Hi all,

I thought I would carry across this post from another forum to see what the views within this forum are on this subject.

Does anyone else in our forum discern-sift doctrines of men from doctrines of God in this way?

Especially concerning end time apocalyptic doctrines but all doctrines of men are equally important to discern IMO?

A “first” test by which some have learned to
“discern” doctrines- of- men from doctrines- of- God is that someone's doctrines- from- God, (although “sometimes” "imperfect" in grammar, style, history, and even towards God's perfect omniscient viewpoint), would always be “taught” by a converting person in an infallible way which would always mentor holiness* in their adherents, [**] AND doctrines- of- men are systematically taught in a “dogmatic” and “harsh” way and so are invariably “erred” and would never promote holiness* in any adherent, who would become similarly “dogmatic” in their "enforcement" [+] of their “dogma” upon others. (+: Note: for an example see the history of the valid disagreements concerning the doctrinal errs between M.Servetus and J.Calvin.)

[*: Holiness defined via scripture is - - "set apart for service" to "all" of mankind, and the Trinity does this without favoritism so that eventually 1 John 3:8b would be fulfilled in the earth as more "believers" would become "Holy" disciples of Jesus.]

[**: e.g. see the writings of the early church leaders in the Epistles and the Gospels and their own struggles in these areas]

So does anyone else in our forum discern-sift doctrines of men from doctrines of God in this way and if not what method have others been taught by God how to "discern"?

I know that Paul was continuously seeking God on ably discerning and confronting "all" of the various "gospels" and doctrines in his day, by what those doctrines or "gospels" promoted in their adherents, and something- like the "first- test" given above must have been his primary measure. This is why during the earliest times of his writing his epistles he wrote to the Galatians as strongly as he did, because he saw the end result of their errs could be a holocaust similarly to what occurred to the "religious" and the "Christian" Judaizers in 70AD Jerusalem.

When they and their "Doctrines- of- Men" had caused them to cease being any salt or light towards the world and they were subsequently trampled under the feet of men.

God forbid this should happen in our generation and cultures.

We are all in training to be a little more like Jesus every day, one day and one step at a time, and ultimately in each generation we are all being “sifted” and “pruned” to be more and more fruitful than previous generations, and will either rise to the challenges or will fall- away with the chaff.

May our God empower each of us to “become” the “blessings” we have been “called” to become, as we would each learn to pray and obey the still small voice of Jesus with faith, grace and faithfulness in our pursuit of holiness*.

Naa. I don't think there's anything to that theory.

doctrines- from- God...would always be “taught” by a converting person in an infallible way which would always mentor holiness* in their adherents

IMO, there's no reason whatsoever to assume that a newly converted person is going to either speak "infallibly" thereafter on doctrine or "always mentor holiness."

Hi all,

In response to the above post, from the definitions below for a “converting” person, these simply elaborate that a convert is undergoing a "visible" change from the norm.

So that even a novice can “infallibly” promote the gospel, due to their visible change from the norm.

Because the gospel is a simple message that oftentimes children can promote infallibly in ways that will evoke holiness in those who would hear it, when some might not hear it from others who were obviously more “arrogant-prideful” or “religious” and were not discernably changed from the norm.

My view is that many Christians forget that "how" the gospel is presented is oftentimes what rightly-divides doctrines from men that can NOT evoke any holiness from anyone, from doctrines from God that would infallibly kindle holiness from a receptive person with a “good” heart.

FWIW, your clarifications are good to have, but it doesn't change the answer I gave before. No human is infallible, period.

However, your second point is actually so unspecific that perhaps you want to say more about that. "Always mentor holiness in their adherents?"

Hi all,

In response to the above post, sometimes our understanding of another person's semantics is fallible and we need to communicate further via a post like this one.

Albeit as evidenced from the “second” definitions given below whenever this

“second” definition would be applied to an “infallible” teaching or doctrine- from- God versus a doctrine- of- men, ones doctrine being “infallible” is in God's view “consistently” possible for any one of us whenever we would “promote” the good-news-gospel to others under the Christ-like anointing of His Holy Spirit.

Which “always” occurs when we ourselves are truly “converting” and being salt and light for our culture, which would show itself as a visible change from the norm.

<><> <><

in·fal·li·ble
adjective \(ˌ)in-ˈfa-lə-bəl\
: not capable of being wrong or making mistakes : not fallible
: certain to work properly or succeed

Full Definition of INFALLIBLE
1: incapable of error : unerring <an infallible memory>
2: not liable to mislead, deceive, or disappoint : certain <an infallible remedy>
3: incapable of error in defining doctrines touching faith or morals

<><> <><

So the good news “Gospel of the Kingdom” or the “Gospel of Christ Jesus” or the “Gospel of God” are each always about mentoring loving-holiness and good eternal-life choices into our fallen world, which would then bear eternal fruit in the building up of Jesus' inheritances as they would make better choices tomorrow than they did yesterday, because of ones contagious love for God and others.

This would imply that those that had heard a “doctrine- of- God” from a “converting” person would then themselves begin on a path of their own conversion, even though as easily beguiled prodigal or seduce-able humans we oftentimes stray off that path, and sometimes turn backwards for a season, but this is where more “evangelists” like you and me are direly needed within our culture to encourage us all down the straight and narrow towards developing the virtues
[*] that Jesus wishes us to have
matured “into” whenever we would see Him face to face.

So my point being is that any converted person may never be omniscient or inerrant in their “theological” views, but can always be “infallible” in their presentation of the good news of God's eternal and immeasurable love for sinners and for our fallen world as John 3:17 and all other “holy” scripture inerrantly teaches.

So the hope of this thread is to encourage holiness amongst those who would read and understand the definition of holiness presented below, especially during this last pivotal hour before Jesus will soon reveal His glory through the clouds for all to see.

<><> <><

We are all in training to be a little more like Jesus every day, one day and one step at a time, and ultimately in each generation we are all being “sifted” and “pruned” to be more and more fruitful than previous generations, and will either rise to the challenges or will fall- away with the chaff.
