Hi Steve,

The Department of Homeland security is implementing e-verify (What is E-Verify? | USCIS) to curb the abuse of fraudulent green cards to gain employment but the system is still subject to employers using it. However, in my opinion, the biggest problem is that the I-9 form (the form filled by any new employee to prove work eligibility) only requires two forms of ID, a requirement that can be easily fulfilled using a stolen driver's license and social security number.

It sounds like employers need to start using a system to verify the persons identity with what they provided. Identity theft is on the rise from what I hear. It would be behoove of them to come up with a system and use it, but I doubt they honestly care if the person is or not. It would be interesting if the stolen ID was of a person with a outstanding lawbreaking record.

I am not trying to be rude or show any disrespect, but why is it that you keep feeling it racist to WANT laws concerning who can come here? At some point, it is important to have laws as to who can come and who is here.
I agree!

I wish to enter the US (with my lovely US bride...You make them great over there....sorry if that was out of place) and must humbly apply to seek permission to do so. I am from New Zealand (a British colony) and there is no racism attached to my application. I am treated as any other 'alien' (sounds like I am from outer space...) and must follow due process.

I agree. E-Verify should be expanded to include driver licenses and social security numbers in order to catch the fraudulent ones. It's use should also be mandatory.

I have always understood that certain folk's immigration papers seem to be faster depending on the country they are coming from. I don't know how true that is though.

And it's even harder to immigrate to New Zealand.

I understand the same but there also several other ways to get a green card. See: Green Card | USCIS.

It is!

But as I have found it is based on knowledge of the country and all of these other practical considerations. Such as if English is your natural language it saves time and effort. And the fact some countries have diseases the US does not want, so therefore there is more time and effort for folk from those countries to sort that out.

New Zealand is well known, we have managed to remove the nasty human diseases identified, we have very few horticultural diseases/pests, we have always fought side by side with US, we have US bases here (I say this to simply to show US-NZ interation is common) we are part of ANSUS etc

Yes being a trusted friend of the US makes a difference. And I think it should trust is important.

I think the root of the problem is that the United States is a "state" but not a nation, there is no collective United States identity...yet the government wants there to be. They want everyone to be apple pie loving, flag venerating "Americans"...but that will never be, we are not a single nation.

Immigration is scary to many U.S. citizens because most of the immigrants have a unique national identity that is not parallel with the one we are "supposed" to have. It is an ethnocentric mentality that we were born into, it is no fault of our own, but it is a mentality we need to work ourselves out of. Once we see the value in all cultures and customs, these immigration debates will become rather meaningless. We have to remember that us Euro-Americans are technically strangers in a land that does not belong to us, we imposed ourselves on natives and destroyed their culture. Now we have a chance to right the wrongs of our forefathers by accepting people of all kinds, and by emphasizing unity through diversity.

A good step would be to help foreign immigrants out as they transition to life in the United States, don't try to change their culture, but do try to help them get their feet planted. I think it would also be nice to help natives preserve their ancestral homes, where many earthworks and mounds are being plowed away and looted, and also to educate our children on pre-colonial America.

And I'm suppose to care about what you or your scientists think? Not hardly. NDNs could careless about the racist agenda and the lies of your non-native scientists, who claim they evolved from apes. Yes, we can take your scientists seriously when they claim to be the descendant of an ape...
Exactly, thank you for pointing out how little you understand what you are criticizing.

The blatant ignorance and racist agenda of your scientists concerning my ancestors and my people won't change the reality of our history.
Yes, those vile and evil people who wish to better understand history and not cling to mythology. What monsters.

They can claim whatever they want and lie all they want. Nothing has changed. Yes, we NDNs are very accustom to the racially motivated lies of your people. They are still liars and thieves, and they are still racist against minority people, not to mention that they are still like a horde of locust, devouring and destroying everything within their path. Oh yes, we NDNs trust them to tell us where we came from.
You really do have a deluded knowledge of history don't you? I got a laugh out of the picture you posted comparing what was done to the jews by the nazis to what was done to the indians. I totally missed the part of class where it was explained that the jews in germany were part of a raiding culture that constantly and consistently raided their neighbors.

