I put my trust in the teachings of the Bible which is the message of Jesus Christ. I also have read up on a lot of the apocryphal texts that are mentioned in the Bible (enoch, jasher etc.) I don't trust really what any preacher tells me until I research it for myself by using the scriptures. I have found that too many Christians only defer to certain books or passages in order to justify their particular take on Christianity, which I believe is a very divisive position towards Christ, hence the reason why we have so many churches. Jesus Christ never meant for us to have so many divisions in the church. The true church imo are those Christians who follow the teachings of Christ and do not defer to orthodoxy which was never taught by the apostles, disciples, or the earliest Christians in the 1st century AD.
Thank you. I agree that divisions in the Church are not what Christianity is about. Could you detail a bit what compels you to trust the teachings of the Bible?

Just because something is true does not make it the truth. The understanding of what is really going on is revealed through long suffering, fasting and prayer that is unceasing.
Thanks. Would you mind offering to the thread the basis of your trust in God? In the Bible? (These serve the purposes of the thread more directly)

The followers of Christ have created their own version of who and what Christ means to them. They have created out of ignorance a false Christ, their own version of their own god and have done what they would never have expected, they have fulfilled my Fathers will, that they would make a place for the false christ to stand on this earth.

Thanks, but these topics are indifferent to the OP. Let's keep it on-topic.

Thank you. I agree that divisions in the Church are not what Christianity is about. Could you detail a bit what compels you to trust the teachings of the Bible?

It took me about three years to really come to the truth of the messages in the Bible. This occurred when I began heavily doubting that even a God existed and then one day an atheist friend of mine challenged me to find God in a big way. In fact we had a fight over it, I wasn't willing to give up my last bit of faith to be an atheist and he wasn't willing to be friends with me anymore. Either way, he basically drew a line in the sand for me, to which I strongly felt was a God placed spiritual challenge to finally find God once and for all, and to understand the truth of Jesus Christ.

Now my belief in the Bible had always been there, but at many times I felt that the Bible had been altered on some level by certain orthodoxies. I am still not 100% sure of this, but I've gotten to the point where I tend to think that somewhere it's been tampered with in the translational part. I am not 100% sure about the historical part being tampered with, but I suspect in the translations it has been tampered with by higher powers that be. I think, what occurred as was quoted in Revelations, that anyone who tampered with the word of the Bible would be denied the kingdom and condemned. So I believe that the writers of the time, understood and had a great fear and suspicion that it may be tampered with. Either way, from my research, which took over three years so far, I believe the essential messages from the Bible are 100% true. This is because, after an exhaustive search into ancient history, reading of ancient manuals and texts, I've come to the realization that there is a very real story here between God and his people and why Christ died on the cross for us all.

It goes all the way back to the Garden of Eden in Genesis. From there, from the very inception of mankind, we can see the beginning and the end of humanity as we know it. I came to the conclusion that after reading so many texts, that God's authors speak to us through symbol and metaphor, that the Bible I strongly believe, was God inspired, and he knew that man would attempt to control the passages, but that He was able to send the message to the people regardless if they did the digging. I looked in also the Apocrypha such as Enoch and Jasher etc. and came to this realization that there is much more to the story of the Garden of Eden than we realize, than what we are being told by the orthodox churches including other bodies of thought as well as geopolitical entities. I truly that the Bible and the Apocrypha have a very powerful story to tell which is backed up when we look at history, archeology, geology, and the other sciences and subjects.

I will tell you the mystery of the garden of Eden. It was not on the Earth. It was in the clouds. Adam and Eve were living breathing souls just as Christ was transformed to. The skins of animals that were put on them is what we have on us now, our organic flesh, once transformed as christ, it is as it was in the beginning. When the flesh was put on they were returned to the earth where the dust came from. So, christ will come back through the garden, the clouds, having accomplished the healing of the sickness of the flesh. There is lots more.

Thanks for sharing a bit of your personal story. Would you say that your trust in the Bible stems more from its status as an authentic historical document, or from some divine or supernatural witness concerning its contents? Or something else?

Off topic here, but just wanted to say you are right. Time starts at the flaming sword, where the river which flows from the throne parts into four. And its not water. Much of the first part of Genesis is describing the foundations of our material realm.

I'm really curious to hear about this. Please tell me more and any resources or texts you might have available.

I don't mean to offend you but if you really believe in God, even your atheist friend would have seen it in you.

While some people I know personally doubt my Christianity, they don't doubt the fact, there's something "other worldly" about me. Some went as far to say I'm being helped by evil spirits - ye old witch hunt.

Just because I stopped getting sick, I physically aged in reverse in recent years, even my dog was age reversed and her youthful energy restored when I lived at home for some time, I could sometimes hear, see, and feel things seconds before they happen, even my discernment have improved dramatically and many more things.

- All of them started happening or got way stronger when I followed Jesus

Isaiah 40:30-31
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Many of my Christian friends think the things I have are quite strange when these things are in the Bible and we will do even greater things if we believe - John 14:12.

