HGTV won't support new show because hosts are anti-abortion and anti-LGBT

Whatever nothing new, Western society is Pro-LGBT and Pro-Abortion and a corporation is simply giving the people what they want. Of course I'm rather upset at the hypocrisy that Mozilla can fire their CEO, HGTV can refuse to pilot these two brothers but Catholics schools can't fire teachers and staff for breaking their morality contracts!

I guess corporations just have more protection of their moral views than a freaking religiously backed institution.

Given the folks I know that watch anything on HGTV...I am not surprised they are worried about airing the show. I can't say I know many socially conservative folks that actually watch it, but that is just the ones I know.

You have to realize why the schools were found to be in violation of the law for firing the teachers who became pregnant. (If there are other cases where the fired person has won, let me know, but I only know of the pregnancy ones).

The United States has made it illegal to fire a women for becoming pregnant so that women didn't feel like they were unable to start a family. So, when a school fires a teacher for becoming pregnant, they are violating this law. The only way for the school would be able to do this is if the teachers are declared as ministers for the religion backing the school, which I don't believe Catholicism does. Before anybody says it, the contract signed that involved those rights being taken away are not enforceable in court because the law supersedes them.

There are a lot of gay couples on the channel but I'm there for the tips.

Hate to buy into stereotypes, but lets face...gay guys do tend to give fairly good advice on DIY decorating and design and such. ;)

My wife likes to watch a lot of their shows. And same-sex couples are very common on it.

But most of the shows are for $50,000 remodeling and we just want a tip on a small project.

Absolutely. I hate it when they pull that nonsense. When these actively gay characters appear on much of anything, I switch the channel pronto.

I like the House Hunters shows. But I have to admit, if it's a gay couple, I usually change the channel.

Why? You watch people commit murder, people commit adultery, people steal things, and people have premarital sex on tv/in movies. What makes a gay couple getting a room makeover special?

Most of the time I see a gay couple on T.V it seems like someone is trying to make a statement. It's like "Hey look at this gay couple! Do you see how normal they are! Look at how we wont acknowledge that theyre gay! BECAUSE IT'S SO NORMAL IN THE 21st CENTURY! ACCEPT IT!!!!" I dont care enough about randoms on T.V to make a big deal about them being gay, but stuff like that makes me roll my eyes.

That's a good point, Jaded. I did not think of that.

I feel like television stereotypes minorities in general - and not just with queer characters, but I have noticed this with disabled characters and Christian characters, too. So, I feel like, when a show says that, "We are so normal! Look!" while piggybacking on stereotypes, it just shows the majority, that the minorities aren't actually normal people who are doing normal things.

Meh...it depends on your taste I guess. People always remember the gay interior designer versus the majority of straight interior designers.
