Hello all

It is a long time since I posted on here. I went through an experience yesterday that has left me feeling violated. I have tried to talk to friends and family and their response has been very much to tell me what I should have done differently to have stopped the other person treating me badly, and it has left me feeling even more crushed in spirit. I have been trying to pray when I can today, and I think God has told me to turn to the Bible for comfort. I was wondering if I could ask some of you folks just to post some scriptures on this thread to help me out and get me started. I am hurting very deeply and feel wounded, so I really would appreciate it if you didn't offer advice. Thank you so much in anticipation of your responses.

God’s Everlasting Love

Romans 8:31-39
"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 6:8-10
"Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;
For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
The LORD has heard my supplication;
The LORD will receive my prayer.
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly."

Micah 7:18-19
"Who is a God like You,
Pardoning iniquity
And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in mercy.
He will again have compassion on us,
And will subdue our iniquities.
You will cast all our sins
Into the depths of the sea."

Thank you again everyone. I have been managing, on and off, this week, and trying to hold on to God's word with varying degrees of success. I would like to be more firmly planted in the word and more resilient to attack! Thank you so much for all your support.

Dear Maharg. I do not know what really happened to upset you, but I do know that Love covers a multitude of sins.
Jesus gives us good advice in Matthew 22: 35-40: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." In verse 40 we are told:
" on these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." A Christians weapon is love, with love we will overcome all enmity and wrong behaviour. The Holy Spirit will help and guide you, and Jesus our Saviour will lead you all the way: JESUS IS THE WAY.
In Matthew 7: 7-10: we are told: " ask and you shall receive," we ask God for Love and Joy, then thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour: all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends. We keep asking and receiving, then thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour. God will see our loving efforts, and God will approve and bless us. The Bible tells us: " Repent and be Born Again," we start giving up all selfish wishes and wants, and start loving and caring in stead. We will find that people will treat us the same as we treat people, life will become enjoyable. We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on loving and caring, and enjoying life, it often takes only a friendly smile. Love God and love your neighbour, and be well on the way to follow Jesus and enjoy His fellowship. I say this with love, Maharg. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Thank you to the original poster and the repliers. I was feeling very discouraged this morning over life in general, from problems that never seem to end. I entered "encouragement" into this site's search and found this thread. It is amazing how reading bible verses can help life one's spirits. I don't feel joyful but I do feel a change in me for the better at the moment. I suffer from physical ailments that limits my ability to handle stress so to be lifted at all means God has intervened for me. Thanks Maharg for posting and it also shows me that bad things can turn into good. By asking for help you have helped me. God does work things for the good. I need to trust in that.

If you had not revived this thread I would not have come across it, so thank you, it has been a blessing to me too.

The eternal God is thy refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms:
[Deut 33:27]

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me:
for my soul trusteth in thee:
yea, in the shadow of thy wings
will I make my refuge
until these calamities be overpast.
[Psalm 57:1]

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. Isaiah 30:18

But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. Hebrews 10:39

Great verses, simple truths but reminders are sometimes needed. God leads us where we need to go, all we need to do is listen.
ken777 I feel privileged that God used me to lead you here, in fact it amazes me, God amazes me. Not sure why I should be amazed, because he is God. But I like being amazed and never want to take Him for granted. God bless.

Thank you for those who revived this thread. I don't come on to the Forum very much these days but felt I really wanted to just now. I am trying to find a way of being at peace with people who have been unkind to me, and who perhaps would not understand if I spoke to them to tell them how I feel, or who would crush me yet further. I want to be better at not being intimidated and be more like Jesus. To be stable, and strong and loving and kind. I have tried to go back and confront people face to face recently and have come away feeling more bruised - I don't know whether it is ever right just to leave things without going back and dealing with them. Whether it is wrong not to at least try, even if I get damaged in the process. Trying to make sense of it. Things keep on going round and round in my head - lots of unresolved issues - and I feel overwhelmed a lot of the time, like I am going in to new situations with all the old stuff around my neck. I am not meaning to complain - I just don't know what to do.

I came here looking for Jesus really, and I can definitely see signs of him here. He doesn't seem to be around much at church lately and it is making me so sad and confused. Everyone else seems to be so happy there, and I feel so alone and so sad. I don't feel as if I fit in anywhere. I know I am not really alone and that Jesus promised he would never leave me, but I don't know what to do when it hurts so much to go to church.

I thought I would quote a few scriptures that stood out to me today particularly, just in case they bless someone else. Thank you for taking the time to post these and to all who posted. My last post vanished somehow, but I wanted to say thank you, and to say I know that at some point in the last week I got to a place where I recognised what it was to be dwelling in God in the midst of the storms. He even went to the trouble of tucking a feather in to my Bible case to remind me of his presence. I do love him, and I know he loves me. I so want to honour him in how I live. I have just been reading John 21 about the marvellous catch of fish. The disciples recognised Jesus because of what he did. He always supplies above and beyond what we could ever need and is never far away.
