The League of Aldonadi: Timeless Wisdom

I never call for a character's background. Mine never have them unless it is requested. I only ask that you have one in mind.

Anyway, that aside, I know hypnosis, and even in a magical setting it has its limits. The subject can never be made to do something; the subject must choose to do so. A good person could not be told to rob a bank; however, if they believe they are on, say, a game show, and all they have to do is open a vault to win the prize, then they will. It is all in the wording. But, even in a magical setting, don't think you can overdo the mind control thing.
As far as my magical scheme, it would qualify as a cross between casimir and opiate magics. You can look those up in my tome if you want (Link in post 101). It's not that big a deal, but I always want to avoid OMUS(Omnipotent Magic User Syndrome) when possible.

Me too, that's why I usually make extra effort to impose limits on my magic-users. I get it... you can't take away a person's will, but you can cause them to believe things that aren't true. like, set up a mental construct that led to paaranoid thoughts. Like tthat?

Pretty much. Hypnosis is mostly about coercion: getting the subject to want to do what you're suggesting. If the desire is there, then there is little problem creating the results. If there is a conflict of wills, as with an addiction or the like, the subject has to be coerced, or tricked, if you will, into thinking the behavior is something they want to do. That help?

I'm still here. I've been vomiting. Painfully so. Vomit and keyboards don't play well together. I'm mostly better, but my diaphragm is viciously sore. I never quite realized how much the diaphragm did in vomiting.
Anyway, I'll see if I can get things hopping.

where's the diaphragm? Usually after I've been vomiting it's my latissimus dorsi that pain me so. Of course, my insides in general feel like a fulfillment of the quote nemo nisi intus superatus.

And... hope your health trend goes up already, dude.

The diaphragm is a small, thin muscle under the lungs. It's mainly responsible for breathing, pulling air into the lungs and then pushing it out again. When you vomit, the diaphragm (I think; I'm only guessing since I haven't really studied it out) also pushes to empty the stomach. That's why you, uh, for lack of a better way to put it, go "Hhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuu" (retch, perhaps?)when you vomit; the diaphragm is also thrusting the air out of the lungs. It's also generally why you're out of breath after you vomit, too. The pain doesn't help any, though. ^_^

Oh no Shadow... :( I'm so sorry to hear you are still ill! :prayer: If you have any peppermint try that. Peppermint tea or candy either one... the peppermint will calm an upset stomach.

I agree with MD, I pray the Lord will touch your body and restore your health.

I feel better after I vomit. My sicknesses are a kind of Pavlovian cycle where I'm punished for not vomiting and rewarded for vomiting (with relief and peaceful sleep). I've never had a diaphragm ache. Should I try it sometime? :)

I believe my case was a bout of food poisoning. It was a trade off from either vomiting or else intense abdominal pressure and nausea. Neither was terribly pleasant.
Either way, I appreciate the sentiments, but no need to feel bad for me. I will covet your prayers, though.
