My gosh! I never thought of that! The scene at the opening of Revelation is the same as the old temple set up! I believe the churches as seven...

Smyrna - Martyr - Foxes Book of Martyrs has the Roman persecution as ten.
Pergamos - Orthodox... Pergos is a tower... Needed in the dark ages
Thyatira - Catholic - The spirit of Jezebel is to control and to dominate.
Sardis - Protestant - A sardius is a gem - elegant yet hard and rigid
Philadelphia - Wesleyism - To be sanctioned is to acquire it with love.
Laodicea - Materialistic - Rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing?

The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. - Revelation 3:20

So in metaphor of the seven churches we have...

The Outer Gates - Justification - Not dealt with in this metaphor
The Altar - Salvation - Again, not dealt with in this metaphor
The laver- Sanctification - Again, not dealt with in this metaphor
The Table of Shewbread - Jesus is the bread of life, appearing to John. The bread is shared in the churches in the form of the word of God. So the seven churches can be represented as shewbread.
The Lampstand - The seven stars I believe as constellations. We are all little lights for Jesus, held in his right hand. These lights make up constellations, in which there were seven.
The Altar of Golden incense- Possible references in Rev 4
The Holy of Holies - Possible references in Rev 4

To tie this is with the metaphor of Solomon's temple will take a little more meditation on my part.

The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. - Proverbs 26:7

I also have to make diligence to make my parable and metaphors equal and easily understood. It is easy to get off on the wrong track while reading Revelation. And, along with my Orthodox bretheren I must cry, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."

They were in the 1800's the most spiritual movement on earth. In the video below show some Lutherans who bought a Methodist church that was run down to almost nothing. I cannot tell you the Methodist churches here in VA that are in the same condition.

Both appear to give off a fragrance and smoke when burned?

The church in Thyatira has a longer message delivered to it from Jesus Christ than any of the seven churches.......
Thyatira means "sweet perfume of sacrifice" and when you study this word it speaks of a perfume that sends forth its fragrance as the result of bruising, crushing, or breaking.

Your answer shows that you know little of freemasonry and are instead relying on misinformation distributed on the web.

There is no such thing as 'advancement' once you obtain the 3rd degree. Which is blue lodge masonry. All other degrees are part of the appellate bodies. Although the degrees do continue numerically, the highest degree was, and always had been the 3rd degree, or the Master Mason.

There is a spiritual sensation when everything is right within a church. You can feel the anointing as you walk through the outer gates into a church, camp meeting, or revival. Even as a Baptist I use to feel this as we would go out on retreats as a young Lad. So... The question that I beg to ask... Is this God? It is my conviction that there are three spiritual extremes

Spiritual light Love, warmth, faith, hope, charity joy, goodness, peace
Spiritual darkness Hate, cold, fear, depression, sorrow, greed, evil, war
The Flesh Ego, perverted sex, filth, witchcraft, anger, strife, divisions, mysticism

I have heard that the flesh and the devil are so akin that it is hard to discern between the two of them. There is a path I believe to perfect spiritual light, or Caritas (Latin for pure love)... Things that cannot be taught for virtue is not knowledge!

1. Hope - All things begin with a hope
2. Faith - Motivation is a child of faith and hope
3. Charis - Grace - A powerful neighbor of caritas
4. Dynamos - Greek for virtue and motivation
5. Eucharisteo - Much grace... Gratitude
6. Charisomai - Well favored - A lucky kind of feeling
7. Euchrestos - Greek for profitable
8. Chairo - Greek for cheer - "Cheerio mate!"
9. Chara - Greek for joy
10. Chrestotes - An 'Aunt Bee' kind of Goodness
11. Charisma - Heavenly Graciousness
12. Chrisma - Heavenly Anointing - The Holy Grail!

I say! I felt that spiritual anointing early on as a Christian. I wish I could have kept it alive. The spiritual anointing is something we have to daily attend to. I use to follow RW Schambach and there were times that the spiritual anointing would flow out of his services And then there were times when I just did not know. Not criticizing the man, just pointing out that the Spiritual Anointing is something that is a daily thing. The Holy Spirits precious Chrisma is available to the good heart, but it can be a million miles from you if you veer off course. If I could go back in life I would have done more to keep the Chrisma flowing through my spirit.

I have also felt the sensation of the anointing as a Baptist as we would go to youth retreats. I would find myself missing it as I got back to my everyday life. These spiritual attributes can be felt in a true spritually led Christian meeting.

And another thing... Ego is not anointing! I cannot tell you the young ministers graduating bible college who come out with a head full of bible doctrine but very little spiritually.

When you journey on into the inner temple towards the Holy of Holies there is an anointing that can be sensed spiritually that becomes a part of you.
