The sad part about this is gideon really doesn't condemn anyone, not from what I've seen. He simply states facts, facts that no one here has ever disputed. That we have sin, that we do sin, and we need to stop. The major ones arguing with gideon about this are the very ones who in just recent past have vehemently opposed any idea of sinless Christianity, even though the scriptures implore all who believe to such a place. Whether we can get there or not is really irrelevent to the discussion, because the scriptures do state that all who believe in the Lord are to be "holy as I am holy". Unless I missed something God is perfect. Not one sin. So if he wants us to be holy as HE is holy, then that means sinless. Gideon is just exhorting people to that lifestyle. So perhaps if a message of condemnation or conviction rather is what some are getting out of his messages, there may be some things in the heart that need fixing within, before they go casting stones at imaginary ghosts and foes...

And you know what and how people feel? I don't think so. You know yourself. That's who you know. So don't tell me how and what others feel.

It's interesting how much love is shown here. Even though Jesus said love was the second greatest commandment there is no love here. Edification is extinct and people lol at a serious issue.

It's just as ugly in Christianity as it is in the world.

your quoting me out of context there ..its a reply to some one else post ..a post i agreed with .there is no lack of love .it is simply an observation.it is correct that when we log onto a thread of a person we know we will disagree with -and then we oppose the posts ..we actually perpetrate its promotion.

and that is amusing in a wry way .
love ..does not mean every one else must agree with me in everything and those who don't do not love me ... often it is those who don't agree with me from whom i learn the most in the long run ..... just not in the way they may have expected.

and we must always apply our own standards to ourselves also .. for it is with the measure we judge that we ourselves are judged .
unkind words about an OP are not justified when the only reason for them is personal disagreement with what they are saying .

BINGO! So many in the church today see love as agreement, and not saying something that makes others uncomfortable. Well that is not the case, Jesus ruffled all sorts of feathers (and I'm sure frogs too ;) ) and yet no one here would dare call him unloving. Love, true godly love, will act in the best interest of all people, even if they know such actions may lead to a loss of a friend, job, or even their own life... not sit idly by as people die and perish just so a spirit of acceptance and agreement can prevail..

Are you seriously comparing Gideon's sin threads to sharing the gospel? We are all called by Jesus to share the gospel.

actually ..i was encouraging and edifying my brother ... if you re read you will see that .
im sorry ..at present your perceiving things in a negative light ...there's no need to .
we, them, they, I, are on your side as well as gideons .
i understand you personally don't like what gid posts ..thats fine -it happens .
im really strongly opposed to the tattoo threads but im needing to find a better way to deal with that ... i need to give it to the lord because my present method is ineffectual except in causing strife ...

prorobinsons words have made me reconsider and im going to ignore the tattoo threads so as not to perpetuate a message i disagree with ....
.. at times i'm learning even as i'm posting ...

some recall how i strongly disagreed with froggy .. (sorry to rehash that froggy...) then one day after much bickering ..i repented and decided to purposely look only for points of what he said which i agree with and post in regard to those points only ... the bickering ended and i feel i get on great with frogster now ..and i feel great in my heart toward him ..
so instead of opposing gid at every turn ..fine that one sentence you agree with and ignore the rest ...:)

id rather be an ally to all in Christ ,then an opposition of one

the tattoo threads don't come up new every couple of days though aye like the sin and church isn't good enough ones.

its weird to encourage someone to ignore error when it is obviously there... every couple of days... over and over again. in good conscience that is not a good thing to encourage someone to do.

Yes i agree.

Even as Christians we struggle with sin so repentance is important sorry but it seems to me that some here believe that after initial repentance they no longer need to ask for forgiveness but this is not correct. Yes, we should sin less but we are not perfect, so when we do sin we confess our sin and the Blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin.

If you have ever suffered from depression, you would understand that just quoting that, sometimes does nothing.

Frog green above, Paul came into Macedonia fearing and depressed in 2 cor 7, 2 Cor 1 says he despaired of life.

2 Cor 11:28 says he worried daily for the church. And quite a few Psalms show depression, anger, and complaint, along with crying and moaning, filling his bed with tears, and that was not just 1 bad day..they would ask "how LONG oh Lord?". it went on for a while.

MOD HAT ON

I'd like to close this thread for a bit so it can be reviewed. There seems to be some minor flaming going on and I know that people want to be honest and speak out of love, but sometimes it can be hurtful. So please, give staff some time to look this over. Thank you.

Hearing and listening are two different things, amen? Many hear what I share again and again. The fact that they continue to read is hopefully a good thing, for at some point their hearing what I am saying is changed into actually listening to what I say..,.. and act upon it.

