I've never added works to faith for salvation. Not once.
Your view demands the addition, whether you understand it or not. Makes no difference. You've been clear; those who claim faith but have no works aren't saved.

ie, without works, one is not saved. Pretty clear.

Yes, giving the correct view does refute you since they both cannot be correct.
I gave the correct view and you haven't refuted it. Just claiming your view is the correct one is hardly a refutation. ^_^

So people who just say they are Christians, but aren't? James would agree. He says they have dead faith.
You've really misunderstand my points by a mile.

There are many people in liberal churches who think they are "Christians" just because they are associated with a church (usually liberal mainline denominations). They are deceived, which is quite different than spies who are LYING when they claim to be a Christian.

I gave verses to answer your question. Apparently you didn't understand them.

I'm not talking about those deliberately trying to deceive. I'm talking about false converts.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the OP.

Since you have no understanding of what he wrote, impossible.

I didn't claim it. I've shown it.
All that was done was claim it. I guess we could say that you've shown what you've claimed. No refutation of my view, nor proof of your view.

I know what you're talking about, but the Bible doesn't use your terms, so what you're talking about doesn't exist.

A convert is one who has converted. If words have any meaning.

The Bible speaks of spies and called them falsea brethren. They were liars.

I noted those who are not saved but think they are saved because of their false doctrine, from one of the mainline liberal denominations.

Your term doesn't fit either category. So your question cannot be answered. Try Biblical words and terms. Then I can answer.

So no such thing as a false convert, even though you just described one. Okay.

So I didn't just "describe" one. I noted that there is no such thing, as you now also admit.

But why you went through all this just to align with my view is puzzling.

You first used the term "false convert" in post #176 and asked me to define it apart from James 2:14.

Since you agree with me that there is no such thing, why did you ask it?

So no false converts in free grace theology (a term not used in scripture).

Can you show me any mention of false converts in Scripture?
Nothing that you'll accept because your free grace [term not found in scripture] theology says that if anyone even says they believe, they are saved forever.

Scripture does speak of false brethren , in Galations

I am truly amazed that your error of my view is perpetuated. NO ONE in free grace theology EVER says that "if anyone even says they believe, they are saved forever".

What is clearly emphasized is what people HAVE BELIEVED, not what people claim to believe.

It's never about words said. It's all about placing one's trust in Christ for eternal life.

Do you really understand the difference here? It seems not. Or, just another stab at trying to mischaracterize a theology that you don't like but cannot refute.

btw, so what that "free grace" isn't found in Scripture? Either is "Trinity", "rapture" and many other words that are fully accepted theologically.

How about this: Calvinism isn't mentioned either. And it isn't taught either. ^_^

Oh, one more thing. Since you believe there is mention of "false converts" in Scripture, though obviously not those exact words, please just define the term. So I know what you mean when you use the word. Thanks.

It appears from your post here that maybe you DO believe that someone could say they have faith, but not actually be saved.

I've been very clear all along. Of course people can make claims as to being saved, or being a Christian. Some have been deceived and don't understand saving faith. Just look at the mainline liberal protestant denominations. They think they are Christian because they go to church, etc. Yet they have no idea.

Now, if you mention anything about being "saved", or "born again", then you'll realize just how ignorant they are of true Christianity.

There is the other category; the deceiver who lies in order to gain something. Missionaries report that in the field many people will claim to have believed in order to get access to food, medical services, etc.
