My Jesus says it is ok for me to do as I see fit, you do not have to play poker, drink wine, or enjoy a good fight, fine, but to say it is wrong for all, is a broad generalization, way to based on a personal experience. Some Christian women think it is wrong to cut their hair. Fine, don't cut it, you can wrap it around your head several times and make a fashion statement, really, enjoy:thumbsup:, but if another woman wants short hair, don't judge!

There are some Christians afraid of going to a football game, because they think it an "idol", fine, don't go, but let others who have freedom go punt away!

Enough is enough already. thanks! frog.

What happens is this. If someone had issues with a certain thing, alcohol, gambling, etc, then stops, he presumes that everyone else who still does enjoy certain activities, must stop also, because there is a presumption that everyone else, must surely have an addiction also, or a problem in a certain area. However this is not always true. One person can't go near a casino, another person can play blackjack for a while, and not loose his house.

So sensitivity must be taken into account, and shown toward the person who has freedom to be, and not to presume everyone is as the repenter, in the repenters prior condition.

If the repented one, who may have a weakness wants sensitivity, then he likewise must be sensitive not to condemn the freedom of others.

There are only four gods that can convict you of sin
God the father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit
(which most church bulletins call One)

and of course the little god of this world the devil.

we have always be on our guard against the devil trying to control us
with our thoughts and if he wins a little battle like poker or sports he can
win the bigger battles on like which church to go to.

God gave us free will to not to enslave us, but to see what choices we would make.

I like poker ... but not enough people in my church to play with so I keep a handy casino software game on my laptop.

Loosen up people ...

I even watch "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC hoping for a wardrobe malfunction lol

When a painter paints, he is bringing forth God's art. He is doing as he sees fit when he paints. He does not have to wonder if it is the will of God, he, his I, is one with the will, so he paints. God made beautiful fish, colorful birds, so likewise, God can enjoy a fine dinner with wine, followed by a poker game, with some Christian buddies. That does not offend God.

No one can beat Jesus at poker though, he knows who has what cards!:D

Here ya go, this verse might as well say "as you see fit!"

Rom 14:5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

I redid it the verse...looks fine, and does not change the intent or context of Rom 14 at all.

5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should do as he sees fit.

I agree everyone can and will do whatever they choose to do, but who are you living your life for? Yourself or God?

Does God want anything from you, for you, or through you?

What would you do with these verses?

"Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner." - John 5:19

"He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked." - 1 John 2:6

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what pleases the Lord." - Ephesians 5:8-10

"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." - 1 Corinthians 10:19-20

"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31

"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." - Colossians 3:17

Just some food for thought.

We don't have to do what people tell us to do, but we do have to do what the Lord God Almighty tells us to do.

"Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men."" - Acts 5:29

"Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge." - Acts 4:19

that they are sinning
where is your "dont judge" in those situation?

Hi, my point is, the new man is one with Christ. In Adam we were one with him, and naturally did the Adamic thing, without questioning, so now in the second Adam, we do the will of the second Adam naturally.

What is wrong with my posts?:)

My Rom 14 verse was perfect.

I never said they are not allowed to, but i showed what Paul said about it, you are welcome to show me 1 post, where I said people "can't".

People have debated doctrine for centuries, Paul debated, see Acts 15, and he entered a form of debate in Acts 17.

Isn't it wonderful that Jesus Christ selflessly sacrificed Himself for us so that we could all sit around arguing about our freedom to play poker and drink wine?

Glory hallelujah!

Actually, he wants us free. You presume there is something wrong with the OP, but there is not.

Read Gal 5:1, stand in the FREEDOM!

I think it is silly, and people teach that it brings us to God. Christ is in me, he alone is my peace, Eph 2;14. But I never said they "can't".

Just like how some teach that if we say the scriptures in Hebrew, God hears us better, that is not true.

Yes, they can talk Hebrew, but God hears Koreans too.

Paul in gal 5 warned of the leaven, and as Judaism is trying to be spread in the church today, it is ok to warn as Paul did.

you demonstrate with your actiosns toward them that you believer they are not allowed to. also i don't think ive ever seen you quote paul correctly in the full context of what he was saying

Then Read Romans 14 - particularly the last verses.

It teaches to be FULLY PRESUADED in what you do, and whatever you do WITHOUT THE FAITH that it's O.K. - is SIN - FOR YOU, but not necessarily anybody else.

WHO ARE YOU that Judges another man's Servant??? TO his MASTER he stands or falls, and his MASTER is able to make him STAND.

If you have a problem with "Martial arts", or "Sports" THEN DON'T YOU DARE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM - it would be SIN for you. But don't make the "Romans 2 Mistake" of becoming a JUDGE, instead of a doer of the law.

But as for me, since I can go to a Dallas Maverics game in faith (not that they'll WIN, of course) that it's an O.K. activity for me and my wife to go enjoy. And our "Crip Plates" on our cars gets us parking right by the DOOR.

SImple as that

ouhh it sounds so "nicey pie" ..

but im convinced you did not yet take it to the lord in prayer .. you say ..we will go here or there and do this and that .. but no one here is saying .."if the lord wills " ..because so few display that they even care what God wills for them .they just leap in and defend their own will .

where is the first love in all that nice sounding easy to hear doctrine ? ? the love that put's god first , ..the love that lays down its own will for others ..

its not in the words .. "I will go and do my will as I see fit and don't you dare to tell me i cant do what I want when I want how I want .

That does not sound remotely like one who is filled with the Holy Spirit - it sounds like stubborn rebellion and stiff necked hard heartedness .
life in the Holy Spirit desires the things of the Spirit in God ,not the things of the world .

but you have missed a fundamental point when you leaped in . and that is that no one has said sports or whatever is wrong ..i have said that we should not give our praise and our adulation(admiration honor devotion ) to another and that Only the lord Jesus is worthy to receive it .
i have said we should not bow the knee to the philosophies of martial arts as bowing the knees or saluting is in all forms and all sects and all religions a universal act of acknowledging ones submission

and i have asked repeatedly for any one to show me from the scriptures where martial arts has a rightful place in a Holy Spirit filled life ... none can yet they still defend that which has nothing to do with living for the lord Jesus .. interesting isn't it