You're wasting your breathe, Wasi'chu, and I'm done wasting my breathe on you.
It must be some of that technology made by that "native" science where your actually talking to me instead of typing.

Oh by the way... Wasi'chu? What a lovely little racist you are! All your whining and wailing about "Red skins" and the first time someone points out that your peoples mythology is just that you bust out the racist terms.

And for the last time, there's no, eastern science, "native" science, western science, there's just science.

Thank you, my precious friend and brother in Christ. I will not abandon or deny my NDN culture, heritage, or ancestry to be a Christian. I do not have to and the LORD has never insisted that I do. In fact, the LORD has used me as a vessel to speak to my NDN friends and other NDNs I have encountered, who hate Christianity with a passion. I have been ridiculed, shunned, and criticized by other NDNs for being a part of the white man's religion. I have been told more than once that I have sold out to the white man's religion and that I have dishonored our people and our ancestors for being a Christian. They tell me that they are ashamed of me. I have had NDN friends, whom I have known since I was a child, abandon me and our friendship since I began to follow Christ. They no longer speak to me. I know what it is to struggle and suffer for the name of Christ. I have always struggled with my Christian faith and my NDN heritage, culture, and ancestry. And if it were not for a few NDN Christians, whom I have met over the years, I would not be a Christian today. They have taught that God does not expect me to or want me to become a white Christian. I can worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 3:8; 4:4) and still be who I am, a Native American. I can still be proud of my heritage, my culture, and my people, and still follow Jesus Christ. It has been the white Christians, throughout my Christian walk, who have told me that I have to abandon everything NDN to be a true and genuine Christian and to be truly saved. They tell me that I must worship God THEIR way, in their churches, and pray their prayers, because they say that is the only right way to worship God. And furthermore, just because I'm a Christian does not mean that I have to turn a blind eye and ignore the atrocities and the social injustices that have been committed against my people and my ancestors or against other minorities in this country. I will not be silenced as long as the LORD gives me a voice to speak. And that is all I'm going to say on this matter.

My heart goes out to you and all that you've suffered through, sister (((hug)))

Is it really?

I am in the position that
1-My lovely US bride has had to complete the immigration (into NZ) and
2- Now I am completing the immigration process to enter the US.

They are very, very similar.
* I can only share though on the immigration of a spouse... which is easier for both.

BUT One big thing about New Zealand is the fact we have few diseases (being a small island/s) nor animal/horticultural bugs/diseases. And as that is our prime income earner we police the border strongly. It will cost folk to sort out any medical issues, with all of the tests/inoculations but that is not aimed to stop folk.

Well said. And for the record, Wasi'chu is a Lakota Sioux word, meaning non-Indian and that is the term I meant.

I appreciate all you shared,
For myself though if I entered the US.
I would expect to respect the US cultures/government/public systems first and secondly share where I am at.

It is great to see you would help folk who have been granted permission to enter.

PS- New Zealand was similar in history in that Europeans powers (primarily Britain) set up colonies and entered.

BUT They at least attempted to do so with respect.. New Zealand started with the 'Treaty of Waitangi' (yes there were heaps of failings) that guaranteed native rights under British sovereignty. There is plenty of protest over the bad but the good was pretty good.
- Those entering had to purchase land from the natives. You could not just turn up and take over. This sadly was only about 70% successful as the two cultures had different understanding of land ownership.
- The Maori natives had a tribal culture with some pretty powerful warlords who attacked others at will. This was stopped almost over night and that was a blessing to those often attacked and used as slaves (and yes eaten).
- Christianity was like a light from heaven to the folk who understood God but not about Jesus. Forgiveness (as opposed to retribution through generations) was a new and wonderful healing for the folk.

Both coming here illegally and having fake IDS Freud because shocker they cannot get a legal social security number or legal papers are acts that NOT ONLY should lack of charcter, but also is an act that keeps GOING. You basically break the law and KEEP breaking the law each waking moment because you have NO right to be here and then you have false documents that you try to keep up and LYING the WHOLE time.

Talk about double jeopardy!

So those two year olds whose parents brought them here saving them from starvation and mob extermination are such horrible liars?

You still haven't answered why desperation is understandable in theft but not in fleeing here from a horrible place.
