Just had a thought :(

Wasn't there an announcement about a drastic change happening this week ?

Might be as well to leave final decisions till after that has happened - in case we have to do a rethink about colour

Here's a Maronite Cross

and the Patriarchal Cross

for comparison.

To be honest MC - the gold doesn't stand out well enough :(

As shown, I'd say that seems to be almost a grey cross rather than gold.

If you enter "yellow" instead of "gold," you might succeed, especially if it's outlined with a thin black border like the generic "Protestant" icon currently in use.

Yes, it is not very good. We seem to have 25 x 25 pixels to play with and that is not very much. The simple red cross

looks good mainly because it is simple and isn't trying to be more than it can be within the limits of size and colour selection.

I believe the Maronite cross has three bars across the top resembling to me a pine tree.

Yes, and also the sort that I showed - it looks a little like a Maltese Cross. I guess there's a fair amount of variety in the naming of these crosses.

I still feel the simplest [ often the plainest ] will be most easily recognised and remembered .

Keeping red will easily identify it as folk are used to the red Jerusalem Cross.

A thought - is anyone else using a red Faith Symbol ?

Thanks :) your post is appreciated.

I thought about the keys of saint Peter but decided that they are very specific to the papacy, perhaps that would be okay, but in faith icon size the keys would be very hard to make out. It looks like this

Not all that Papal either, my Lutheran Church, St. Peter's, has two crossed keys at the very top of the reredos, just under the cross; also has they in an Icon of St. Peter.:)

I'm for status quo. Though the results of the crusades resulted in a lot of hardship even if it was supposed to be for a noble cause, I feel that the Jerusalem cross represents a rich history for all Catholics, whether they be good or bad. As such I feel that changing for the sake of connotation will be forgetting the the ill deeds rather than rectifying them. We Catholics carry the cross in remembrance of Christ who died for our sins regardless of time, thus the symbol of the crusades reminds us of our goals and transgressions.

To make the poll good and useful we ought to encourage as many people as we know in OBOB to participate in this thread and look at what we've discussed so far as well as offer their insights and suggestions because no poll will represent what Catholics think if it isn't introduced properly and the voters helped to see what issues are being discussed and decided.

So get your friends to participate, please :)

Several. The Old Catholic symbol comes to mind.
