why dont you christians like mormons

Without reading any of the posts in here, other than your first one which asks why believers don't like Mormons, I can only say that it isn't a case of not liking Mormons - anyone who is a true disciple and believer cannot help but like even those who are the most apostate.

It is a case of studying Scripture and having the Breath of HYH within us that causes us to recognize a counterfeit based upon the ultimate truth, but skewed so horrendously that there is nothing of the truth left in it.
That's what the religious beliefs of the LDS church has done - taken the truth and twisted it around, adding lots and lots of someone else's (Joe Smith's) imagination in the process, that the truth is completely lost.

Take for instance the fact that in Scripture, we are told that HYH [the Creator] says there were no Elohim [dieties] before Him and there will be none after Him. Yet Mormonism says that there are many gods, and that every man who is of this faith may go on to become the god of his own world.

How can there be many gods of many universes and worlds as Mormonism claims, since Scripture says HYH is the ONLY true deity that exists? Yes, I know that Mormonism claims this merely means in this universe, but that is not what Scripture says. Scripture is ultimate and final. There are no other deities or gods of any kinds. All there is besides HYH are many little demons who parade around pretending to be gods in order to fool those who follow the lies and deceits these demons have foisted upon the masses.

Again, we do not dislike Mormons - we merely detest the lies and the deception they (most often unwittingly) promote to the unknowing and weak of will.

Zyon,

I base that on Jesus' qualification for who true Christians are. That they would have love amongst themselves.

Jhn 13:35 By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

And if you have yet to meet a 'true Christian'---then it is just a matter of time. Jesus said that the good news will be preached all over the earth before the end comes.

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Hopefully though, not only your mind but also your heart will recognize God's people.

Sincerely, Lared

Leviathan,

Mormons are not solely found in the United States but in many countries. And in every country, the young Mormon men learn warfare in the nations' armies. The organized Mormon church encourages obedience to Caesar (human governments) as far as military conscription is involved.

So right at this moment.....there are thousands if not tens of thousands of young Mormon men in various countries that are learning how to operate a variety of weapons including weapons of mass destruction......that is, bombs that can destroy entire villages, etc.

During times of international strife-----Mormon wages war against Mormon, as well as against people of other faiths. Just of different country of origin.

On the other hand, true Christians are peaceable and do not learn warfare. Notice an important prophecy found at Isaiah 2:2-4 regarding our day.

Isa 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

Isa 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Isa 2:4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

True Christians are no part of this world and do not learn warfare. They are not part of this world's armies. They would rather go to jail then to wound and kill others.

Sincerely, Lared

I suppose I may have met a few ppl on this forum, who would fit the description of a True Christian. But I guess I'm too cynical to recognize it. I have to work on that. :)

Zyon,
There are clear basic scriptures in the Bible that enable one to know which religion is right. Are you familiar with them? There are seven main points to consider. PM me if you care to continue a dialogue.
Sincerely, Lared

which religion is right?

Man created religion. Christ simply gives and gave us the way to God, no religion, no artifical sweeteners or colors. Man created religions in his own image in an attempt to help God out. Guess what; God doesn't want our help, he simple wants us to obey his commands.

Somepeople say God is my Co-Pliot; No -- God is the pilot and He doesn't need us in the cockpit, we need to stay in the coach sits and do as he instructed

The problem with most Christians who want to discuss the "basis" of Mormon Doctrine and Faith, is their usual tack is to throw out canned statements they have found on a webpage. While these statements maybe factual, the Christian is simply parroting what they have read.

If you are going to discuss Christ's teaching stick to what you know, and stick with the Bible.

Eph wonders..

What book do you read to gather knowledge about Jesus..?

Joe Smith isn't Jesus...nor is he a Prophet sent from Jesus...

Why..?

Because Jesus said he wasn't...!

PLUS....what do you think Mormons who quote the B O Mormon are doing..? Right....Parroting what the B O Mormon says..!

At least give Christians credit for parroting the CORRECT words of Jesus Christ...!

Everybody is a parrot one way or the other...just some are right parrots
( christians )...and in this case ALL other parrots are wrong parrots...that includes Mormons...Hindus..Muslims..Buddists....Moonies...ect ect !

I have many concerns for the Mormon Church.  Mainly because they have doctrines that do not fall within the the Holy Bible.  Its plain and simple.  I don't hate Mormons but I do have concerns for there doctrines.

Eph says...

I don't hate Mormons....they need Jesus Christ just like I do......But I have NO concerns for their doctrine being anything more than another lie of many lies....that is dooming alot of people to hell..!

Anthony,
Who then are obeying his commands? Who are these people? How do we get in touch with them? And what are his commands? Is not one of his commands that people of like faith associate together?

Hbr 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Hbr 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Sincerely, Lared

Hi all!

I am reviving this thread in follow-up to my previous post (#35). It seems that the LDS is violating the 1995 agreement (which I refer to in my first post). The following is from the current edition of The New York Jewish Week:

Mormons Still Baptizing Dead Jews

Church has not removed Jews’ names from database.

