Hello, you know over the years my father has been watching these UFO documentaries. Problem is these documentaries are suggesting biblical events to be UFO related. Like for example when Moses parted the sea they believe the aliens used some pulse thing to divide the water. Then the fire that came to destroy the two cities was actually plasma techology or nuclear in nature.

Then the angels that come looking like people are actually extraterrestrial aliens from another planet. Then they go into the paintings of Mary and Jesus and show some "UFO"s in the background of these things.

I don't know, what do you guys think?

I think it is just the History channel trying to make money, that's why I stopped watching.
I entertain the idea of aliens but nothing like it is spoken of. I don't believe in ufos, who is to say if there are aliens that they are more intelligent. My entertainment of the idea only goes as far as to say perhaps the aliens people have seen were actually angels, the people just didn't know what they were seeing.
If he watches that guy with the Albert Einstein hair, just let him know that "expert" doesn't have any degree or experience behind that show. He is not qualified and doesn't even believe himself, he just reads a script.
I will pray for your dad. My husband entertained the idea for a while but after I asked him questions about the absurdities, he started seeing how ludicrous it actually is.

Maybe I will try to make him see how ludicrous it is. He does believe in aliens and UFOs (which so do I but not in this way). I am not sure about ancient astronauts myself. Problem is some people look at these ancient paintings and statues then assume aliens. Like for example: Some believe that the ancient Egyptian gods where real but where actually aliens.

I suppose when Mary the Virgin got pregnant she was actually abducted in the middle of the night and then got impregnated by aliens via surgery. Then the "star" that was above where Jesus was born was actually an alien craft.

I have a friend who thinks that God is a artificial intelligence running on a super-computer and the universe is a simulation. These are the sort of things that happen when you live in a culture where it is not "polite" to discuss religion, but its OK to talk about your colonoscopy.

Do you think there may be some life on other planets? Like some possible simple organisms on Mars? I believe so.

Simple organisms? Absolutely. Sentient beings? If there are, then our knowledge of God is so inadequate that all of our religions are just a thing to make us feel good about ourselves.

Ezekiel describes a 'UFO' as we'd call it now, it's God's throne. Its possible when the fallen angels came to earth in Genesis they probably had vehicle, which would be a 'UFO'.

One funny thing is in all these alien abduction stories from some people who are credible, said "Lord, help me" or "In Jesus name, get away" the abductions suddenly stop. Really makes you think.

I believe in alien stories and I've seen a ufo with my own eyes, but are these 'aliens' from another planet? Not in my opinion, I think they are spiritual beings crossing into this dimension.

The artifacts and paintings are real -- I have seen some of them. In fact, I was standing in front of one of the paintings years ago, and thought, "What is this?" I thought some kids had pulled a prank and drawn on the canvas.

I can see it would be disturbing for him to talk like that, but consider this: if aliens intervened in earth life, could they have also created the universe? Do small beings have the power to do what God does in our lives? If so, where did they come from and who empowered them?

If so, maybe we would need to redefine both alien and God.

These terms are just words, after all. It is like the word "angel" -- which means messenger. We treat it like it is a species classification, but it can mean several things.

I think it is safe -- while risky-- to rethink some of our assumptions of who God is, what inhabited our planet, and who else might reside in this huge universe. But when it comes down to the source of all things, there still needs to be a very large and powerful, extremely intelligent Creator-- whatever name we give this Being.

Language is just communication; words define but do not confine.

According to Mormons, it is the planet where the earth was created. There's a lot more to it than that, so I recommend Google.

Is it true that Mormons believe that God was an alien from the planet Kolob? I remember reading that somewhere, but I looked it up again and I cant find any sources that back it up.

It's in the Pearl of Great price: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Pearl_of_Great_Price/Abraham#3:2

It's sad about the LDS church as they tend to be really nice people but have some truly (literally!) out-there theology.

And if it rings a bell from somewhere....

Since God is not of this earth, we technically believe that he is an alien too. But,yes, they believe that his home was on Kolob.

I almost became a Mormon years ago and it was the Kolob stuff that was the deal-breaker for me.

Regarding aliens, do you believe the area 51 conspiracy theories? I've read articles online by Christians who not only believe UFOs are demons, but also believe the area 51 theories are true.

My ex husband does believe in aliens and and many other things that makes no sense to me..he mentioned reading stuff from different sites and doing research..I have no idea where he come up with all of that..much less how can he believe in all that nonsense.

To me all alien extra terrestrial activities are related to angels and demons. Angels can take human form and angels from the dark are pure evil, deceitful beings, they want to create confusion, distraction, using all sort of plots and tactics from hell pit. there is no truth in them.

God is in control, sovereign. He is a Spirit and supreme ruler of all He created on earth and in heaven.

The angels could be "aliens" and my meaning of advanced aliens, is only really highly advanced, highly evolved humanoid, see this post:

http://www.christianforums.com/t7861141-24/#post66959480

Let me know what you think, the angels could be "aliens" but their really not aliens at all, but merely a more advanced form than us (maybe, possibly) But God, the Father is not an alien, maybe they (the angels) existed as human beings at one time, who knows, all mere speculation anyways...

God Bless!

Maybe I will try to make him see how ludicrous it is. He does believe in aliens and UFOs (which so do I but not in this way). I am not sure about ancient astronauts myself. I am not saying the God of the bible is an Alien but i do think some gods were aliens. You see the issue i have is that these supposed gods seem to fly about everywhere in fiery chariots or silvery clouds. Pretty much nearly every religion has instances of gods whizzing about in some sort of silver cloud or chariot.

Now if your an infinite powerful god you don't need technology to move around from place to place.

Now if we assume these ancient historically important texts are not just a load of nice fairytales and describes actual events that happened thousands of years ago then the most likely only conclusion based on living in the 21st century and the knowledge we now now about stars and planets is that these gods were probally Aliens.

Pretty much most scientists think we are not alone in the universe so i don't think its too far fetched to think that intelligent Aliens beings visited out planet thousands of years ago and have been mistaken as gods by primitive humans.
