Trucks is currently listed as number 16 greatest guitar players by Rolling Stones magazine,,,

I guess more Southern Rock than actual blues, but Allman Brothers is a very bluesy sounding band, I would have to go with Richard Betts.

Not certain about Blues guitar but django reinhardt is AWSOME at gypsy Jazz.

I had the good fortune to see Mance Lipscomb in concert once. He was really good.

I like SRV but I think people give him way too much credit. He never considered himself great. He never took any credit. He was always saying, "you can't create Blues, you can only give back. ". He said that because he copied the style of Buddy Guy and he couldn't take credit for copying.

? So he was humble and therefore not great? Afraid you lost me.

And he was hardly just a copy of Buddy Guy, though I'm sure Guy was an influence. If you listen to the 2 they don't sound the same at all.

To my shame, I felt SRV was just a Hendrix wannabe for a long time. Around the time of his death, I started paying closer attention and came to appreciate him as he deserved.

No, you have put some words in my mouth. I like Stevie and have all the respect in the world for him. Great would be an understatement.

HE didn't see himself as great. He just really loved the Blues. He played the guitar in the same style as Buddy Guy. Most think SRV invented the style.

I enjoy listening to many bluesmen play.

Currently Joe Bonamassa, Clapton, JL Hooker, SRV, and Jimi Hendrix are my favourites.

But there are so many more out there, the Blues is alive and well.

I recommend The Blues magazine based in UK, terrific read. They're new around 11 issues bi-monthly.

No such thing as "the best". More so what your personnel favorites are. Mine- Ronnie Earl & Jimmy Thackery today but I have many favs from yesteryear.

I like Robbin Ford. He's got some smooth sounds that play out well.
