Gee, you make me feel good! :) Also good to see you posting! Ummmm, to be on topic, I do believe it is up to each one of us about dying. I have a document stating my wishes and letting me go so I won't be a veggie. To each of us, our choice. May God lessen the pain of those in need and bless us all!
Don't be a stranger. I started a thread asking after you & WA. I hope you are doing well. :crossrc:

CBS news had an interview with her this morning. It broke my heart. One glimmer of hope is that she admits she might not do it. She showed two perscription bottles and they emplied that those were here "suicide tablets" (my words). It turns my stomach to think someone can be, and are, walking around with pills that will just kill you.

Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old married woman with terminal brain cancer, plans to kill herself on Nov. 1, after her husband’s birthday. The YouTube video she made to share her story and promote physician-assisted suicide has been viewed 5 million times. Her condition saddens me greatly.

There is much more to suffering than meets the eye...

Oregon: archbishop argues against young woman's suicide plan

Archbishop Alexander Sample of Portland, Oregon, has argued against the plan of a young woman to end her own life because of a diagnosis of brain cancer.

Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old cancer victim, has announced that she is moving to Oregon—where physician-assisted suicide is legal—so that she can die on her own terms. Archbishop Sample argued, in a public statement, that her plan is misguided.

"Assisted suicide offers the illusion that we can control death by putting it on our own terms,” the archbishop said. “It suggests that there is freedom in being able to choose death, but it fails to recognize the contradiction. Killing oneself eliminates the freedom enjoyed in earthly life."
The archbishop went on to say that the acceptance of suicide implies a belief that suffering and death are pointless. He said that people often come to understand the true meaning of life as they face a final illness.

I don't like it that an example is being set for others to follow. Remember Dr (?) Kevorkian? His first victim was a 78 year old widow with very painful bone cancer and only two weeks to live. It made sense. The next one was a man who was almost as bad. ALMOST. Then there were people who were not terminal and others with chronic illnesses. Then there was a man who was told he might have cancer and he did not wait to learn that tests were negative. The Kevorkian killed a 31 year old man who was depressed because his girlfriend dumped him.
At times assisted suicide may seem to make sense but once it is started there will be a slippery slope with no bottom.

I heard! I pray God will give her the grace to repent and come back to him.

She has now met face to face with God and has been judged as of yesterday. May the Lord have mercy upon her soul and grant her eternal rest. Amen. :crossrc: :liturgy:
