It looks like a lot is missing. Song of Solomon and Daniel?
What would you have me remove to make room for these? I picked sections that I thought would make for good discussion. The Song of Solomon is love poetry which is fine reading for those who like poetry (I don't) but I am not sure what there would be to discuss. Daniel is a story but, to be honest, I don't see much point to this story. Does it teach anything new or interesting?

I think Daniel 3 is a great "story" to discuss. It demonstrates God saving those who remain steadfast for him in the face of a world gone astray...but I guess that isn't really pertinent in this day and age ;)

You could cover all of the Old Testament.

Here's a yearly OT lectionary (it's the last one on the page) you could use to help divide it up more to your liking. It also includes deuterocanon (which I think is too interesting to leave out).

Thanks but I am aiming for a weekly group covering at most 4 chapters per week. Of course I have read all of the Bible including the Apocrypha. But I am aiming for something like the Jewish parsha system, that is manageable for most people in a year.

These are two of my personal favorites. What a good book. (Deuteronomy 20:10-14) As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT) If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

You should be pleased to know that both are included in my list. Just so that you understand my perspective, there is nothing in this world that I despise more than modern culture.

I am looking for people who are interested in understanding and following the ethical ideas of the Old Testament. I don't much care what they believe. My interest is in morality. I plan to organize one group online and another locally.

From this list, I am missing Judges and Daniel. Judges is just too long to fit in, though I included the story of Samson because it is famous. I discussed Daniel in this thread already, but I am curious to know if you are leaning towards Christianity which would explain your interest in Daniel. If you aren't leaning towards Christianity, I would like to understand what you like about Daniel.

Then I wonder if you could trim-down your list? Maybe you could group scattered stories and teachings that address the same moral dilemma into a single session?

I just enjoy reading Daniel (the lion's den from Sunday school).:)
Another book I forgot in my original list is Tobit.

Of course your study plan focuses on morality. I was always more interested in the fun stories and religious oddities like what is the relationship between Moses' religion and Balaam's religion? What's the story with Enoch?

Or another example, I read recently that there are signs that the books of Samuel were spliced together from two conflicting traditions. Those are the things that interest me.
