this thread.

Just not on a date with hypothetical single dream girl.
Has any guy in this thread said that this character is his dream girl? You've said so much about her that you've isolated the vast majority of the guys in this thread. You can't add so many requirements and say that she's every guy's dream girl.
Gosh, imagine, guys asking a girl out to high tea.
You think tea is a good idea for a heterosexual date? I thought you said that even coffee shops aren't masculine enough?

Ok this is for guys only.
You are taking out a girl you met at a dance for your first date together. What have you got planned?

Ps. Do not say you just gonna skype her or txt her. That is not a date. A date means going out somewhere together.
Well, I was never married and still smiling. ^_^:)

But I remember a girl I was dating when I was young.
We went to the movies and my goal during the movie was to touch her hand. :liturgy:
I think I touched her pinkie with my pinkie.

I have no idea what the move was about. :help:

And im really amazed at how addicted ppl are to coffee on this forum.
At this point, I have to assume that you've ignored so many people who refused to play along that you haven't seen any of the countless explanations and corrections on this topic.
I thought in america it would be...the guy would take a girl out and get fast food at the drive thru and also watch a movie in the drive in.
The drive thru food would be in-and-out burger.
A coffee shop is much classier than fast food. I'd find it strange if he planned to take me to Denny's or In-And-Out Burger for a first date.

Spur-of-the-moment, it would be fine, if that's just what happens to be nearby.

The imaginary girl is part of an anti-coffee cult. She's a rebel for dancing, showy clothing, and likes hot tubbing. She chooses the man with the most money to spend on her, but she offers nothing in return. She's always ready to be done with a man if he should ever step out of line from her picky desires.

Well. The only thing she doesnt like is coffee and alcohol, and no she isnt a mormon, and shes easy going on pretty much everything else. We all have different tastes. You might come across a girl one day who, shock horror, doesnt drink alcohol!

Or she might even be vegetarian or on a special diet cos of lactose intolerance. Or diabetic even. You dont know do you?

Is this thread about what we'd do for/on a date in general or what we'd do for/on a date with a woman that doesn't like coffee or alcohol?

It's getting far too specific for it to be generalised question now.

It does seem that everything that this "dream girl" likes/doesn't like is something that Goodbook likes/doesn't like. So in other words, the OP was really asking where we would take her on a date. And based what I've read in this thread, my answer would be "I wouldn't".

You think tea is a good idea for a heterosexual date? I thought you said that even coffee shops aren't masculine enough?

She said high tea, which is also known as afternoon tea (the two often get used interchangeably). That actually wouldn't be a bad date idea, although perhaps a little too elaborate for a first date.

I must have been on so many 'coffee dates' withiut realisig they were actually dates. A date is more than just a meeting in my book.
In my country if a guy asks a girl out on a date, its to somehwere special.
If he just wants to meet up they may go to a cafe but that is NOT considered a date.
You keep saying that this is a cultural thing, but then you say that you've been asked out on many coffee dates, so maybe it's more of a you thing? Perhaps you've just been misunderstanding the intentions of people who ask you out on coffee dates. A Google search seems to show that many of your fellow countrymen use the phrase "coffee dates," and someone else posted statistics which say the same thing.

No. Perhaps it's the numerous reasons that people have already told you!
They even sell teddybears cookies wearing starbucks aprons. I mean what is with all the branding????
A little thing called capitalism.

From earlier: The imaginary girl is part of an anti-coffee cult. She's a rebel for dancing, showy clothing, and likes hot tubbing. She chooses the man with the most money to spend on her, but she offers nothing in return. She's always ready to be done with a man if he should ever step out of line from her picky desires.

Addition: The imaginary girl is not into talking. She's eager to judge. She likes going for a walk. She's big on symbols of religion.

When you add all that together, I'm starting to think I'm dealing with the kind of girl mom warned me about.

I have a feeling that swapping out tea for coffee (and there are coffee shops other than Starbucks around here that the ladies like) would be another swing and a miss if I were to enumerate that as a possibility.
