Facebook has several uses for me but the main one is to keep in contact with camp friends I would otherwise not talk to at all. The second use is the chat messenger. A lot of times I will have the chat logged on but never actually be on facebook since it will be on my phone. Rarely do I update my status unless I am extremely excited about something. I also used facebook to keep tabs on how family friend was doing when an emergency happened. This friend was a sister's friend and her youth leader had made a facebook prayer group for everyone who knew her to post in. Even though this girl has been gone for several years her young friends still post stuff in it. Even if I don't do much on facebook I don't think I could get rid of it.

I use fb for a number of reasons But right now I am mainly focused on a fitness group I made and a preschool group I made to share with other people who work with children or have children.

The fitness group is really exciting for me cause it helps me keep motivated and on track, but also encouraged by others and how they are doing.

The preschool group is fun because I share a lot of stuff that I find interesting.

There aren't a lot of people in both but just enough to keep me busy and excited.

Also, I have a lot of family overseas and when I share pictures its mostly because I want them to see it and I get to see a lot of their pictures as well.

To keep in touch with close and/or childhood friends and family living overseas. EVERYONE (well almost) is on Facebook. It's easy to have the app on my smartphone and leave a message or a wallpost as a means of keeping in touch. I live in Jamaica and that is cheaper than calling via cellphones/landlines.

I pretty much only get online now when I am bored while breastfeeding. I use facebook to show my family pictures and videos of our son (my parents and brother live over 1000 miles away and my brother hasn't even met him yet).

I'm making this as a spin off from another thread...
What do you use Facebook for? What is its purpose for you

I have reconnected with friends I lost touch with decades ago.

I have become close with family members I have seen only a handful of times in person.

I have "introduced" friends and family with similar interests to each other.

I have enabled my "IRL" friends and my "virtual" (i.e. only known online, never met in person) friends to "meet" each other.

I live alone, have sleep issues, and rarely manage to drag my butt out of the house, so most of my social interaction, such as it is, is on Facebook. So I make smart-aleck remarks, regale with tales of my cat, opine about theology, politics, sports, pop culture, etc.

I use it primarily to stay in touch with friends and family.

There was a time when I had quite a number of online contacts
there, in addition to the "real-life" ones, but that got draining after
awhile.

Currently, the only online-friends I have are fellow Bejeweled Blitz
players (the online games are another reason I like FB! ^_^ ).

I may branch out again someday and take in more online-
buddies, though, who knows. But for now, I find a smaller, more
intimate 'gathering' is just right. :)

I wish I could split the groups...have a FB page for each group. One for my family, one for my husband's family, one for my writer friends, one for my church/missionary friends, but then some good friends came to visit two weeks ago. Missionaries and they offered to post messages on my FB page that would lead some of my husband's relatives to think about their beliefs. And some of my writer friends have posted some profound links that have helped some of my relatives.
Now I'm kind of glad that I have a mix of people on my FB... well, I still wonder about the atheists (two of them) who give me a bad time on a regular basis. I have questioned their friendship repeatedly and each time I remember that I am one of God's chosen messengers to them. I had one in my life in the past and because of my actions, he is in heaven today.