I guess all of my life I have believed in God. When it came to looking at certain parts of my life, especially growing up I encountered a great deal of evil and it affected me on a very core level. So I always looked at the world through the lens of good and evil and I attempted to look at the world through a spiritual type of perspective because in my search for meaning about my own life I had to determine what was the purpose of that suffering. So when I encountered all of these atheists they were so prevalent in their insistence that there was no meaning to suffering, there was no meaning in life, that there was no meaning to God. In my own life at that time I was at a very very dark place in my life and I think that this was God's attempt for me to find him and find the answers to the essential problem between good and evil in the world and how it manifested in my own life. So one day, and it really took one day, I was literally ready to end my life, my career, everything, as I knew it. I had I guess what you would call an epiphany and that is when I completely turned over my life to God, to Christ and since that time I've never doubted, I've never doubted the existence of Jesus Christ our God since that time. And although I don't have all the answers to life's problems, I feel that I have a pretty firm foundation on the nature of Good and Evil and why things happen the way they do, and when I came to that realization, my desire to commit suicide completely ended. So I guess this come to Jesus moment, if people would describe it that way, sometimes it takes people lifetime, for me it took a lifetime but the complete, I guess complete commitment to Christ, I think happened in one day, and since that time I've never at least to the best of my knowledge, I've never faltered from my belief in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.

I would say that my trust in the Bible as an authentic document stems from my own research plus a very deep spiritual experience that I had a couple of years ago. So I would have to say it was in the last 5 years I took this journey, but it culminated in one day when I was going to commit suicide. Then from that point I began to research God and who Jesus Christ was and so I did a great deal of investigation into the Bible, ancient Hebrew literature, all kinds of things I investigated including other sciences and it all made me back to Christ. I don't want to go into a long drawn out story but it was both a very deep spiritual experience that I had that that literally truly changed my life plus this research that I did.

I guess all of my life I have believed in God. When it came to looking at certain parts of my life, especially growing up I encountered a great deal of evil and it affected me on a very core level.

This is a very good reason to cry out to God.

So I always looked at the world through the lens of good and evil and I attempted to look at the world through a spiritual type of perspective because in my search for meaning about my own life I had to determine what was the purpose of that suffering.

Jesus saw evil as evil - John 7:7. He did not downplay it, not one bit, He exposed the Pharisees, which rallied enough angry Jews to vote to crucify Him. Most of the Jews that knew Jesus wanted Him dead than to follow Him.

This world is evil because it is not of God - 1 John 5:19

The purpose of evil is to test His children, but make no mistake, you should have no part in it, not one bit.

Most Christians does not know the society and its unfathomable greed is ultimately responsible for all the evil in this world. It's difficult to see with all the brainwashing done by the mass media but if you try to connect the dots, the financial, mental, psychological, spiritual, physical connections, they are one huge evil enterprise.

Do not make yourself useful in this world, be useful to God, and His sheep, but not this world. If you are useful to this world then you have a part in the evil in this word, just like in James 4:4.

So when I encountered all of these atheists they were so prevalent in their insistence that there was no meaning to suffering, there was no meaning in life, that there was no meaning to God.

What about the atheists who serve in Greenpeace? What about those who volunteer for relief missions in quite inhospitable conditions around the world? What about those who left their good life in the west only to risk their life for the poor and live as poor in many poor countries?

We can't generalize them either. They are still as divided in their beliefs and convictions as we are. Ironically, some of them seem to live closer to the way Jesus lived than many Christians I know, especially the atheists who left their good lives so that they can help other people in great distress. Being there to for someone.

Some people, even Christians might think that is stupid but they are forgetting the parable of the Poor Widow. Money isn't everything! Giving out of poverty - giving out of distress because you left your good life for example, is far better to Jesus than giving out of abundance..... ....It's absolutely worthless and in vain to try to make more money so you can give more.... ....You can either want to see my relatively complex analysis of world economics that support the view of Jesus or just believe Jesus in what He says. For often what He says, the world does and believes the opposite out of ignorance.

Been there, but I literally ended my career. I still have a job but nowadays, I only seek after lowly jobs. I'm not doing it out of religious dedication or sacrifice but after I realized our society is evil, I no longer wanted to be useful in it. I no longer wish to be useful in a society that oppresses the poor. I don't wish to be a part of something which God hates the most.

There is nearly nothing that I do for the sake of religious observance. I simply avoid doing evil and avoid being accessory to evil by living in austerity and an honest way of living.

I also try my best to minimize my impact to other living things so I often recycle, like reuse discarded boxes. To prove what Jesus teaches is sound logic, even mainstream science have concluded, austere living is the only way to live sustainably in our planet. As it is, our society is headed for self-destruction through complete collapse of social order simply due to extravagance and greed which widening the gap between rich and poor.

And although I don't have all the answers to life's problems, I feel that I have a pretty firm foundation on the nature of Good and Evil and why things happen the way they do

Never stop evaluating even what you already know!
