If you watch only Fox news, they would have you believe that the Jews in Israel are humble, peaceful and only use force in self defense.

There is a ton of evidence that there is a huge amount of violence towards Palestinians and Muslims in general by the Israeli army.

We as Christians believe that we should support (or bless) Israel, but at the same time, we are compelled to live like Jesus and love all people...even our enemies.

So tell me: how do we support Israel and oppose the violence that is happening? Obviously, we are to pray for peace in Jerusalem, but I am looking at the bigger picture here.

You should find this article interesting, Shempster:

The oppression is still going on. Outside of the nightly US networks, there are plenty of hidden camera films out there. You just have to look them up and watch them.

And there are tens of thousands of "arab" (palestinian) children being taught that "jews are swine who dont deserve to live", in their SCHOOLS.
Plenty of videos out there if you care to wake up.
Also, videos of Arab (Palastinians) literally showing children how to fire hand held rocket launchers.
Just go look.
And when i get to 50 posts, i'll post a photo of Palestinian children being hung up on fences by their ARAB parents outside their home by their shirt collars, as they are being used as living shields.
Did you want to talk about all that, or do you just want to be a MSNBC Left Wing media sheep and spit on Israel a bit more?

Listen,
America has one real friend on this planet.
Thats Israel.
Other countries, England, Germany, others, they are solid allies, but they dont love America like the Israeli's do.
Dont forget that.

Just answer two questions. If the Israelis disbanded their army and committed themselves to non-violence, what would happen?

If the Arabs laid down their weapons and disbanded their terrorist cells and committed themselves to non-violence, What would happen?

Be honest.

The Israelis are not the ones who are initiating force. They have ever been the defenders and they have a right to respond with overwhelming force if attacked. Innocent people will die but the responsibility for that rests squarely on the shoulders of the ones initiating the force, the Palestinians.

They should go all out and end this war. The only way to win a war is to crush the enemy so hard that they loose all interest in fighting ever again. Just like we did with the Germans and the Italians and the Japanese. Israel is a lone island of civilization, even if they are socialists, surrounded by a bunch of barbarians who would still be living in the stone ages if it were not for the west and our advancements which they use and at the same time curse us. The Palestinians deserve whatever the Israelis can dish out and I hope they do.

We finally agree on something.

What does Israel do for us?.....Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Would a parasite say anything negative about a host which they just take from without contributing anything? No, and that is Israel.

Our real allies are countries like Britain who do not need us for their survival but they will stand with us anyways.

What if the majority of people there were not the descendants of Jacob, they were simply the descendants of people who converted to Talmudic Judaism hundreds of years after Christ? Are people who have no connection to Abraham and who follow a Christ denying religion really the people of God? Even if they were descendants of Abraham, the Bible says this is irrelevant.

And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. (Matthew 3:9)

The fact is the Jewish people once again have their historic Homeland to live in, and never in the history of the world has a land been resurrected like Israel has...just as was told by the prophets.

The quote from Matthew is not nullifying physical Israel, it is putting before them what it means to know the one true G-d, and not to trust in the flesh.

^ Zeek: None of that explains how that the "State of Israel" equals the "Kingdom of Israel" of Biblical history.

I thought I had clarified it....the Jewish people have always been called the nation of Israel by G-d...even when they are scattered over the face of the earth. The fact that now historic Israel is a reality means that Israel is returning to their land of Covenant as foretold by the prophets.

Is the State of Israel today the same as the Kingdom of Israel from the Bible?

No, for the reasons discussed on other threads.

Please read the Bible's teaching on this matter: only the Messiah can re-establish the Kingdom. He will do so in Peace without shedding blood. Zionists have created this false state and killed many in the effort to do so. Therefore, it is NOT the true Israel.

Still doesn't explain how the modern corporate government entity called the "State of Israel" equals the historic "Kingdom of Israel"

I suppose we might support her in all actions that are, actually, a matter of national defense, and not support her when and if she's merely bullying some of her residents. Why so many people seem to think that this is simply impossible to keep straight escapes me.

Israel was created by Genocide, armed with a WMD.

So why shouldn't you support the continuation of the killing? To not do so means you're not a good Christian.

Or the Men telling the Israelites it was there's to take and to kill the Canaanite, men, women, children and animals were lying. Ironic.

What hatred? Does refusing to put Israel on a pedestal and simply judging them like any other country constitute hatred? Do you think that people who blindly support Israel regardless of what they do have clear minds?

The purpose of the OP was a means to support Israel without supporting any of the negative aspects, this has been elaborated on by posters. Not to claim a country is a parasite, which is pretty radical.

What makes somebody a Jew and therefore entitled to the land? I'm sure if most people looked back at their genealogy, they could find somebody related to Abraham. So if it was based on blood, then a large amount of the human populates is entitled to the land. If it is religion then denying Christ is acceptable.

My comment was not in reference to the OP, I was addressing somebody else who said Israel is our greatest ally and friend. Israel receives Billions of dollars of US aid which is then forgiven and any attempt to condemn them is blocked. In return Israel provides us no strategic or military value, we lose Billions of dollars and everybody else hates us because we give them preferential treatment which lets them do whatever they want.

Parasitism- a non-mutual symbiotic relationship between species, where one species, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the other, the host.

It's not a nice term but it adequately describes the relationship.

I disagree, usefulness is not defined by monetary value. Israel has been at the forefront of medical, sustainable and other technologies. Additionally they contribute a huge amount to intelligence, counter terrorism and so on. If USA viewed Israel as a 'parasite' they wouldn't be in a bilateral cooperation.
