Are you going to watch the movie "Noah" with Russel Crowe?

I thought I'd share this blog about the question as to boycott this movie or to see it:

Boycott all Noah Stories Ever! | walk in love.

Recently I read a few artistic interpretations of the story of Noah and I want everyone to BOYCOTT them! As you can see from the covers above there are a lot of errors that don't match up with the Biblical story.

For example:

1. The arks are far too small to fit all the animals.

2. It would have been very hard for the animals to survive a flood hanging over the edge like that.

3. Noah looks different in every book so they all can't be correct.

4. There are words in each book that don't appear in the original Bible story.

Those are just some of the many interpretations that the artists took and I can't stand for it. So, I want all of you to get on my side and back my boycott. I don't want you to read any of the books or think for yourself. I just want you to believe me. I want you to start arguing with people about how right you are for boycotting these books and how wrong they are if they plan to read them.

Does this sound familiar? Have you already made a decision to not see the new Noah film based off something someone said or read? Are you already trying to tell your friends and family not to see it based off that same article? Are you already starting to argue with people who want to see it because of those articles?

I did not watch it.

I may be a big fan of fantasy movies, but a wooden ship based on bronze age technology that provides shelter for all the animals of the world just stretches my suspension of disbelief beyond its breaking point.

I mostly enjoyed it. It was scary , depressing,worrying.... magnificent ; and a great piece of work. The watchers were amusing. The ark really great to see and the way the birds were shown on board was clever, it refreshed the story for me.There were good- hand over the mouth moments and unexpected turns.

Saw this movie this weekend. I thought the only redeeming thing about this movie was the cinematography. The story was way too different from the biblical story. The sad thing is that I'm sure a lot of people who watch this movie probably don't know that it's nothing like the original story.

If that is true, it doesn't say much for christians not making the effort to know the biblical Noah story, if they can be fooled that easily.

I'm not referring to Christians.

Well, 75% of the people in the United States profess to be Christians, who else are you referring to?

I was referring to people who have never read the bible and would be gullible enough to believe that the film was based on the biblical story.

What type of people do you believe haven't read the bible?

I'm not going to argue this, but it's pretty clear that there are many people (Christians and non-Christians alike) who don't know even the basic Bible stories. These are the people who would watch this movie and not know that it wasn't actually biblical.

I agree, many people have either not read the bible, or certainly have not investigated it from a scholarly or historical standpoint. Much to be learned from doing so, but few do.

The Pew people, did a study a couple of years ago and they measured general religious knowledge of different groups of people. Atheists and muslims I believe scored the highest, with fundamentalist Christians scoring the lowest. Since most atheists in the United States were one time a Christian, it stands to reason they investigated the bible to some degree before leaving Christianity.

I just got my blu ray of it in the mail. Loved the movie ^_^

the name of the movie it's mostly just a selling point. this should be expected. anyone who watches a movie to learn about the Bible is going to get a lot of stuff wrong with the least of which would be the story of Noah. I would have watched the movie even if it has been called Gilgamesh that may have made it more interesting. it entertained me for a couple hours which was all I expected.

How so?

Guy and his family build a boat to save a bunch of animals while the rest of existence gets wiped out. Seems like the movie was pretty true to the tale.

If anything, Aronofsky did away with the glaring plot holes in the original text as well as layers of depth where there previously were none.

Yez!

If they should have named it Gilgamesh, it may have been a real summer movie. More people believe that over the Noah story anyway, since it is high school/college literature anyway. It is academic, so it has to be true[r].

Sort of off topic but its odd to me that with all yhe flood legands people dont see that the scripture gives us the only account as to how all peoples would have a common story. And no the only truth is the word of God but Hollywood is not the place to find it
