• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Has anyone experienced brain fog due to allergies? If so, do you know what allergy caused it?

I've been getting it really bad and most days I feel like I'm a walking zombie. I don't take any medications other than vitamin supplements. It's so frustrating, I really need to figure out what's causing it and how to fix it. :/

I read this interesting article today Brain Fog

In my family I have found vitamins to be a problem. It caused one child to have a runny nose and another child it made his head itch. If I take vitamins I only take it three or four times a month because vitamins make me feel weird. I notice when my husband takes vitamins everyday it makes him irritable, so he now takes it three or four times a month.

For my granddaughter it is soy, but it causes a little more than brain fog.

She was reading by age 4, but if she accidentally got soy, she couldn't even read her name.

When she was in grade 2 she was in trouble for holding two kindergarten kids up against the fence. One in each hand. We discovered that someone had given her a candy with soy in it.

More recently, she has snuck foods with soy and become violent with her baby sister. Now it is all on her because she knows better and she is 18.

Thank you everyone for your response, I really appreciate your help. :) I've been on an elimination diet since Tuesday. I eliminated all sugar, dairy, gluten & fruit. So far it's going well, I feel a lot better and the brain fog seems to be gone. I'm going to stick with it for 10-14 days and then start adding them back one at a time. Hopefully this will help me figure out which food is causing it. I really miss ice cream!! Lol

@ single eye - Good point! I usually drink coconut water for the potassium but I haven't had any in awhile.

@ eagle48 - Never thought of that! I had an allergic reactions to stinging nettle. Currently I'm taking vitamin D and Spirulina, but I was also taking a tumeric and omega 3 supplement before I started the elimination diet.

@ Rainbowpromise - Oh wow! That's scary, soy is in so many products and the majority of it is genetically modified.

I think it would be a struggle to find something that isn't modified from what our grandparents ate. The bananas that my great grandparents ate, maybe once in their lifetime, are not the bananas we eat now. I understand that my great grandchildren will be eating a different breed of bananas again.
When it comes to gardening, the seeds we plant in the ground today are modified from the seeds of a long time ago.
