No argument. Republicans shared in the blame for the progressive agenda.

Nixon was a big government type, dare I say "progressive". Nixon believed in heavy-handed government control perhaps as much as LBJ had. By the time Watergate happened people had nearly had enough though and were more than willing to let Nixon and his heavy-handed ways ride off into the sunset.

Carter didn't look at things that way though and doubled down on the progressive agenda. Long before the end of Carter's first term people were finally ready to throw off the oppressive yoke of big government. That allowed Reagan to step in. The rest is history.

That's about what Carter thought, too. Reagan proved that thinking to be profoundly wrong when he freed up a few markets to competition.

Spoken like a practiced propagandist. Well done.

Perhaps Rubio can get caught on tape calling the 48% who identify as lower class saps who won't vote for Republicans because they're dependent on government, don't pay taxes, and don't take personal responsibility for being lower class (lazy).

There's that Democrat/Socialist fear of Rubio again. I'm going to have to pay closer attention to him now that this is apparent.

Regardless of what political hacks say, Obama was hired to fix the wealth gap. He failed. The gap between rich and poor increased during his tenure.

But we've been assured that if the top have get even richer, it will trickle down to everyone else.

Sounds like you're admitting that trickle down does't work.

Interesting how one of the left's favorite topics, the increasing divide between rich and poor is now being excused ... because it reflects poorly on Obama.

Weird.

Who has excused it? People are just pointing out the partisan hackery of solely blaming Obama for a problem that was started decades ago.

Also quite funny how we've also been assured that the increasing divide isn't really real or that it doesn't matter. Amazing the 180 the right has done and adopted a populist tone.

Pray tell, what should be done to address the wealth/wage gap?

I was thinking something similar. Not too many years ago there wasn't even talk of classes in the US. Now there are divisions galore.
Curiously, it was predicted by some.

He intended to shape America to be more like the rest of the world ... and succeeded in many ways.

Huh? I've heard talk about classes all my life, and I'm no spring chicken. What I didn't hear of outside of academia was talk of class warfare until Fox News came along.

Noting that it is not Fox News which talks about redistributing wealth. It is not Fox News which promoted Obamaphones. It is not Fox News which started the "war on women". It is not Fox News which is crying about the need to raise the minimum wage. Just sayin ...

Did you perhaps mean to say that you never heard of class warfare until MSNBC came along?

The better solution would be to improve their skills and productivity.

If the entire workforce increased skills and productivity, business owners can then pay less wages for the same productivity, as skills and productivity would be cheap commodities.

One can increase their value as a laborer by increasing their skills relative to the rest of the workforce, but increasing the skills of the entire workforce does nothing to increase their value as workers. Basic supply and demand.

Improving one's personal skills gives one a competitive advantage relative to other workers. It's a winning situation.

Improving the entire nation's work skills gives the nation a competitive advantage relative to other nations. It's a winning situation.

Improving the world's work skills improves productivity and everyone's standard of living. It's a winning situation.
