What about anger? Does anger get us snipped out of the Vine and excluded from Heaven?

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[c] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[d] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

It's not only the homosexuals that need a miracle.

Joel Osteen tackles the question of whether gay marriage is ‘against the rules’ – Glenn Beck

In an interview, Joel Osteen is confronted with a question regarding his view on homosexuality.

Please, no arguments on whether or not homosexuality is right or not. Rather, do you think he handled the question properly? Was his response straight forward enough for people to understand his standpoint?

What a tremendous dodge that was. How hard is it to answer a straight forward question from a Biblical perspective?

I was more disturbed by the other things he said. Where he wants to build people's self esteem and help you reach your dreams. (Rolls eyes)

How about preaching Jesus and him crucified? I swear this guy should of went into politics. You notice he always tries to change the subject whenever asked a hard question like this? He may be more weasely than Bill Clinton who was a master of doing that. Contrast this with all the letters by the apostles they had NO problem calling a spade a spade or saying that people were perishing.

He really 'markets' himself as a self help guru. Ugghh. WOF rides again.

Maybe he wants to sell more books (no I am not jealous) to the masses to hear him tell you how to be at peace.

Have you ever noticed that in the 30 minutes he has to preach he never opens a bible and reveals to you the wisdom of it's contents, but he always says, "Hold up your bibles, it is what it says it is and I am what it says I am"

Music and worship and the excuses that we want to be a church for all peoples ... Lord I don't think I am making fun of your church, but only pointing out that just feeling good is not where it is at.

I was thinking more of Matt. 5, where Jesus seems to be saying that anger (an inward state of "feeling") may be just as damning as murder (outwardly acting on that feeling in the most extreme way possible).

Even so, thanks for pointing me to that. Seriously. When I compare several translations, and then look at the underlying words, it raises more questions than it answers.

At exactly what point do aloofness, being opinionated, and engaging in festivals and celebrations cause us to be excluded from the Kingdom?

He strikes me as a self-help guru that uses the pulpit he inherited from his dad as a tax exempt means to get rich. And as long as he can make people feel good he thinks they'll ignore the fact he isn't versed in the scriptures at all. But he was the only son his daddy had so....

When we meet people do we say to them. You are a sinning lying reprobate, would you like to come to my church so we can change you?

No. We give them the law so that they can see for themselves that they are a sinning, lying reprobate, and then we present the Gospel to them so that Christ can change them.

We all know that adultery is wrong, yet Jesus was kind and gracious to the woman at the well... why do we do less for the LGBT community?

You realize Jesus acknowledged her sin and told her to repent, right?

"Absolutely. I believe that God has breathed his life into every single person. We’re all on a journey. Nobody’s perfect. . . But I believe every person is made in the image of God, and you have accept them as they are, on their journey. I’m not here to be preaching hate, pushing people down. . . I’m not here telling people what they’re doing wrong." Joel Osteen

I'm not answering him...LOL:wave:.

I know you and I both give a lot of thought to, how much 'grace'? How much is too much sin? How big was the work of the cross?
If we as believers know that our sins are under the blood and that God Himself hung on the cross. The same God that literally spoke the universe into existence, hung as a man and suffered as a man... how big a work was that?:angel: Is it big enough to forgive me, you and my gay sister or is it somehow mitigated bc her sin is different then my sin? Or was it such an spectacular event 'a one time event' like the big bang... BOOM... "it is finished". There in no sin, too big, too horrible and no sinner too far gone that the cross can't cover.
Again, the only sinners that Jesus ever expressed anger toward were the religious ones.

God who made sex, intended it for good, and we hetero and homosexuals pervert his work everyday. I don't think Jesus falls off His throne in surprise at our sin. I think He knew exactly who He was dying for on Calvary.

I suppose the question is what is salvation, sanctification and are there qualifiers to our salvation. Is there a point of holiness we have to cross before we are saved? Bc I don't know anyone who gets set free at the alter, at the moment they accept Christ... it is a work that begins. I think Paul explains it well in his own story. When did he get saved? Was it on the road, or when he received his sight, at baptism or in the three years he spent being taught by the Lord.... and what about this experience do we take as normative? Or was Saul saved when Jesus chose him as his ambassador to the gentiles?

We simply do not know. The thief on the cross only made a simple gesture toward Christ, yet went to paradise...?? There is more we don't know than we know and we should always err on the side of Christ. His example was of grace toward sinners that sought Him and anger toward hypocrites.

God bless, I knew there was so much more we could agree on than disagree on...

I know one thing as I GET OLDER - I am leaning more and more towards the grace of God. I don't know how we are going to be judged, but I can express the love of God unto others and if asked my opinion on 'sin' - I will tell it as it is, in love. NONE of us are immune in any form. GRACE and TRUTH......DO NOT CAST A STONE, BUT SIN NO MORE.

Isn't grace more for those that sin and have a need to be forgiven?

Where if one suffers for righteousness sake ... is that the same grace for the sinner and for the righteous man or woman?

The bible says that the rain falls on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 10:24–25 (NKJV)
“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master."

How many times did Jesus say, "Go in peace your faith has healed you"?

Matthew 9:22 (NKJV)
But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.

Meanwhile He hung out with the "publicans and sinners".

So what does this say about us? Why would we do the exact opposite of Christ and embrace the religious folks as "brothers", while always making a point to condemn the sinners?

I get the feeling Jesus couldn't stand the fake self righteous types....have to confess they make me feel sick as well.
