For example, my wife and I have a relative who is messed up in a lot of ways and could very possibly be dangerous to our kids if he were ever around them. When we have to deal with him it is in a context that has nothing to do with our kids. We deal with our kids one way and this other relative another way. We love him, but we're going to keep our kids away from him. And when our kids are old enough where we can't legally prevent them from going to see him, we will have taught them that it is better to stay away, and they will know why we have kept them away from him and what kind of problems he has.

Yes. God loves the Devil. Without question. Nothing (nothing) we can do can stop God from loving us. Now, how we experience that love is another matter - the real question, then, is does the Devil hate himself? As the father of lies, does his delusional behavior mean he is a victim of self-hatred?

Most kids I know tend to ask the question of "Does God love the devil?" in light of how forgiveness was offered for mankind in Jesus - despite their grave mess ups - and thus they hope that God will forgive Satan and he'll be redeemed. One girl asked that question to another one of my friends and it stumped him for a minute since she said "If God loves all his creation, should we love Satan and do we have the right to hate him?"......and of course, love for a creation is not separate from condemnation of their actions or punishment.

He absolutely loves him, and that is one of the things the devil hates about God.

For the moment, I'll assume you have not had an in depth conversation with God, with God giving you explicit statements.

So, my question is how do you know, and what does this term "love" mean to you?

Not saying God is like this, but just digging deeper into the term "love" and what it means or may not mean, I'm thinking of a man that abuses his wife physically, and his wife is angered by it, but the man explains that his wife hates him for the love he provides her--in his actions of correction.

One answer to the question if God loves the devil is: I don't know.

We like to have right answers for everything question. Then again... "I don't know" can be a right answer if the person saying it truly does not know.

God may well despise the devil. God may be just in honoring God's own grants of privileges and promises. Therefore, God may grant his once greatest angel his wicked desire to tempt man and lead man into eternal damnation. I'm not sure that means God loves Satan the way I love my parents dog or my nephews.

Of course, I could be wrong, I'm not God.

The better inquiry for the young mind is, if you love God, do honor the devil of incredible intellect who hates God and works to destroy God. Before answering that the young mind ought ask if they love their country and national identity more than God Almighty. Because if the young mind is full of hate and revenge against terrorists or treasonous persons in his or her country more than they despise the devil, then chances are they love God a lot less than they love their country and national identity.

I know because I know Him, and I am a member of His Church, and that is what the Church has revealed. and love means doing to the highest good of the other at the sacrifice of the self, which is what God did on the Cross.

we can have the right answers from Him, should He chose to show us. and yes, I dunno is a legit answer if one truly does not know.

if He does, He is not a God worthy of any worship. although you are correct on your last point. God's love is infinitely more intimate and open than any love we have.

actually, the better inquiry for the young mind would probably be, if you love God, follow Him and honor Him.
