The point of having different divisions for men and women in sports is because of the immense physical differences between the average man and woman, not because of any choice of identification. Since no sex reassignment surgery changes the relevant physical differences, having such an operation should not allow an athlete to switch divisions.

Of course, considering that there are some people calling for Bruce Jenner's records to be recognized as world records for women, it's not clear that surgery of any sort will be required at all to switch division, but only a sincere belief that one is a different sex than would be biologically apparent. At that point why even bother having divisions at all?

The Fallon Fox case is shameful. This is nothing more than a man becoming famous for beating up women, and demonstrating why we have different MMA divisions for men and women in the first place.

I'm aware. Just thought it'd be fun to post that. :)

I guess you haven't read that other thread about people expressing outrage at the 15 year olds undergoing this treatment. Look, how are transgender people supposed to be able to fight in the UFC if they aren't allowed to undergo treatments as teenagers? ;) Pick a side, will ya? ;)

I'm just joking around. Don't take me too seriously.

Small surgery coming this afternoon (Not to turn me into a woman, to remove a tooth and graft in some bone from a cadaver- from a dead adult, not stem cells! ;) ). I'm a little nervous and blowing off some steam.

I hope you are joking :o

Puberty starts around age 11 - and most see the 'outcome' of the body changing as a teenager.
How many 10 year olds should be treated with drugs?

Hey all. I have been absent for a while but thought I would stop in and see what was going on. But back to the thread...

As many know, I am transgender, but I get in trouble with my transgender brothers and sisters when it comes to Falon Fox. I believe that she should be able to fight whoever wants to fight her but she should not be allowed to fight for the women's title.

For the record, puberty blockers were developed for precocious puberty and are safe. They don't cause any changes in the person's body, they merely block gonadal puberty in a kid. If removed, the child will resume puberty as normal.

There is nothing "twisted" about it.

Also, for the record, there are many kids who realize that they are trans before puberty and some even express such and start counseling well before the onset of puberty.

However, surgery before adulthood is very rare and I am unaware of any surgeon in the US who would do it.
