Never mind that Jesus changed water into wine at a wedding, and that the people JOKED about how usually the banquet guy has crappy wine at the end because everyone is drunk by then...

I never said drinking itself was wrong, but a minister, deacon or anyone in an authority position is held to a higher standard, for whom much is given, much is required. Also those in authority are to set an example. It was not till the past century that water has been made universally safe to drink here in the US. Prior to that it was common practice to mix beer, or other forms of alcohol in the water for the children to drink, as it was understood that the alcohol sterilized the water, this is a easily verifiable historical fact. Also alcohol has many medicinal properties, and scripture alludes to that. My objection with alcohol, is folks seem to become so zealous, over a partially rotten vegetative liquid (aka alcohol) and as prohibition showed, will become violent in its defense, I refuse to allow anything to have that much control over me, I must remain the master. The only Master over me is God.

Leviticus 19:28King James Version (KJV)

28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

If you equally promote each and every other precept in the Old Covenant without fail, then we can talk further. Other than that, if this is just an OT law issue, we can debate in one of the many "Keep the Law?" threads.

Oh plenty of space. I'm not all that covered... not yet at least. ;)
It used to be that among spouses the husband was nearly always the one who was more covered with tattoos, although this is not necessarily true any more.

Do you ask your wife where she thinks your next tattoo would look good?

Good for you. I could think of many other ways to remind me of Christ's sacrifice, but to each his own. For me it's thinking about Him all the time. Maybe that comes from being a follower for over 45 years, but I can't imagine not thinking about Him all the time. No need for outward reminders as it's all inside now. In a way I guess I'm a bit of a mystic in that regard.

I pray that the tattoo will fulfill all you intended for it to do.

amen:amen:

I had surgery and accepted the possibility of a blood transfusion and I have a tattoo mark on my skin from the surgery. So by your analysis, do these have to be demonic?

Your entire discourse boils down to this:

You believe Christians must keep the OT law and that if someone else uses something for evil, Christians are forbidden. Am I right?

What of the Occult connections, what do you not understand of prohibitions on bloodletting. The beards, which I do wear a beard by the way, are a sign of maturity, and growing wisdom. I think it well for all mature adult men to wear a beard.

Once again, what someone else does with a thing is not a determining factor for whether to forbid it for all Christendom.

The Christmas holiday may have pagan origins, yet I still gave my son gifts. The word "God" may have pagan origins, yet I still use it in my worship. Origins can be redeemed through the blood of Christ.

...and the Lord can use a Scripture verse or ref. that is inked on skin in addition to one that is inked on paper.

The occult uses the internet for its purposes too.

As for beards, that's a no-no in the Army! :)

bub that statement was so sweeping, you cleaned my house.

I can not help that you feel so convicted, that you feel the necessity of arguing with me. I will repeat this statement here often, check your convictions. If you were truly at peace with your stand, you would not feel so offended, or feel so attacked. This could very well be a conviction of your spirit.

This post was a question of the tattoo, which was an honest question, from what appears to be a person who is truly seeking the will of the Lord, and I answered truthfully, and with all the convictions of my heart.

You all who are fighting it, arguing it, your convictions need to be addressed. If you were truly at peace with your beliefs, then my answer would have no bearing on you, you would not feel the need to push this debate.

do not get me started on the military......And before you jump there, my family has served in every last war of this land for the past 400 years. My great grandfather was a WW1 vet, my great uncle WW2, grandpa Korea, dad Vietnam, brother Afghanistan

But our military has left the intentions of our founders since WW2

Where do you get this from? Your answer doesn't bear on me... I just don't wish others looking on to fall into the trap of legalism.

Instead of making assumptions about me and thereby sidestepping the actual discussion, could you tell me whether you equally preach against Christmas and the word God, which both have pagan origins, or the internet, which is also used for ill?

It's a different military, I'll agree, but I'm proud to serve nonetheless.