Stewart Ain - Staff Writer

Despite a 1995 promise to stop baptizing
deceased Jews, the Mormon church has not
removed the names of thousands of Jews
within its database who were earlier baptized,
and a church official admitted that more Jews
may continue to be baptized posthumously.

Ernest Michel, a former executive vice
president of UJA-Federation of New York who
helped broker the 1995 agreement, said his attempt to convince the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints to remove Jewish names from its database of 400 million
names has been rebuffed by the church. Just a year ago, the church rededicated
itself to ending the practice of baptizing dead Jews and to removing the names of
those already recorded.

“In accordance with our interpretation of the agreement, they have violated it,” said
Michel. “We have reached the point where we are now going public. There is no
point in meeting with them again. My hope is that the church will understand we are
serious about this and will not just sit by while the church posthumously baptizes
Jews — not just Holocaust victims but all Jews, including prominent Israelis.”

He said that among the Jews the Mormons posthumously baptized were David
Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, and Theodor Herzl, the founder of the
Zionist movement. Anne Frank, Moshe Dayan and Albert Einstein have also been
baptized, critics claim.

According to Mormon theology, those who did not convert during their lifetime
should be baptized even after death and given a choice of religion. The Church
encourages its followers to record their ancestors’ names and baptize them in a
sacred ceremony.

Part of the dispute is that Michel wants the church to go through its database and
remove the names of all Jews.

“They put them in, let them take them out,” he said.

But a church elder, Todd Christofferson, said that is not feasible. He said the church
would, however, investigate and remove any Jewish names it is informed of on an
individual basis.

Countered Michel: “The onus should not be on us.”

Christofferson insisted it would be virtually impossible for the church on its own to
remove the Jewish names.

“The cost of trying to do that is astronomical,” he said. “You would have to do
research on each line. You can’t just say this name sounds Jewish.”

But Michel said there are obvious Jewish names that should be removed, such as
persons named Yankel and Chaim.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los
Angeles, said the church should endeavor to put this issue to rest by hiring a Jewish
genealogist to provide a list of obviously Jewish first and last names.

In addition, he said the church must better educate its members of its policy not to
baptize a dead person without the explicit permission of a relative.

Rabbi Cooper pointed out that there have recently been complaints from Armenians
and those in the Russian Orthodox Church that their relatives have also been
posthumously baptized by the Mormon church.

“The dramatic growth of the Mormon church worldwide and the advent of the
Internet age means that what may have been done quietly yesterday is going to be
front-page news today,” Rabbi Cooper said. “They may be surprised by the
sustained interest and concern from the Jewish community, and are probably
surprised to hear from other communities who also don’t like the idea of
posthumous conversions. …

“As far as Judaism is concerned, [baptism of the dead] is theologically irrelevant,
but emotionally it is quite distressful because it is viewed by many of us as a sign of
disrespect.”

Michel, a Holocaust survivor, said he became involved in this issue when he learned
that the church posthumously baptized his parents and about 10 other family
members, all of whom were killed in the Holocaust.

Christofferson said the church at this time does not have any means of requiring
those planning to add a deceased’s name to the database to list the name of the
relative who approved the baptism.

“But technology is getting to the point where that would be doable in two or three
years,” he said.

Rabbi Cooper said that is not good enough.

“They have to shorten the time period in putting up effective firewalls,” he said.
“They are experts. And they have to do a better job in communicating to their fold”
the 1995 directive.

He pointed out that the “only reason we are in possession [of the names of Jews
who continue to be baptized] is because there are people in the church who see that
there is something wrong.”

“The Jewish community is not interested in fighting with them,” Rabbi Cooper added.
“We don’t need another enemy. But we need to develop trust.”

Earlier this year, a group of Mormon volunteers organized a cleanup of a Jewish
cemetery in Bayside, Queens. While many in the Jewish community welcomed the
help, some were skeptical of the participants’ motivation, suggesting the purpose
was to collect names for posthumous baptism, a charge denied by leaders of the
group.

*Posthumous baptisim?*

I had never even had a conversation with a mormon until I came to this board. I knew absolutely nothing about mormons. I knew they had another book they thought of as God inspired from comercials on TV...When I started having discussions with them I picked up on the way in which they percieve God..That He has a corpreal nature, and that humans can become like Him on earth. Also that heaven has layers and such. They do not belive that God is only Spirit, and that that translation is not correct. They believe that not everything in the bible is true, and therefore have another book as well...

This of course is not what the bible teaches. It is completely different from what I believe, but that does not mean that I hate these people. Atheists believe in no God, but neither do I hate them. Just because someone discusses issues with someone who believes differently than oneself does not mean hate...I have had several discussions with atheists on this board and although I believe they are completely misguided (and they view me in the same light) it does not mean they are hating on me. Having discussions are at least constructive to understanding one another, but a religous discussion between belivers can take on another form altogether...

I find Mormons and their beleifs fascinating!!

In fact in many ways I prefer Mormonism to Christianity. I wish they were right! The idea of becoming a God, Hell not existing and God having a wife is really fun!!

However I know that it isnt true and so I worry for them. They have been deceived.
