1200 pounds? So 2 bones that weighed 600 lbs? Oh ok.

You know what? Let's just believe everything they say and not question or think about any of it. Nizar would most likely worship baal for more $$$ funding, let's just believe him already OK? That's what the bible said about falsely so called science [sarcasm].

lolwut? Where did you get the idea there were only two bone fragments?

I do suggest thinking about what the article says. ^_^ Start by clicking the link and reading it and then go from there.

You must've missed my post about 2 posts above. I already made my point calling the article a damn fraud. They found a couple of bone fragments, and computer generated what the animal looked like out of those bone fragments (kent hovind: a few bones bones in the dirt..in fact, in most cases...1 or 2 bones)
Hello McFly? The bones that were turned into fragments weren't the ones used to determine this new data.

Ever time you invoke the name of a convicted liar and tax cheat as support for your position, your argument just looks worse and worse. Even "respectable" YEC sites like AIG and ICR won't have anything to do with him and state his arguments are bad.

From the article:

"The fossil bones of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus described in the study turned up in sandstone beds in the Moroccan Sahara. Complete with skull, claws, and bones that formed the sail on its back, the fossils reveal a crocodilian snout, paddle-like feet, and dense bones that aided buoyancy, adding up to a life aquatic for the giant predator."

That is a fact, you can go to a museum and actually look at those bones. But by all means, don't let me stop you from lying.

Source: Giant Spinosaurus Was Bigger Than T. rex And First Dinosaur Known to Swim

And no, this is not a "Biblical leviathan".

This is awful pseudo science.

So the WHOLE thing was reconstructed from fragments of bones? This not science!

To put it in Kent Hovind's words: They found pieces of bones in the dirt and "guessed" what the entire animal would look like. That is not science.

Maybe, but it could also be remnants of something that once existed but we understand incorrectly.

Which argument is it countering?

BTW, I do agree that Leviathan does seem to refer to an actual creature in Psalm 104.

It refers to a creature that God made.

Psalm 104:26

"26 There the ships go to and fro,
and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there."

I hope that's no longer ambiguous.

"God uses the leviathan’s strength and power to illustrate to Job his weakness and frailty. God asks Job to consider how powerless he is against even the sea creatures God has created and to understand his position in the universe. God points out to Job that he could never pull the leviathan out of the water with a hook, which would seem to indicate that leviathan could be a whale. Whatever its nature, leviathan is large and powerful enough to be subject only to the sovereign control of the Lord.

Leviathan was a real creature, unlike some of the mythological representations of great sea creatures that do battle with the gods. Leviathan is no myth, but rather a creature of the sea, whether a fish, a sea dragon, a mammal such as a whale, or a reptile such as a crocodile. It is also possible that the leviathan, whatever it was, is now extinct.

I don't think fire was in the article.

I think it's obvious, Brigid, that there's debate on these matters.
Debate on what matters? Spinos breathing fire? No, there is absolutely zero debate on that. They didn't breath fire. Period. Nor did they live around the time that your verse was written.

I'd say that anyone who is reduced to using Kent Hovind as a source automatically loses the argument. Talk about frauds.

The problem is that if you go down this road, you get into a bit of a snarl. If all the instances of Leviathan in the Bible describe an actual creature that existed as part of the animal kingdom, you end up with a beast that had:

  • A tongue
  • A nose
  • A jaw
  • A hide
  • Limbs
  • A double coat of armor
  • Fearsome teeth ringing its mouth
  • Airtight rows of shields on its back
  • A snout that snorted flashes of light
  • A mouth that breathed fire and streams of sparks
  • Nostrils that exhaled smoke
  • An exterior that was impervious to swords, spears, darts, javelins, arrows, sling stones, and clubs, whether of bronze or iron.
  • A jagged underside
  • More than one head
And that:

  • Was a serpent
  • Coiled
  • Glided
  • Frolicked (in the autumn mist?)
  • Lived in the sea
  • Looked down upon the haughty

No matter how hard you try to single out an animal, whether modern or extinct, you are going to lack one or more of these traits. The descriptions are too fantastical.

Too fantastical? It's the Bible. It talks about great red dragons and mighty angels and people riding flying horses carrying swords of fire.

You forgot talking snakes and donkeys. So maybe, just maybe those are some of the reasons why half the people in this planet don't believe in the Bible, and the vast majority of the people who do believe in the Bible don't believe those stories are literal.

I didn't forget.

"Don't let'em tell you don't believe in talking snakes, only to persuade you that we came from talking apes" - Lavoisier.

God's creation is mysterious, wonderful and wild. The Bible re-ignites the "magic" that we lost when we grew old.

Also, I'm wary of any time you mention what the "vast majority" of Christians believe.

Whoever told you or implied that we "came from talking apes" lied to you. Get over it and don't repeat the lie.

Why would you? It doesn't look like you care about what the majority thinks. The majority of Christians (Catholics and moderate evangelicals) do accept evolution, that is a fact.

Hi CabVet, welcome to the club. The only entrance requirement is that Blessedj01 can't refute your criticism.
