Will all Christians go to heaven?

It strikes me that most Christians think they will go to heaven.

In the UK, 71.6% described themselves as Christian in 2001.
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/profiles/UK-A.asp

In the US, 77% described themselves as Christian in 2001.

Jesus said:

Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Mat 7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Seems to me there are a lot of optimists around in the US & UK. Which categories of Christians do you suppose will be disappointed ?

I think there will be two groups in heaven. Half will be surprised that the place is so full, and the other half will be surprised there aren't more people there.

That is a very good answer. ;)

I've always wondered how anybody could know the answer to this from reading the Bible. It's not clear at all. There's seems to be many different answers in the Bible itself. The proof that it's not clear at all is the thousands and thousands of Christian denominations which disagree on various points of Christian doctrine, which includes how one gains entrance to Heaven. There's also the larger issue of how does one even know they are a member of the one true god religion? I've often asked Christians if they've read they've studied all god religions to ensure they are following the correct one. Many reply there's no need to do this because the Holy Spirit has told them they're following the correct religion. But what about Muslims, religious Jews, Hindus, etc. who make the same claim? Who's right?

If you knew what happens when any and all men die, you would not have asked that question. SALVATION of man is a "work" between Father and Son. Here is what they DO when men die!

KJV Ecclesiastes 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Ecclesiates 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 4:2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. 3 Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

Hosea 13:14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Luke 20:37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. 39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Luke 15:20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Isaiah 25:6 And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. 8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

Revelation 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me.

John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Ignorance and error lead to irrational thinking. But some men love darkness more than light! Perhaps you now understand what will happen to ALL prodigal sons after death. It also applies to prodigal Christians, doesn' ;) t it!

Those that call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. But the Word also says that there are those who will call upon the name of the Lord and say that they performed many works and miracles in his name, and God will turn to them and say, I know you not you who work lawlessness.

Bible says that we will know them by there fruits. Those who obey the word of God will produce fruit.

That's a good answer. But it begs the question of how we can know them by their fruits. What fruits specifically? And by fruits I take it you mean "works" (that is, Christian works, not legalistic works). What are Christian works? Invading Iraq? Paying alimony on time?

Seems to me, that the work of many people is no more that to lay claim to the righteousness, or reputation, of Christianity, without ever knowing what the righteousness of Christianity is about.

Psalm 73:9
Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth. (NIV - though the KJV gives a different rendering)

And this one is interesting as well :

Revelation 5

10And have made us[1] kings[2] and priests to our God;
And we[3] shall reign on the "Earth".

Well how about that , christians reigning on the earth as Kings and Priests .
Kings rule over people don't they ? and Priests teach and preach to people .
Gee I wonder who their ruling over and preaching to ?

Jesus is comming back to rule :

Rev 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron:

But he is going to need some form of government ( Kings and Priests )

Mic 4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

I look forward to living on the earth forever when it is restored to paradise conditions.

God's kingdom is a real government located in heaven with Christ Jesus installed as king by his Father, Jehovah.

There is a limited relatively few that are invited to heaven to rule with Jesus in his government. These are annointed Christians and as of this date, only some 8,000 are left alive.

This is what we pray for in the Lord's prayer:

Let thy kingdom come

(let your government rule over us as man himself cannot rule over us and bring about true peace and security)

Let thy will be done on earth
as it is done in heaven

(the earth has become a violent chaotic global garbage dump.........we need God's original purpose for the earth to take place.............that is a global paradise where mankind can live forever in perfect health, peace, and happiness.)

Sincerely, Lared

As has already been mentioned, this begs the question of what fruits specifically will designate one who will be saved? And I think the word says that people will actually do miracles but still will not be saved. I don't think it says they will just say it, they will actually do miracles. (Sorry don't have a Bible handy but it's at least one of the canonical gospels).

Anyways, it does not address my first post in this thread. Giving an answer like those calling upon the name of the Lord will be saved is vague, along with the rest of your answer. Not meant to offend, just stating my opinion.

No one has ever said, but who are the Meek that inherit the earth.

They won't be in heaven but on earth. Evee

Don't forget that a new heavens and a new earth with be created for the meek, just like Isaiah said.

But I also agree with believers being kings and priests to reign on earth, i.e. over the powers of darkness and evil (not politically).

But it seems to me that the fruits of a Christian is probably the most understated aspect of Christianity, and yet the most important.

Calvinists preach dogma and formulae about works, grace, faith, baptism etc (much of which I completely reject); Catholics stress the importance of Catholic dogma (which I reject); many are obsessed with premillennialism, and dispensationalism, (which I also reject) but when all is said and done, it seems these things are but sideshows, keeping people from the real Christianity which is to know Christ.

And with so many Christians approving of things, and doing things, which are just plain contradictory to NT teaching - and with so many churches tolerating and approving of that which is condemned as wickedness in the bible, it strikes me that the message that ought to be being preached is

Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Hi, Agnosticfront!

You need to READ my post again. It answered your question VERY WELL. God and Christ draw all men to Heaven when they take their last breath and die. "ALL MEN" include Christians and non-Christians, devil worshippers, wiccas, atheists and agnostics, and all "prodigal sons", Luke 15:15-32. All these types of men are "marred clay vessels" in the hands of our Father-Creator. Up there He makes them over into "vessels of pleasure" for clean use, Jeremiah 18:1-6, John 12:32, Revelation 6:9-11, Malach1 3:6, 17. How did you MISS the point? If you KNEW the scriptures you would not have asked those questions.
