Does anyone have the gift of prophecy?

Hi Flute28, as the forum rules do not permit private prophecies this means that you will have to find a congregation in your area who can encourage you in the areas of prophecy and healings.

Flute 28, I think it's possible for someone to send you a prophetic word privately though usually prophetic words are given openly. Welcome to the forums.

What an ego. I know of one, but, I would not put it on this site.

Well, don't be too hard on this new girl ... sure their are rules due to all of the past mistakes of people misusing the gift of prophecy and telling someone to do something that was completely out of Gods will.

Remember in the New Testament where Jesus told the woman at the well all about herself?
Remember her response: "I perceive sir that you are a prophet"

The gift of prophecy is one of the nine gifts as the gift of discernment and healing and tongues and interpation of tongues and works and even faith is a gift. How many is that? Seven, uh?

I have four of them at least. Joseph Prince said that he wished he didn't have the gift of interpreting tongues, because he spent most of his time figuring out what his tongues were saying.

I would have to check the bible for the other two.

The Spirit of a prophet is subject to a prophet so when you do find one make sure that you are in agreement with that person.

Find a good church, but we would need a sticky on that, uh?

You say you think you have the gift of healing ... Do you slay people in the Spirit? Watch out for people that walk around and say, "I have a word for you" I know a lady that repented of that and asked everyone to forgive her when she found out that she had false tongues too.

Good luck come back often and try that healing out on me ... I am vexed by tormenting spirits day and night, but I always have the Lord in my heart and even angels ministering to me (as they do to all of the heirs of salvation)

Do you hear oral voices?

I've learned to say things as an exhortation instead of prophetic as it can cause problems.
The important thing to remember is that as Nathan prophesied under the Kings orders, a prophet is under authority.
The Bible states twice in the OT that a prophet sees visions and dreams dreams.
The prophetic gift makes you remember the past, understand the present, and anticipate the future.
A prophet can either be prompted or reprimanded by the Holy Ghost.
Exhortation, inspiration or rebuke is a matter of context.

"Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." I Thes 5:20-21.

After a prophetic word is given, we prove all things by - Foremost we have Holy Scripture and The Holy Spirit, prayer, hearing God's voice, spiritual discernment, and confirmation (Acts 9;9-19 especially v 10-12; II Cor 13:1)

If you hear an oral voice, it is a demon.

According to KJV, "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." Gen 1:3

and Yahweh's been speaking ever since then (my opinion - yup, everybody's got one).

What you are looking at is not the gift of prophecy. You are looking for someone with the spiritual gift "word of knowledge" or "word of wisdom."
Word of Knowledge is the gift that enables one to know things that are, and that could be known by natural means. Common knowledge.
Word of Wisdom is the gift that enables one to know the mind of God and things that could not be known by natural means, this includes the future.
Prophecy is one of the means by which these gifts may be delivered. Dreams and visions are other means.

I think God speaking to Samuel when he was young will prove that wrong.
I think God has to use what in us hasn't been defiled and isn't under repair.
and why the enemy wants to defile all children by a certain age.
so there is nothing else in them they "hear" "see" or
"feel" him within their being that isn't broken and in need of repair..
. then when he draws near to them they can only freak out in fear and lash out .. or jump .
though I never hear a voice I also live in a world full of auditory defilement.
but because I am nearly blind I "see " him around me more then hear him .
but he makes me do the puzzles and put the pieces together.. but that is my fun.
that isn't my office or where my authority is.
when I was young I did puzzles for fun.
that stuff is just how I like to learn.
unknown truth challenges me to find him in it.
having some dreams I don't think makes me a prophet.
anymore than Saul was among the real prophets.

The Spiritual gifts manifest according to God's will, not our will. We cannot flick the Spiritual gifts off and on like a lightswitch:

1Cor 12:11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as He wills.

The only exception is the gift of tongues for self-edification.

For this reason, Paul exhorts us to "eagerly seek" to be used in this way by God:

1Cor 14:1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

This is important to understand because if we begin to attempt to do these things by our own will, we will open ourselves up to influence by familiar spirits which are of the enemy and will cause trouble.

If we "desire" to be used by the Lord in the Spiritual gifts, He will know exactly when and exactly what should manifest. His timing is always perfect.

There is a lot of foul spiritual influence in the charismatic churches because of the failure to recognize the soveriegnty of Jesus in these matters. People who are zealous to do exploits for God, and are not patient enough to simply wait on the Lord to do what He wishes to do when He wishes to do it, open up congregations to the enemy's influence.

Supernatural stuff will take place, but it won't necessarily be by the Holy Spirit. Satan and his rebellious angels will cause trouble when believers give him the authority to do so by willfully forcing something supernatural to take place.

My suggestion is to go after God, press in deeper if you feel you need a word of encouragement. Ask Him for encouragement. Be patient, fellowship with other authentic believers, and God will make it happen without you asking others to do so.

I agree with this to the extant that the HS is in control...
However I do believe there is a difference between the Holy Spirit enabled "diversities of tongues" and "praying in tongues" spoken of in Mark 16 and 1 Corin 14.

I would be wary of prophecy that was not public and not from a prophet who is under authority of ekklesia. But I will pray for you and beseech the Lord that His will be revealed in your life, and that it come with confirmation, or else be dismissed.

I thought I had the gift of prophecy, but now I think it's just the gift of a Word of knowledge the Word of Wisdom. I can discern, but I can't tell everything about a person (at least not to their face).

Then I found this:
Luke 7:36-50 (NIV)
NOW ONE OF THE PHARISEES INVITED JESUS TO HAVE DINNER WITH HIM, SO HE WENT TO THE PHARISEE’S HOUSE AND RECLINED AT THE TABLE.

i was going to word it as ... the op is seeking godly counsel ,,not prophesy

Prophets only deal with what they are told.
Elijah, when he realized he had been under surveillance for three years, was threatened by Jezebel,...and heard not from the Lord, fled toward the desert.
Elisha, when the woman held fast to his feet weeping, said that the Lord had not revealed why.