I suspect that many readers actually like to hear the controversy back and forth and see how each plays their hand. But even there, I am praying that the layers of unbelief that we have had built up inside us will eventually erode away and we will simply look at the promises of the Bible point blank, and say "Either God meant it or He lies."

Ahhh, but when a man or woman longs to please God and walk in faith, believing that they can indeed walk free of the grip of sin and self rule, they find this occurs:

They overcome the world, the flesh and the devil by faith...

Christ dwells in their heart by faith.....

We resist satan's accusations, steadfast in the faith....

We fight the good fight of faith.....

And in the end, praise God, He establishes us in the faith that we are now men and women with new natures, and the purity that He planted in the center of our heart that is us..... light with no part dark.... will grow out from that core and begin to drive out the habits left over from the old natured us, and replace them with fruits of the Spirit, new characteristics that bring glory and honor to the Son of God who now lives inside us.

Thanks for writing, Gee. My fervent prayer is that casual readers, and those who are "spiritual rubberneckers" looking at the back and forth interactions, seeing if they can spot blood, LOL, and yes, even those resisting the message at present that we ARE new creatures, and owe the old nature NOTHING.... that we all come into the fullness of faith and the knowledge of the son of God inside us, reigning with us, and that we become what we are destined for, to live out our time on the earth as overcomers, not as prisoners still in their cells, satisfied that they have their pardons in hand.

Blessings,

Gideon

Know I think that he brings judgment and condemnation. Because it is very judgmental to say "Most Christians ... " and "The church ... "
As Gideon is speaking about large sections of the Church that reside within the Western hemisphere, then he absolutely has the support of many leaders within the Church who regularly share much the same concerns as he does (but thankfully not in BOLD print). As Gideon obviously has his pulse on some issues that many theologians, commentators and recognised bloggers regularly speak about then I would say to Gideon, "Keep it up bro' you're doing an absolutely superb job (except for the ghastily bold print).

Might I suggest that you take a look at the various issues of Charisma Magazine where you can easily read the same things as Gideon has thankfully chosen to speak on (but withouth the bold print).

late reply as the last time i visited the thread was "paused"

your correct that just "saying "that to someone is not always immediately helpful in an apparent manner ..in as much as one cannot always see directly into the spiritual realm .. the speaking out of "truth" is never anything but advantageous.. there is nothing our common adversary likes more then then for us to be silent when it comes to the truth .. but "life" can be spoken out from the heart through the mouth .. through words expressed and there is no greater LIFE and no truth more absolute then God word..
so if he says ..put on the Spirit of PRAISE ..for the garment of heaviness,we do well to heed his words .

i know in our modern age it is become a hypersensitive topic .. but knowing the closeness i have known to such things and the very real and present demonic aspect ..there is no greater hope to speak the the truth of the lord Jesus and his recorded written word .. demonic activity is cold dark and depressive .. darkness is expelled from our lives by light .. thus it is written " the entrance of thy word giveth LIGHT".. the light of Gods truth "who is Jesus our LORD" drives out the darkness and with it the fear ,apprehension and anxiety that accompanies it .. " cal unto me and I wil answer thee and show you great and mighty things that you know not "
... many read the part that says cal unto me .. oh that more would actually do so in abandoned faith ...

i have often and will more often im sure ... unto thee oh lord do i lift up my voice ... "i cried unto the lord and he answered me ...

it's something we do from within our very beings and its noisy ... i have never heard a child cry out for aid in silence ..though that too is fully possible .

you or someone mentioned about the psalms where David cries out often in trouble .. i heard recently that there are only three times that the psalm does not end with him declaring the victory and greatness of God in faith .

but the topic of depression is one that requires many blankets of love because there are times in our lives we need more love then usual (and God has an endless supply for us :) ) and probably best broached in the CF recovery section

It might help to remember that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. If we have been blessed to have siblings on earth, we come to understand that everyone is valued within the family for who they are irregardless of differences. The journey towards this ideal can be long and difficult. If we can move beyond these differences and 'see' the true value of our brothers and sisters we experience and bear Christ's Love within the family.

God has blessed all of us with unique spiritual gifts. He calls us to use these gifts to effect His Will on earth. Which one of us would be a stumbling block to the other?

Now, it behooves us, it behooves me, as one body, one family in Christ, to encourage one another with love and charity.

the speaking out of "truth" is never anything but advantageous..

What I really love about the gospels is how Jesus related truth and even the bible tells us truth is wonderful. Truth in it's entirety. Truth that supports truth, layer by layer. Books of the bible explain the truth of another book.

How men choose to to try to portray truth is often messed up by our own sinful, fleshly nature which internalizes our perception of truth and what comes out in the end, often like bodily functions is not what went in.

We are blessed however in that the bible is available for each child to read, so truth is not dependent on man's transfer of knowledge, but the real truth in it's best form. The Word is spectacular.
