Finally, after 214 days.

Mexico orders immediate release of Marine veteran | Associated Press
U.S. Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said he was "elated" by the news and that his [Tahmooressi's] PTSD will be treated by specialists in the United States.
Noting that team Obama couldn't seem to be bothered to lift a finger to help the Marine. Leave no man behind: Why is Team Obama unable to bring home Marine held in Mexico? | Fox News
Unfortunately, despite President Obama’s Memorial Day proclamation that we shall “never forget” the sacrifices of our soldiers, he and Secretary of State John Kerry have forgotten about a living American hero in dire need rescue: U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi.

Lesson to be learned - don't be a moron and enter another country while violating their firearms laws. Not everywhere is like the US.
It is to be noted that the US road signs were misleading and road construction prevented Tahmooressi from turning around before reaching the Mexican border. Mexican authorities then refused to let him turn around at the border. He was perfectly legal in the US and even informed authorities that all he wanted to do was turn around.

Instead of simply letting him turn his truck around they put him in jail for 214 days.

It is to be noted he drove across that exact crossing at least three times in the weeks before. He also walked across it the day before. His story is just not believable - the idea that someone (not to mention a marine, trained to be able to operate even in darkness and know where he is going) who has crossed that many times somehow didn't know he was driving to the Mexico border stretches the imagination beyond any reasonable border.

Yes, they did put him in jail because he tried to cross the border with weapons that are illegal in Mexico. And he remained there because unlike the US, Mexico's legal system operates on the concept of guilty until proven innocent.

It is to be noted that Obama made deals with the enemy (releasing dangerous prisoners) to free the deserter soldier while this Marine appeared to be without help from his country.

Editing in...I must correct my comment of "without help from his country" to him being "without help from his president." Verification is given in a following post.

This ex-Marine was not captured in a warzone, nor was he captured by anyone. He was arrested for breaking the law of another country, which he did. What exactly was Obama supposed to do, other than put state dept. pressure on Mexico (which he did)? And how in the blue blazes did you remotely think this was a good analogy?

Because a soldeir serving in the military, in a battlezone, who is captured by the enemy and held for years and tortured..... is not remotely comparable to an ex soldier traveling to a neighboring, allied country, breaking the law, and dealing with the consequences of said law.... not comparable in any sane mind.

By "soldier" do you mean to say...deserter? By "captured" do you mean to say welcomed? By "tortured" do you mean to say...well never mind.

Apparently, there was a somewhat bi-partisan effort (though excluding the administration) which secured Tahmooressi's release: Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi freed from Mexican jail, immediately returns to US after strong diplomatic support | Fox News

His release comes after a lengthy trial and a Congressional hearing in September highly critical of Obama Administration efforts to secure his release and Mexico’s refusal to let him go. Tahmooressi said he made an innocent mistake the evening he crossed into Tijuana with three weapons in his truck on March 31.

While his defense rested its case several weeks ago, Tahmooressi’s release came only after a strong diplomatic push from former Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico and Reps. Ed Royce (R-CA) and Matt Salmon (R-AZ).

By "soldier" do you mean to say...deserter?
I said soldier and meant soldier. Despite the wild disparagement by some on the right, they cannot show actual evidence for their claims and show where he was charged with let alone was found guilty of desertion in military court.

By "captured" do you mean to say welcomed?
He was captured. I'm not sure how any sane mind could think that means welcomed.

By "tortured" do you mean to say...well never mind.
He was literally tortured, dear. I'm sorry you feel like denying reality.

That is good to know. Then I will correct my comment of "appeared to be without help from his country" to him being without help from his country's leader...the "commander in chief."

I can't help but wonder if those defending Tahmooressi would be so quick to defend a Mexican man who came into the US and broke our laws and call for him to be sent back w/o facing consequences here?

You might want to think about that one for a time. ^_^

Think really hard and long.

That's right... Aren't a couple of Border Agents STILL serving time for doing their job on that one, or were they recently released, I can't remember...
