Found this by accident. Evidently, John Schiltt and Jay Sekulow have a band and have several great videos on Youtube.

This one features Jay, John, John Elefante, and Joe Vitale, who, in case you don't know is the drummer for both Joe Walsh and the Eagles, going back to the early seventies.

John Schlitt, before taking over Greg Volz' role in Petra, was the lead singer of Head East. Head East only had one hit, but was still a darned good band. John Elefante was the lead singer and Rhythm guitarist of Kansas. Jay Sekulow isn't known primarily as a musician at all (or, at least, he wasn't until now). He's one of the biggest civil rights attorneys in the country. If your church meets in a public school, you can thank him for it. He argued the ground breaking "Lamb's Chapel" case.

But, enough about that. Enjoy.

I'm starting a job for the NY Civil Service, which will mean a lot of driving around. I am hoping to pick up some Khmer in my travels and I am wondering if there is a good youtube-to-mp3 converter that won't give my PC a virus. I am legitimately not looking to steal any music I have not paid for, I want to listen to lessons people have put up. Any help?

For those wondering this is the Maori version of Psalm 130
(De Profundis - Out of the Depths)

To the beloved…hope you enjoy

As soon as the cantor began the two note opening call (Nō te hōhonutanga o ōku hara i karanga ai ahau ki a Koe e te – out of the depths I have cried to thee), my soul would soar in anticipation of the three note response (A-ri-kiO Lord.)

E te Ariki kia rongo koe ki tōku reo – Lord hear my voice.

Kia whakarongo ōu taringa – let thine ears be attentive

ki te reo o tāku inoinga – to the voice of my supplication

ki te mea e titiro koe ki ngā hara e te Arikiif thou O Lord shalt observe iniquities

e te Ariki ko wai e tū ki tōu aroaro? – Lord who shall endure it?

Nā te mea he atawhai kei a koe – For with thee

nā te mea hoki hei aroha kei āu ture, koia ahau i whakawhirinaki ai a koe e te Ariki – there is merciful forgiveness, and by reason of thy Law I have waited for Thee O Lord

My soul has relied on His word, my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.

Because with the Lord there is mercy; and with Him plentiful redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

I've been looking around the thrift stores for old Frank Sinatra LPs because buying new pressings is just too costly. To my surprise I found a pre-release deal for a double album celebrating Sinatra's 100th birthday. It should arrive in time for Father's Day! Pumped.

Side A
  1. "All Or Nothing At All"
  2. "I’ll Never Smile Again"
  3. "Saturday Night (Is The Loneliest Night Of The Week)"
  4. "Nancy (With The Laughing Face)"
  5. "I’ve Got The World On A String"
  6. "Young At Heart"
  7. "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning"
Side B
  1. "Learnin’ The Blues"
  2. "Love And Marriage"
  3. "I’ve Got You Under My Skin"
  4. "Witchcraft"
  5. "All The Way"
Side C
  1. "Come Fly With Me"
  2. "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)"
  3. "The Way You Look Tonight"
  4. "My Kind Of Town"
  5. "Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)"
  6. "It Was A Very Good Year"
Side D
  1. "Strangers In The Night"
  2. "Summer Wind"
  3. "That’s Life"
  4. "My Way"
  5. "Theme From New York, New York"
  6. "Put Your Dreams Away (For Another Day)"

What's with you and ol' blue eyes lately? :D

I listen to Bing and Dean Martin as well. When the kids were little we would drive around town listening to Frank Sinatra in the mini-van belting out the lyrics. We love the crooners. Not to mention the whole Bruce Jenner thing makes me long for simple times…not that they really exist except in our ideals, but still.

I just finished Unbroken and will look that one up.

Currently listening to Legal Injection by Nisbet and The Hunter by Stark. I listen every night before bed and my wife is now hooked on them. I set the timer and it shuts off in 30min.

Gord, how do you listen? App? CD?

A documentary about one of my favorite bands.

As an aside, when we lived up North, I lived next door to Levon Helm's sister for a while
She was going to take me to one of his legendary "Midnight Rambles" but something came up every time and, when I was finally able to go, he died.

I also learned from her that his name was actually Lavon (pronounced La-von) but that, for reasons nobody knew, Ronnie Hawkins started calling him Lee-von and it stuck.

People forget what a great and influential drummer he was and how charismatic he was. Let's face it, The Last Waltz is his tour de force. But what a lot of people don't realize is what a great mandolin player he was.

Anyway, if you have the time, check it out. It's really interesting.

Lebanese Blonde
Too low to find my way
Too high to wonder why
I've touched this place before
Somewhere in another time
Now I can hear the sun
The clouds drifting through the blinds
A half a million thoughts

Are flowing through my mind
A satellite recalled your voice
Sent me round the world again
All the night you dreamt away
Sent me round my heart again
One touch upon my lips
And all my thoughts are clear
I feel your smoky mist
Up to the stratosphere
Too low to find my way
Too high to wonder why
I've touched this place before
Somewhere in another time
Now I can hear the sun
The clouds drifting through the blinds
A half a million thoughts
Are flowing through my mind

Too low to find my way
Too high to wonder why
I've touched this place before

A half a million thoughts
Are flowing through my mind

Order the Ultimate Sinatra June 2nd and it arrived earlier this week. I could have gotten it a lot quicker if I ordered through the States but wanted to purchase the vinyl from a Canadian source so the sale would be recorded on Canadian music sale charts. Just sitting down to listen to the first album today.
