There was someone who thinks Art is wrong.

I'm a little confused. Should not a artist draw images. Natures, snowflakes, people. It's their job. When it over takes you and becomes a obsession than it's a problem
That is what the world teaches....

Haven't you read what the scriptures say about the world? (James 4:4, 1 John 2:15, 1 John 5:19, John 15:19, John 7:7, Luke 16:15)

But what does God teaches? Follow Exodus 20:4 or what the world teaches?

Drawing a snowflake is evil to him.

art is evil if the artist is evil.
art is holy if the artist is holy.
art is X if the artist is Y.

X = Y

nothing stops God from transcending things on multiple layers of reality. good angels are over many different things. the higher up you go the more pure of a reality you see in all things regardless if the lower shadows are aware of what is going on or not.

This reminds of New Age (Occult) style of writing, sorry, I got to warn others.

I used to be a seeker of the Occult, had previous encounters with malevolent evil spirits, and personally knew someone who literally worships Satan so I'm familiar with this stuff.

If you did not consciously sought after these things, you might be evil-possessed. Seek help immediately!

Well now. Let us examine what the BIBLE says about ART.

Exodus 20:4

King James Version (KJV)

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Hmmm.............. ANY graven image or ANY LIKENESS of ANYTHING that is in heaven, (the sky), on the Earth beneath, or that is in the water.

I think we have some pretty specific instruction here. NO GRAVEN IMAGE OR LIKENESS OF ANYTHING THAT EXISTS PHYSICALLY.

Now, I'm not really sure what FORM of art you are referencing. But if it is sculpture, painting, drawing, etc.......................it would seem that the instruction is CLEAR. You make up your OWN mind, but from a Biblical perspective, 'art' is a form of rebellion against the TRUTH we ARE offered in God's Word.

And don't think that my stance comes from a complete lack of understanding from a creative perspective. I WAS an artist for MANY years.

Blessings,

MEC

And the art that was used in the Tabernacle?

Exodus 35:35 ESV
He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.
Exodus 35:30-35 ESV
Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan.

Who hasn't looked at magnificent art and not been inspired to be a better person? Have you ever read The Agony and the Ecstasy - the biography of Michaelangelo - and been absolutely transfixed by the man's obsession with perfection and his desire to portray the human body as correctly and beautifully as possible - in paint, in marble, in sketches? How could any of this possibly be construed as evil? Don't you think God expects us to use the natural intelligence He gave us to decide for ourselves what to do with those things that are all around us in this life? Using the logic that has been expressed so far in this thread, most anything could be taken as evil, and sadly, some people live their entire lives that way. Why anyone would choose that way of thinking is a mystery to me. God gives certain gifts to people - the gift for art, for one - so that they can be a blessing and an inspiration to humankind. Why not just accept that and be grateful for it and not try to see evil in it instead?
