I have not yet found a church yet, so have not even questioned it, but to take my faith in Jesus a step further for deciding to want to be baptized.

I don't have any friends near where I live now, they live 360 miles away, most are incapable of transport too.
My family are renowned athesits, and stuck in there ways and beleifs, there is a great deal of tension between my family life at the moment, partially a reason I have turned to God, I am a huge social phobe, my mum has breathing difficulties, and our local church itself has closed, but there is an area near the salvation army where we can still go to worship, I am a very lonely person, and have no one to talk too, if I say I am going to be baptized, it will just start off some kind of friction and argument in this household, one reason I want to move out too.

My question is, can I be baptized privately? I have no one who would come to bare whitness to the baptism itself near me.

Just talk to a pastor - they will baptize you. I heard a teacher explain something that I had never heard before and it really set in my heart as being right.

Before Jesus was taken up to Heaven the people had to be water baptized - after he ascended into Heaven people were baptized in the Holy Spirit. Whether it is right or wrong, being filled with the Holy Spirit is a special relationship with Jesus. Just say a prayer and believe and ask Jesus to fill you with His Holy Spirit. He will guide you into what you should do. Just remember your relationship with Jesus is so special. He will never leave you and is closer than your shadow and only a heartbeat away.

Jesus is your friend, you can talk to Him all the time. You don't have to be on bended knee with Bible in hand, he knows your every thought.

My prayers are with you that you might be the light that will shine on your family and bring them to Jesus. This is a good forum to be on - you can ask anything and someone will be there for you - never feel alone.

Hi Friend.

God can be your witness it really does not get any better than that. You can be baptized in a bath tub like me and my wife was. First i must warn you you might meet people who claim to be Christians and are not and who mean well but give bad advice, or misunderstand God. do not be discourage. You should know what baptism is. It is being bury with Christ in the grave going under the water and being resurrected with Christ coming out of the water. We believe you must go fully under the water for this reason, the whole body. Other denominations do not believe this, but true to the way they did it in Biblical days is going under the water fully. It is ok to sprinkle water on a person death bed or other case where they are unable.

If your looking for a friend i would be happy to be yours, message me any time on here. If you want to learn about God i am in school working on my ministry degree would be happy to share all info i have learned with you. Study Gods word hard, pray and praise God every chance you get. Peace be with you

Thank-you so much Bluelion, I can feel the great love and support of this community with every post, I welcome your friendship, thank-you for your support, I have many questions, I am at the stage of my life where I just want to focus on doing good, I have many questions of God, and understanding him, I relise that with my limited human mind, I will never truly understand him, but I do seek to grow closer to him, and develop my relationship with him.

Thank-you for your kind words and support, and yes, that is what I think counts too, it is between me and God, he can see my heart, and that is what matters IMO, I am so pleased to have found this great community.
Thankyou.

Read Acts 8:30-38, and maybe a few verses before and after. One man baptized another there, there were no witnesses recorded though some were probably present. (of course, read it in the King James Bible, modern versions likely omit the key verse about Baptism in Act's 8:38. After you are baptized, you need to reach out to others and witness to them, try to get them saved, don't let your family pull you down, and prayerfully consider starting a new King James Only Baptist Church in your area. I know some missionaries who plant churches in the USA in areas where there are no good churches. I can refer you to them for help if you like.

Nowhere in the scriptures do we find where Jesus baptized with water.
now where do you find Jesus baptized anyone but His disciplines did. Do they not count?

this is wrong. Not everyone is called to ministry You must first spend years in study of God's word. Your setting him up to fail. Jesus spent 30 years preparing for a 3 year ministry.

Hi many thanks for your reply, unfortunately I am in the UK, and I recently learned our local Church shut it's doors down back in 2008, I am in Crewe, (relying on public transport) if that is any help, I am searching though. :)

Smart. Don't take my word for it takes God's. Mathew 13 New Living Translation.

“Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. 4 As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them.5 Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. 6 But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. 7 Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. 8 Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! 9 Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”

10 His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you use parables when you talk to the people?”

11 He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. 12 To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. 13 That is why I use these parables,

For they look, but they don’t really see.
They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand.

14 This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says,

‘When you hear what I say,
you will not understand.
When you see what I do,
you will not comprehend.
15 For the hearts of these people are hardened,
and their ears cannot hear,
and they have closed their eyes—
so their eyes cannot see,
and their ears cannot hear,
and their hearts cannot understand,
and they cannot turn to me
and let me heal them.’

16 “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 17 I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.

18 “Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds: 19 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. 20 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 21 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. 23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

Take heed to this Words. Don't run out and preach the word at the start or you will be like those with out deep roots. You must study God's word every day, study hard. I find The New Living Translation the easiest to understand I would get that Bible. The way you root the Word of God, is by studying His Word, Praying and Praising Him.

Before He returned to heaven, Jesus said to His disciples, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew chapter 28, verses 19 and 20.

Baptism is a public declaration of our faith in Jesus, by means of it, we demonstrate to the world our identification with the crucified and risen Christ. For the Christians in those early days, that was a courageous step to take and they faced much persecution because of that.

I pray that God will lead you to a church where you can fellowship together with other believers of like mind to yourself and where you can learn more about believers' baptism and will be able to take that step yourself. I pray also for the salvation of your family.

God bless,

Gillian

24And He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it shall be measured to you, and more shall be added to you who hear.

25“For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given; but whoever does not possess, even what he possesses shall be taken away from him.”

No, that is not right.

Baptists see water baptism as the outward sign of an inward change. It is done in obedience and does not save us. And it can be done at a later time.

22After this, יהושע and His taught ones came into the land of Yehuḏah, and He remained there with them, and was immersing.

23And Yoḥanan was also immersing in Ayin near Salim, because there was plenty of water there. And they were coming and were being immersed,

24for Yoḥanan had not yet been put into prison.

25Then a dispute arose between some of Yoḥanan’s taught ones and the Yehuḏim about cleansing,

26and they came to Yoḥanan and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Yardĕn, to whom you have witnessed, see, He is immersing, and all are coming to Him!”

27Yoḥanan answered and said, “No man is able to receive any matter unless it is given to him from the heaven.
