Does anyone know, did the Roman Catholic Church ever formally reject or anathematize the eastern teaching on God's essence and uncreated energies, and our participation in them?

No, they didn't. It just does not fit in with western thinking. We see no distinction - that God is act. I guess it just was never an issue that it needed to be condemned or approved.

well, it was, I just dunno if it has the old rubber stamp (like Arianism). they did take the opposing side of St Gregory Palamas concerning this.

There were some Catholic academics (maybe monks?) who called the essence/energies distinction heretical in the 1930s or 40s I believe. The original paper publication was in French but I can hunt down the paper if you all are really interested.

Given this, there is no official Catholic Church Dogma on the matter.
