I purposefully waited to respond to some of the comments made here because it isn't sound practice here to do so while angry. There was a comment made in reply to one of my earlier post which I find the epitome of ignorant arrogant hubris. However I will respond in sequence.

Turk is the only one here to ever contact me with questions concerning my military experience. I respect he did that so if you are truly curious, which I doubt, perhaps you can ask him. You can save face that way.

Suffice it to say if I were still active I would go without hesitation. If called now, I would go without hesitation. And I wouldn't be carrying a stupid sign with a hashtag pictured on it.

So your answer is no. Your call to arms is nothing more than armchair internet activism, the very same thing you're railing against.

This response illustrates perfectly you know nothing of service in the US military, especially where terms such as honor, commitment, duty and dedication are concerned. The Combat Infantry Man's badge is one of the highest honors a service man can earn, because there is only one manner in which to earn it. Those who have one are proud to display it while those who haven't take pride in such nonsense as hashtag campaigns. And in attempting to denigrate those who have served in a combat zone by drawing petty and pinheaded conclusions that simply because someone can buy an item on the internet the Ranger in the photo can't really be a Ranger.

Again, you know nothing, other than it was more important to you to try and score an internet point than to acknowledge the opinion of someone willing not only to endure and conquer the training requirements of Ranger school and in assignment to a Ranger unit but also to put his life on the line in the service of his country.

Again, I know the guys in my Ranger unit, those I served with, even at our age would be willing to go in and actually do something. Because Rangers lead the way. The Obama-philes click on a hashtag.

It's apparent that in all of your seething, you missed a number of points - some of which were made repeatedly.

1.) I did not denigrate anyone in the military. I said that you can buy a plaque on the internet, and I provided evidence of such. That guy's displaying a plaque on the wall is no more evidence he's in the military than does my wearing a set of fatigues I picked up at Goodwill suggest that I'm in the army. Maybe he is a "trained operator;" maybe he's not. Who knows? I made my initial comment, because I see a LOT of people on the internet make all sorts of comments that give the impression that they have some sort of military experience, when reality is that the closest they've ever gotten to serving is joining a COD clan.

2.) For the umpteenth time, the hashtag campaign was not directed at Boko Haram; it was directed at politicians - just like any other protest, petition, or other PR campaign is directed at politicians. I don't understand why this is so hard to grasp, particularly since it appears to have had at least some effect on getting the Nigerian government to take action.

3.) Related to #2, your Ranger buddies don't go anywhere unless a politician tells them to. If that politician isn't convinced about taking action, you don't get to lead the way. Er go, if that hashtag campaign moves a politician to do something, your Ranger buddies are effectively responding to it.

But perhaps you could go over there and understand them into submission ... I seriously doubt they give a crap about public outcry spread via the internet.
The liberal concept of foreign policy, to be sure. Good stuff.
Imagery is powerful, and the image this picture presented to the world was clear and undeniable. In response to the kidnapping of these girls by the Islamic fundamentalist group Boko Haram, and in response to whatever other murderous activities they may engage in, the United States of America will do nothing. Except pout.
You have said far and above what any of these yammerers deserve in response to the nonsense with which they've responded to, but that one is outstanding.

Such is this Little Marxist Dictator's "foreign policy" -- hashtags, FB posts and begging and pleading.

Oh, and I forgot one: "It's Bush's fault."

Is this the conservative approach to reading comprehension? Not understanding that the campaign was not directed at Boko Haram?

Wrong. The First Lady expressed grief in the image you posted.

It seems like huffing and puffing on an internet forum -

What's stopping the rangers?

Your words may as well be a hashtag.

LOL

I know I can't go get those girls myself. I think our President is so afraid of what people think of him, that he has his wife saying it for him via hashtags.
I see the bigger picture. There is a military campaign being waged. Obama doesn't want to show his cards. But there must be another way to tell the American people what is happening.

Where has the regime been when the same slavery has been happening around the world for years? Libs love to dwell on our past transgressions but always fail to address current slavery around the world. Being in the 21st century doesn't mean a thing John Kerry, when Islamists still live in the 6th century.

There are some liberals who will also recognize Islam for what it is, but some are nothing more than Christ haters. They won't hate on Islam, because Islam isn't the stick up their bum. It's Christianity. It's why they will whine on about how "Christians hate gay people", yet refuse to see there's a vast world of difference between, oh, I don't know...saying, "I don't believe in same-sex marriage" and "Allahu Akbar! Let's torture and then stone these men, because we think they're sodomites!"

TEA Partier Todd Kilcannon shows his empathy wrt the UC Santa Barbara shootings. He tweeted this after Richard Martinez spoke out about the killin of his son Christopher.

{bleep} him. He is a piece of {bleep}. His tragedy {"stinks"}, but he blamed me for it and wants to take away my rights. The guy is trying to take away my rights to protect my family. {bleep} him every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Then he kicked the empathy up a notch.

No idea how my son will die, but I know it won't be cowering like a {bleep} at UC Santa Barbara. Any son of mine would have been shooting back.

What I most object to in this administration is how they take on the models better suited for regular people who have very little power to act on their own.
this is the presidency that we are talking about. Mrs. Obama does not need to take her campaign to the internet in order to stir up the powers-that-be to do something. It is well within the power of the Presidency of the United States to exert power in the world wherever the United States Presidency chooses to exert power.
Hashtags are the avenues available to thirteen year old school girls. Presidencies that resort to hasntagging have reduced themselves to the power that any starry eyed tweener has available to her.

Most definitely if the President were to take actions there would be fur flying and extreme political consequences, just like their always is when a president exerts power. It is really up to the President to make that decision and take the responsibility for his actions, for good or for bad.
It is not easy being responsible. But that is what real presidents do.

It is just pathetic, and embarrassing to the office of the Presidency to see the movers and shakers of the world reduced to the tactics that any high schooler could do. The reasons for the internet postings is to give the people in power an indication that they have a popular mandate to act.

Guess what?
Aping a high school girl is not even leading from behind. It is not taking responsibility and it is not taking action. It is a pathetic response from someone who actually has the power to do something about it.

Is he up for reelection this year by chance, Incognito? If so, I hope Democrats make ads with that sound bite and play it over and over again until November.
