Like when they let the blacks and the whites start marrying?

No.

A marriage IS a union between one man and one woman; that is what it has always historically been.

Children deserve both a mother AND a father.

Doesn't make it right, just popular.

Amen. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Apparently, if we do not support someone's hedonistic lifestyle we are called bigots and haters. I will stand by my conscience until I am dead. God's will be done.

You do realize that inappropriate behavior with animals is legal in many states right?

It is legal in a number of states, but that doesn't mean that it should be, nor does that negate my point.

They are both things that don't effect you in the least and both things that people like you wanted banned because it hurt their feelings.

Incorrect.

Think about the baker, florists, photographers etc who did not want to participate in a gay wedding and were often fined or jailed. It DOES effect us whether you like it or not.

That isn't true. Even the Bible has old stories featuring polygamous marriage, for example. Anyway, basing your opinion on historical precedent is quite risky. Once the historical precedent disappears, you'll have to find some other reason to be against gay marriage. Hell, eventually the historical precedent might be in favor of gay marriage -- and then what? Would that make it OK?

Children deserve good parents.

I think, in my lifetime, it will just be a fad that will disappear. Eventually I think America will wake up and realize just how damaging the LGBT lifestyle truly is. I have seen countless gay men run from partner to partner never finding any peace or happiness all in the name of "love". I stand by everything I said. I will not be silenced.

As far as the OT goes, we are in the new Covenant with Jesus Christ. Officially, Christians recognize marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman.

I still firmly believe children should not be deprived of their biological right....two men and two women cannot naturally make a baby...and natural marriage is best for society.

That happens with straight people too, you know. And you shouldn't put quotation marks around "love." Unless you think love between gay people is all faked.

No one is trying to silence you! Don't be melodramatic. We both (I think) live in a democracy with freedom of speech written into the Constitution. Nobody's even gonna attempt to silence you. I'm just disagreeing with you.

So what? Neither can infertile people. If one parent is infertile, is it wrong for them to have children? And who cares whether something is "natural"? Humans are a part of nature, and so is everything humans do. Including marriage, which is a human convention.

and natural marriage is best for society.

Why? What makes a man and a woman better parents than a man and a man or a woman and a woman? Besides, it's not like if gay marriage stays illegal, gay people will choose to marry people of the opposite gender (which would be a bad thing anyway).

Right now 35% of children are raised in a single parent household. Wouldn't they be better off with two parents even if they were of the same gender?

I agree that the promiscuity practiced by so many gay men is not good. So wouldn't marriage be a better alternative?

Officially, Christians recognize marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman.

True, but that is something that grew out of Roman Law, not the Bible.

I still firmly believe children should not be deprived of their biological right....two men and two women cannot naturally make a baby...and natural marriage is best for society.

I would agree that is optimum. But often the optimum does not happen. Parents divorce, some children are adopted. Adopted children will not be raised by their natural parents anyhow, so what difference would it make if a gay couple adopted them.

Note Riley said 'gay men.' I think it is true that gay men are generally more promiscuous than straight men. But lesbians, on the other hand, are often more monogamous than straight women.
We all know promiscuity, especially among gay men, is dangerous to their health. So let them be married and monogamous.

Why would a legal status make gay men more or less likely to be monogamous?

Because that is the reason people get married, they want to commit themselves to a monogamous relationship.

But you said lesbian women are more monogamous than heterosexual women. Have lesbians somehow been able to marry for years while gay men have not?

No, they have been able to form monogamous relationships even without the benefit of marriage, something men seem to find difficult whether they are homo or heterosexual.

I'm just saying . . .

OK, so since heterosexual men have marriage open to them, why do so many of them fail to be monogamous? Even among those of them that do marry?

Not very directly. Most of what Jesus said about marriage referred to divorce.

Jesus explicitly stated that the reason for his position on divorce was due to the nature of a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Matt. 19:4-6).

I really appreciate your conviction, Riley...and I will be there standing with you! It amazes me, that on a Christian forum, that not EVERYONE is standing with you. God bless you!
