• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Yep. I've had it on my scalp since I was a newborn. I've found when it's really flaring up, like during a cold snap, the most helpful, soothing thing is lotion with zinc and lanolin. The easiest to find is (believe it or not!) diaper rash cream. Some people find apple cider vinegar helpful.

Hi lismore - from your opening post, I am assuming that you're suffering from Psoriasis. Unfortunately, this disease can take many shapes and forms and range from small plaques on the skin all the way to mutilating systemic manifestations (psoriatic arthritis) or even the life-threatening Psoriasis pustulosa Zumbusch.

Medical treatments accordingly range from anything such as avoiding trigger substances and topical treatments to immunosuppressive medication or interventional PUVA-therapy (combining Psoralen with UVA-light). It's always a great decision to see your doctor, especially if you're on other drugs that may cause or sustain the disease, such as beta-Blockers or Lithium salts.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
Blessings, and get well soon!

Another remedy is to take at least 5,000 I.U.'s of Vitamin D3 daily, and mix the same with organic extra virgin olive oil and rub it on your body. This reduces the inflammation and helps with any fungal invasion. Adding essential oils to the mix wouldn't hurt either.

Crohn's Disease and Your Skin - Crohn's Disease Center - Everyday Health

my hands and fingers and feet , skin gets hard then crack and bleed and I couldn't type or do much when it was bad..

liver cleansing foods helped me most..

with lots of parsley , garlic and cilantro. to up nutrition and remove toxins(&) heavy metals a over stressed liver can't do .

all food here down there19 Super Foods That Naturally Cleanse Your Liver | Collective-Evolution

. this and a few legumes and tiny bits of fish is what my diet evolves around now that I have so much damage . because I had done so much damage before I was even 11. by then I had lupus and awful bout of gut pains and para cardinal infections that due to toxicity of mercury in some fillings I got at 11.. and I went in to toxic overload of come kind and had an ongoing case of pericardial infections 11 to about 24 when God healed me and all of my amalgam fillings fell out the same day . ten fillings.. oh yes! now that was REAL !

but after reading this list of foods is only when I decided it was liver problems .. because I had come to each of these foods on my own through prayer because they made me feel better they had already become my diet. like I can't exist without walnut milk ..

Hi lismore - from your opening post, I am assuming that you're suffering from Psoriasis.

Yes- sometimes on the arms and leg, the scalp is particularly stubborn and resistant to treatment.

But it's a comfort to meet others here who are afflicted in the same way. It's an illness that a lot of people aren't aware of.

I have found that stress makes it worse, stress and a bad diet.

God Bless:)

Well it is caused by oxidative damage to the skin by free radicals. So that's why diet can make it better or worse. Fried foods and oils contribute to free radicals in the body. Antioxidants neutralizes free radicals. So a diet high in antioxidants and low or free of oils and frieds foods will go a long way in optimizing the health of your skin.
