So, I have questions I would like to discuss, but Ive realized that random internet forums and Reddit aren't the place. It just doesn't work, there is no way to separate the people who know what they are talking about from those who arn't even christian but want to put in their own 2 cents.
I really just want to talk to someone about my walk with god, and ask questions. I just started going to a new church and don't know anyone there, I'm not a member, and have only been like 2-3 times. I don't really want to just hit the pastor up there and ask to talk to him. I KNOW the guy preaching at my parents church is solid ( I went there for a while but left because there were no people my age) but since ive not gone there in probably a year and a half, I don't really want to go pour my heart out to him.
I'm not really sure what to do, I have some things in my life and on my heart I want to talk to someone about (who can offer advice and knows what they are talking about).

You can always pour out your heart to the Lord and seek Him
and His Word for guidance etc.

It's good to have people praying also... I believe it's called
unspoken prayer request(s)...you don't have to go into details.

If you have someone that you know and trust you could ask
them a few questions about some of the things that are troubling
you...I'm a believer in pouring out one's heart to God-- since He
has never "slipped up" and told any of my deepest, darkest secrets.

Hi anewman1993,

Yes, you are right, do not look in the internet for a pastor or advice. Meet a pastor you know already and set up an appointment with him. If I were in your position I would talk to your parents pastor and ask him if he knows a pastor that could help you and answer your questions. I am pretty much sure and know that when we are sincerely looking for answers and prayfuly asking for the Lord's help, He does help us and will led you to a person of His that will be able to help you in His name.

Praying for you.

I have been pouring my heart out to god, but, honestly, I wish he would talk back. I mean, its like i keep asking questions and getting no answers, despite spending lots of time in prayer and reading the bible.

If you want to be in a position where you sense you can trust someone, then you will need to be patient & take time to get to know them. This is true for just about any person, priests included.

I have been however, I would like to talk to someone in a pastoral position about several things, not the least of which is improving my walk with christ and my call to ministry.

I like my parents pastor, but the be honest its a very small church and I don't want anyone to know I'm talking to him. I'm dealing with some pretty big things in my life and would rather not have to deal with my parents butting in or bugging me about why I'm talking to him.

You might search the web site of the church you are attending and see if the pastor or an elder of the church have their email address listed. If you send an email, that may take away some of the ackwardness of 'hitting up the pastor to talk with him'.

You also might call the office and make an appointment to talk with him or see if you can talk on the phone for a little while.

Stick with someone you know and trust. Do not go on the internet when it comes to building upon a solid rock your faith.

Also its anonymous and one on one, nobody else on the forum can post in your thread. You may have to be patient though because they cant always reply straight away, but I found they were much quicker then setting up an a appointment with pastor from church..which can take weeks, if not months in my experience. Call on the phone if its an urgent matter though, or try speaking with an elder.

Most important is having that quiet time with God, reading your bible. If its a really big issue you may need to set aside more time for fasting and prayer. Fasting is important in this case.

Some on here have shared about seeking help from
a Christian life coach, have you checked into that?

Also--
Is it not possible to call the minister at the church your
parent's attend and arrange a private meeting with him
in your home or at another place that is suitable?

Try during a week day, not sunday, meet him at the church. If hes a good solid pastor, he wont rat on you to your parents.
Also he would welcome you no matter how long youve been away.

Some churches have a thing on their news bulletins that you can fill out and drop in suggestion box, and will contact you if you wish to speak personally with the pastor or an elder. You dont have to say what its about before you see them.

Hello all. I would like to vent for just a second if I could and would very much appreciate any suggestions from my brothers and sisters. In the last two years God has given me a great desire to study His Word especially when it comes to eschatology and many other controversial topics. My problem is now that I have finally formed my core beliefs on these controversial topics I can't find one church or denomination that agrees with more than half of them. Plus, once you really study these things for yourself you realize that not ONE denomination of Christian Churches agrees with another one on all of them. It is very sad actually. Some of you may think don't let the devil use that as an excuse. Get right in there and be of service to the Lord. But, you have to understand my spirit will grieve the whole time I hear false things being taught. I would be miserable. Plus, I would love to teach Sunday School and other study classes BUT, I love to tie everything into Jesus' Return and what our role will be during the Millennium. My family and I have recently moved to Sumter, S.C. and like every other Christian who spends a lot of time studying the "last days", we can't find one church that has it right in my opinion. One example of what I'm facing is what happened during my search this morning. I was checking out "beliefs" of local churches on their website and clicked on a seventh day adventist church. They totally understood that Jesus will only come once very visibly on our wedding day. They knew that the "Rapture Theory" is not true and that we have a mission here on earth while Satan is here in a Physical Body. But, just when I got excited about that I read that they believe that the 1,000 year Millennium is Satan here by himself and that we spend it in Heaven with Jesus until the 1,000 years are over. I couldn't believe it. There is so much confusion in the Christian Churches today It must make Father really angry. I believe that we will be changed and meet Jesus in the air on our Wedding Day (7th Bowl / Battle of Armageddon). We will serve as Priests and Judges throughout the Earth during the Millennium in our new incorruptible new bodies. I'm not asking for a whole lot. God Bless

A Call to Repentance

1 Come, and let us return to the Lord;
For He has torn, but He will heal us;
He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
2 After two days He will revive us;
On the third day He will raise us up,
That we may live in His sight.
