Karl Marx wrote something called the Communist Manifesto that spells out how Communist is great and what needs to be done to do it right. In places like China and the Soviet Union they did it fast. In the US they appear to have been doing it for a long time if we look at the bullet points of what it should be.

"The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American counterparts are..."

Okay, the very first bullet insinuates that Libertarians would bring back slavery if they had free reign. The last bullet insinuates that Libertarians would do away with public schools.

And there are plenty of absurd shenanigans in between.

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes.

So Americans don't own private property anymore?

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

Hmm, I could of swore my friend just inherited money from his dead father.

6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State.

I guess FOX, MSNBC, and CNN must be state run?

Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

Pretty certain the factory I work at isn't owned by the state.

On second thought I think we don't have communism after all.

I think the author of that article doesn't understand the difference between "all" and "some" or even " a small number". Communism doesn't involve a few public factories or some land being public land. It's an all or nothing thing. If you don't think ALL the means of production should be publicly owned then you aren't a communist.

And that painting lanes in the road (with respect to #6) is the same thing as government ownership.

I could see Libertarians do away with the Feds running the public school system, however I highly doubt they would bring back slavery (for obvious reasons).

#11 - sheer hysteria and paranoia. Typically a fundamentalist American Christian problem.

Typically a naïve and uninformed -- or willfully blind -- liberal problem.

Do you mean liberal or Liberal? It's not the same thing.

It's willfully ridiculous of people to assume that it is.

I kind of wish people would stop treating the Communist Manifesto like it's some sort of Red Bible. It was a short propaganda piece written to agitate for a particular party in a particular time and place (namely, Germany ca. 1848). Please stop acting like it's the foundational text for leftists everywhere.

And as for the OP, the idea that America lines up with what was written there is mostly just your own paranoia or that of the people who wrote that piece.

Communist Manifesto 10 Planks

Yeah. This is on my list of worst documents I've ever read on the Internet, and it's pretty high up there. First, it condemns the 14th amendment, which happens to mention a public debt being valid but spends most of its length saying that no state can violate the rights of citizens arbitrarily (including the right to private property). Then, it moves on to suggest that the federal reserve, a successor to programs that have been in place on and off since the 1790s, is tied to a document written in the 1840s. It mentions two "income" (quotations in original) families in a way clearly meant to suggest that women need to stay in the home, and if that's not enough to prove that the author is a misogynist (maybe you think it's referring only to families where the mother would like to stay home with her children but can't because of economic conditions), it promptly slams the 19th amendment. It goes on to criticize the idea of a minimum wage, and finishes off with a nice note that the author really, really hates public education.

There's some irony to the fact that this list might actually trigger a communist uprising if it were ever put into practice. Disenfranchising more than half the population, taking away the ability of poor children to improve their socioeconomic status, and allowing businesses to pay people at sub-subsistence levels would not end as well as the author is envisioning.

Nothing personal, but it's kind of hard to take someone seriously when they address a subject like Joe from the "One Big Happy" comic strip.

I chalk it up to either:
A. Talking through his hat.
B. Misreading the URL in the OP as "liberalzone.com" instead of "libertyzone.com".

What would be the radical Libertarian's non-individualistic (that is, universal, absolute, rationalizing a legal government prohibition) argument against a parent selling his own child into slavery?

If that's the case communism must not be too bad because we seem to be getting along fairly well here.

The list failed with its first bullet point. I mean, zoning, really? Do you really want a factory to move in next door to you? :D
