have you ever done this?

I was baptized in the spirit shortly before Christmas of 2014, my first tongue being an Arabic/Middle Eastern dialect. Today the Father decided to give me a second tongue, which I believe is a Chinese dialect, Hallelujah! There have been several times I feel He has asked me to go up to people and begin speaking in tongues to them, but the thought of it literally paralyzed me. Has anyone ever done/experienced this?

"""I feel He has asked me to go up to people and begin speaking in tongues to them"""

at these times, was it in your mind that the tongue language would be understood by those folks, because it would turn out to be their native language?

Yes, with very little doubt. One time I was in the student union at college when two Muslim girls were sitting at a table next to me and I felt the urge come over me but I freaked. They were speaking their native language. Today I went to pick up Chinese food and the owners of the restaurant are native speakers and I was afraid again also. How do I overcome this? I feel like I really let God down.

I get different dialects, usually in intervals of a few minutes, as though I'm praying for something.

One year I sensed a shift in my "normal" dialect, and was able to see similarities to a general region's set of languages. About five years later, I was asked to work out of the country, and wow I was shocked at how similar the language was. It wasn't exactly the same, but could have related to a nearby country or isolated group.
It made me think I was praying for these people long before I visited. (And it helped me with my accent!) God is amazing.

Godislove, i don't know if God is telling you to do this or not, and i doubt anyone here can tell you for sure. you will just have to seek Him in prayer about it more. i wonder: how do you know that you have arabic or chinese prayer languages?

i can't give you a definite answer, but i have a situation that somewhat relates to yours. i work in a building where my job is to take in bodies to have autopsies done. my job is to take them up in an elevator and make sure they are weighed. i frequently see bodies of children brought in. being a pentecostal believer, i very much believe God can raise the dead and that He does occasionally do it. so i prayed and asked God that if He ever wants me to pray for anyone to be raised up on my job, to speak VERY clearly and distinctly, in such a way that i can't miss it and that there's no confusion about it whatsoever. if i start praying for every body to be raised, i would soon be out of a job (unless they all came back to life.) i don't really have any room for experimentation, you see?

i don't think you'll get in a lot of trouble if you speak in tongues to someone and it doesn't work, you'll just be embarrassed, and you'll learn something about hearing God's voice. but just pray earnestly for the Lord to make this clear and He will, in time, one way or another.
