• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

That acupuncture sounds interesting. What is EFT and how does it work? Medication is not helping me come out of depression. There must be something else. I pray all the time for help. I don't know if there is something physically wrong with me already, I struggle to walk even.

Have you heard of Thought Field Therapy? It's the same thing but just a different name I suppose. People tend to think it's some crazy hocus pocus at first glance, but there's science to it. It's similar to EMDR, but EFT is about tapping meridian points on the body while thinking of something stressful to allow energy to positively flow throughout your body, taking the stress away from the thought. That's the science behind it, though I don't even know if it actually works. I do remember flashbacks stopping after doing it though, so maybe it does. It's worth a try. My traumatic memory is still disturbing to me, but I'm not filled with a rush of panic or flushing or any of that stuff. Just google EFT and you'll find a lot of resources.

Mainstream PTSD treatments are a joke, so I'm usually attracted to these more unknown treatments. I was recently talking to a Trauma Release Exercise practitioner and she thinks these exercises can cure PTSD by releasing tension from the body caused by a traumatic event, ending the repeating cycle the body faces trying to process the trauma. I'm going to see a practitioner as soon as possible and see what it's like. I read a story of a woman who cured her PTSD with this and then became a practitioner to help others. If you're interested in this too, it's called Trauma Release Exercises or TRE, but it's recommended you do it with a practitioner because it "unfreezes" the body from trauma and can cause you to deal with intense emotions.

Once I find something that works, I'll be sure to post about it on this site. I'll either live without PTSD again or die never giving up on finding a cure. I will pray for everyone here and hope you're all doing well

It's not working. It never works :(

To overcome an obsession, you must accept it and not resist it. It works for me every time. Sit in the sun, feel the breeze and the warmth, and let your obsessive thought overwhelm your mind as much as it wants to.

Restless, being on bed rest is so boring. I don't know how I am going to do this until the beginning of April when the baby is due.
Praying for you!
It must be boring - is there anything you can do whilst in bed? Maybe some kind of craft?
It seems ages now, but you'll get there

Thanks, but I don't think that will work with mine. It will just make the fears worse and the disgusting, sinful realities more true. :sigh:

Is there anything you can do to distract yourself?

I guess I could play a video game or read a book or something. There are plenty of other topics to pore over that probably wouldn't or couldn't trigger me.

I'm just very stressed out because the OCD makes me feel like I'm going to become something that I don't want to be the more I think about it. Like the OCD reflects reality when it really doesn't.

And the worst part is that it was basically people on CF that caused it. They didn't mean to, I know, but it's happened and I just can't leave this place to get my mind off of it. I wouldn't have much else to do in life. It's like this place is strengthening my faith while at the same time trying to tear it down and cause me to stumble.

Can you ask to be moved?
Praying that things get better for you

I've requested it multiple times and put it in my current interests in our system, since there's an opening. Still, nothing. The manager who would normally grant it or listen to me quit >:

JOSHUA was very helpful. My anxiety and OCD is starting to fade. :)

Glad I could help. To answer the question in the PM, you have to not give attention to the obsessive thought. You should react to your obsessive thought the same way you react to "the sky is blue today." Let the obsessive thought do what it wants and curiously watch it. Remember that accepting your obsessive thought doesn't make it come true; that's a trick your OCD tries to make you believe. No thought is powerful enough to make what you fear come true.
